Hello there, I am sending you this PM because you posted that you were attending/maybe attending the Texas Lan in College Station this weekend.
Please RSVP via a reply to this PM to finalize whether or not you are coming. If you are unable to PM due to a ban, I will just assume you are coming.
We are in dire need of equipment in the form of: Routers, Ethernet Cables, and/or switches, etc. So if you have anything you could bring, please tell me in your reply.
The address and time are detailed in the original thread.
Things to bring:
1)Computer (I assume everyone has a laptop, if not you can tote the desktop or share)
2)$10 for parking (parking is right next door to Traditions in the parking garage)
3)Equipment (PM me what you're bringing)
4)Money for food (we'll figure out what we're doing for lunch or you can pick it up on your way in)

Literally the same address, there is a big parking garage next to the dorms, which, though not free, is the best solution for what we have. Do NOT try and park elsewhere or you will get towed. This is a VERY high traffic towing area, so just fork over the $10 bucks, and be done with it.
We've rented like a study room area where we can set up and such. Should be plenty of room, its just gonna be like, in a dorm. Which is where we did it last year. So it's kewl.

I took high school geometry, so I'm calling that the most convenient place in between the 3 great cities, where most people will come from, for this to take place is college station. It makes the travel time for everyone as close to equivalent as its gonna get in this big ass state. unless your in Lubbock. Sorry X.X
The most likely place will be Rudder Building on Texas A&M Campus. Big rooms, easily to rent, and easy to get to.
WHAT
Epic LAN/ meet all your fave TL posters! Ok not all of them, but its always a blast to get together with tons of SC nerds and play SC, talk about SC2, and rage about how easy Protoss is!

It'll start at noon (12). That allows for reasonable travel time, and you can pick up lunch on your way in OR get it when you're here.

Nice. It's really a shame the LAN scene has kind of died down in the OKC metro as far as I can tell (there's still one group active though). When I was in high school (99-03) there were LANs all over the area every week. I was a regular attendee at the monthly OLP and later all of the GML (a local cyber cafe/lan center) hosted LAN parties. I just played Q3 competitively though, and a lot of CS competitively online (never got too far up the ladder though).
Sophomore in college I had an opportunity to be fundamental in a series of massive lan parties at OU, possibly the biggest gaming events in Oklahoma (biggest I've heard of anyway) with over 200 attendees and the entire ground floor of the student union covered with all types of competitive games. Took tons of time and planning but the payoff was pretty good, we got lots of prizes and people interested in LANing I'd like to think.

Anyway now graduated college and working full time it'd be nice to get back into LANing more... After attending QuakeCon last year I really want to build a machine that's more compact... Back in the day Shuttle was the best at this, is that still the case? (no pun intended). I'm halfway considering just getting a powerful laptop but it just seems wrong somehow with my fairly serious LAN background

I wouldn't really mind staying over that night if I had to. Carpooling sounds good for multiple people from the same place too. Is the majority of people bringing full-blown PCs or are we gonna be seeing more laptops? Because I'll probably be bringing a laptop (Hopefully I get my Macbook Pro by then haha)

Rage aside, this actually isn't a HORRIBLE idea. Austin has a ton of stuff to do, especially food stuff. Plus it's closer to where I live so if we have the majority from around there or people are willing to travel, then I think that wouldn't be a bad idea.

Any updates on this event?
Btw, if ANY of you go to or will soon attend UT, I made a Facebook group dedicated to getting us together to host some pretty sweet events throughout the year. I found an older UT Starcraft Players group but it's pretty outdated, the last wall post coming from 2008. And this group isn't just for players, but for people who also genuinely enjoy Starcraft as a spectator sport. This is mainly a way to get the larger, truer SC community of UT banding together.
I hope to get some LAN tournaments set up throughout the year, some of them including some live commentary for those who don't qualify or just want to watch! So yeah, if you go to UT, come join the group.

sorry for these stupid questions but uh I kinda don't have a laptop anymore so I'm wondering will there be computers there or ami screwed? I'll defeinitly be bringing my own keyboard/mouse/mousepad/earphones though. Won't we have to like install starcraft on each of the computers or something.

HUGE UPDATE as of 17 meaning LAN IS IN TWO DAYS!!!!!
LAN IS NOW OFFICIALLY GOING TO TAKE PLACE IN TRADITIONS DORMS
We've rented like a study room area where we can set up and such. Should be plenty of room, its just gonna be like, in a dorm. Which is where we did it last year. So it's kewl.

We are in dire need of equipment in the form of: Routers, Ethernet Cables, and/or switches, etc. So if you have anything you could bring, please tell me in your reply.

Things to bring:
1)Computer (I assume everyone has a laptop, if not you can tote the desktop or share)
2)$10 for parking (parking is right next door to Traditions in the parking garage)
3)Equipment (PM me what you're bringing)
4)Money for food (we'll figure out what we're doing for lunch or you can pick it up on your way in)
