Its very normal to pick the supports first, and base the rest of the picks around it. If you pick carries and mid first, you're giving the enemy a very good chance to counter your strategy. While picking decent all around heroes that can be used for a lot and fit into most strategies, doesn't really tell the enemy much.
I don't see anything wrong with Lich as firstpick followed by witch doctor, as long as there is a plan to follow up on.
But yeah, instalocking captain to have him tell you he doesn't know what he's doing does not bode well -.-

lich is good if you are going to duel lane, or if you expect an agro tri lane. WD + lich though seems pretty stupid, you have no real stuns besides a RNG WD mini stun. You have some HUGE power in the ults though if you can fight in a closed spot... maybe he wants wombo combo? a lich wd gyro timber od combo could OWN in a early team fight maybe

If he gets a haste or an invis he has to gank a sidelane, no way a lvl1 pudge kills a sf under his tower thanks to block vs no-block. If he ganks a sidelane, even if he gets first blood which is not sure, he gave what, 2 or 3 waves of freefarm to a sf? The lane is just lost flat out.
Are you actually defending not blocking and going for the rune?

Just ran into people running 5 man mid strats in Ranked, so fucking pissed off right now, not because of the strat (well maybe a little) but because one person on my team was very vocal about how i'd ruined the game, somehow.
Apparently I am supposed to hit 5 man silences/stuns despite the fact we have no vision in the fucking lane.

So the wife has to work late, so I get 3 hours of Dota fun - get home, crack open a beer, switch on my screen; cool, there was an update, luckily done while I was at work. Click play. "Error-unable to find executable"
And apparently now dota 2 has changed its name to Left 4 Dead 2. Restart steam- no joy. Settings-check game cache- takes about 15 min and...ok Dota is called Dota again, but aparently I have now also deleted 4.6GB worth of local content, so this has to be downloaded again.
Was still going when I went to bed. Thanks Steam.

All Random. Got sniper. Went Dire Safelane since Pudge wanted mid. Enchantress said she'll jungle so cool, I got the lane to myself. Lane against Ogre and Kunkka. Ogre dives and Kunkka dives too. Well they made my life a living hell since enchantress didn't want to help me anyways and I gave up easy kills. Tried to make something happen (Pudge was owning) but fell waay short.
Oh, not really complaining but Valve said something like you can't get matched against a 5 man party when you solo queue.

The amount of startegies you could build around lich and a wd is massive. Everything from teamfight wombo comboes, to big pushing strats, from 2-1-2 to 3-1-1 with lich mid.

That would imply the only party configuration that can go against a 5-stack (besides another 5) is a 2+3 arrangement. I'm pretty sure they meant if your party consists of solo queuers, you can't face 5-stacks.

Got teamed up with a Lifestealer who is 5 slotted by 30 minutes. He runs into the whole enemy team by himself with no backup then proceeds to die and then tell the team "Guys we should not be so greedy". The weaver on the team thought buying a 30 minutes radiance would be a good idea. Pushes a lane out with no tp when our whole team is dead. We tell him to keep pushing the lane because he's like 10cm (on screen) from the T3. He then walks all the way to side shop, TPs home, shukuchis in front of the whole enemy team and drops like a fly. Then at Roshan pit, with 5 enemy heroes dead. Lifestealer 'misclicks' armlet toggle, dies to roshan then buys back. To 'farm' jungle. In the team fight, bristleback tells us to gank their heroes. He then walks into a creep wave, all 5 enemy heroes with T2 tower support, forcing us all to save him and everyone but out support rubick dies because of it. Tells the team that "We didn't do that right." Fuck I hate match making.

I just played with my friend, I called mid and waited for anyone to respond, no one complained, so when there was about 20 seconds left of the picking phase, I picked Invoker, which is a hero I can play (i.e. can make every combination pretty fast at will), but has not a lot of experience with. Then suddenly a russian picks Pudge and proceeds to speak in a foreign tongue. I tried to take it cool and asked my friend to go lich so we could get some XP in lane, but then every time the Clockwork ganked, he would push the lane and scream some pseudo-english into the microphone.
Sometimes I wonder why I prioritize this game over games like Starcraft. But Dota 2 would be a lot better if people who were unable to speak english, go into english servers.

Not QQ but funny tho, because others on my team did QQQ So, i am doing the A-Z challenge in ranked and its hard allready. I am at broodmother and i just had a good laugh. So, in early i apologise to my team i pick BM and am doing A-Z.
Eventually lategame, Void chronospheres the entire battlefield, Attacks first target who is nightmared, whahaha everyone raged, hahaha So funny it made me smile

Get in a ranked game with player named #roadto1pts and guess what he started feeding from min 1. Ended up with 0-20, never said a word just sent hero to random lane to feed. Why ruin other ppl games just so you can have 1 point in ranked....

Unranked all pick with a friend to cool down. I pick lc intending to jungle about 30 seconds before the game starts. When the pick timer hits 0 somebody picks Nature's. He is upset with me, screaming "Don't pick a hero you don't know how to play". In Spanish, of course. He demands jungle and I oblige, LC is good in lane anyways. At about a minute in I look over and see (shocker) prophet cliff jungling. This kind of upset me because of what he said earlier, but I said nothing.
At 9 minutes in his friend the spanish Timbersaw is getting wrecked by Brood in lane, you would think prophet could help counter push. Nope because he didn't put a second point in trees until level 10. Instead he cliff jungles then without warning teleports into lanes for ganks. This actually worked, which upset me even more. He was like 7-2 for a while. The problem was they had a huge tower advantage because Brood was destroying the Timber. To a normal prophet you would generally try to get items to help push like a Deso, Necro, Shadowblade etc. Nope, first item on this Prophet was an Aghs.
Eventually his repeated random ganks started resulting in him feeding, brood outpushed and outfarmed him (his friend the timber was equally bad and partially responsible for this) and we lost.
Obviously I flamed him because of what he said at the start of the game

1st game. We have a Tide who says he's not gonna do shit this game. Our captain last picks sniper. Well tide jungles until game ends, I do some shit with sniper but we actually manage to win because their magnus abandons and they all leave even though it would've been 4v4. Shit game.
2nd game. Our necro doesn't like his not going mid, he proceeds to feed by running to their tower, ends 0-21-0. Shit game.
3rd game. Enemy captain trollpicks, we end in like 15min or so 2-20 score. Shit game.
4th game. Our cap troll bans all, first pick meepo, 2nd bm, others were distr jakiro TA in some order. Captain Meepo gives first blood, TA does pretty good, I do way too good 1v1 with BM vs timber but doesn't matter because our Meepo has no clue what the fuck his doing. Shit game.
5th game. Cap first picks weaver, abba treant as supports, ds for safelane and dk for mid while giving enemy dp alch cm clock and slardar. Instalocks weaver and proceeds into feeding while whining his supports about no heals. Shit game
Worst fucking games ever. Goddamn waste of fucking time. Some people just should never even be allowed near to pick captain... And now I'm out of reports. Fuck them.
And next 2 games early abandoments. What the fuck matchmaking?
