Once in a while I get firstpick and just want to play a hero that I like. Nope. Absolutely not. No way. And the icing on the cake? The WHOLE GAME no one bought a courier! I was considering it at one point but was like "fuck it. no point." Enemy team was raping from the beginning anyways. | ||

The spectre was pretty horrible too... Not to mention the amount of griefing and flaming he did. Most of the team used our precious reports on him. I honestly hope this guy gets a week muted or LPQ... Edit: and yes, I died multiple times trying to save my team, another mistake you should never make in matchup, even if you're the 5 position wardbitch. | ||

My last game, I had a leshrac wander around the top of the map, using split earth on trees for 15 minutes, until he died. Then he respawned and started doing it in our base. I don't even want to play this game anymore. And it's not even like I'm new. I have over 800 games played, play in very high bracket, have long winning streaks. It just doesn't make any sense. Why so many shitty games all of a sudden? Gaben pls | ||

If you assume that the MMR system is working, then the assumption would be that you're seeing the outliers. Let's use an analogy here. Let's say Canada has 1000 Grizzly Bears and 10 Black Bears, and the US has 1000 Black Bears and 10 Grizzly Bears. If I'm standing in the middle of the Massachusetts wilderness and see 5 Grizzly Bears, the reasonable person inside of me says "Oh, cool, I'm seeing the few rare Grizzly Bears in the United States. This is clearly more memorable than those Black Bears I saw earlier." The DotA2 QQer in me says "Fuck this shit, cartographers are dumb-asses, I'm clearly in Canada". | ||

Maybe the system can be more precise, but I don't think its performance is unusually bad for the variables it has to deal with. | ||

And that's fair, but personal experience doesn't necessarily say anything about the system at large, just that you've been unfortunate. In my personal experience, I don't care how many games someone has played, I care more about the attitude they bring to a game. Recently I've been running into more flamers who are content to play the blame game for 40 minutes as soon as one thing goes wrong, and I think I must be in wood league again. But the way I see it is, if I'm complaining about how I got matched up with these guys, am I any better than they are? EDIT: Also, my initial post was not directed towards you, just airing out my own ideas about the recent MM complaints. | ||

I was one of the guys that has nothing against match making up until recently, but really it's extremely annoying right now. I'm not going to play dota for a while, i'm not having fun at all. edit: and to top it all, i was playing random ursa against spiritbreaker (stunning me all day long even with bkb), dazzle, treant, spectre,invoker. Good luck killing anyone with treant/dazzle. | ||
