You're strongest early game, so constantly gank lanes with stun / nuke creeps (centaur, ursa warrior, troll, etc). Also use creeps to push towers. Chen is ridiculously strong in the early game so just afk farming the jungle is a waste.
That being said, you can also farm pretty fast for a support, so you can get utility items like arcanes, mek, vlads, force staff, pipe, medallion, etc much faster than other supports, and use those to give your team an edge in teamfights.

Sometimes I really wanna know how the system works, the support doesnt know how to stack/pull/make vision/detection or team have completely no clue how to manage their income. That happened in a game against the infamous merlini stack. How is that even possible to win with people like that, what does the system want from me -_-

Clearly the solution is that it is all your fault, as matchmaking would not ally you with what you deem "inferior" teammates (a gross miscalculation of oversight of your own failure and lack of situational understanding), and your own play is the only thing to blame for your loss. Now excuse me while I go post link to the Wikipedia article for the psychological "Dunning-Kreuger effect".

unfortunately, it's impossible to create a good system. Think of these things:
a) Experienced player queuing with newbie friend b) A player is having a shitty day and isn't playing properly c) A player is having an enlightened day and playing like a boss d) A player decided "today I'll play however I want fuck the others" etc etc etc
There is so many factors that it's impossible to balance a 5v5 non-ranked MM. A team could get 3 players goofing around while the other team could get 5 tryhard players. Maybe a guy randomed a new hero even though he is an amazing player with other heroes, and isnt used to timings of that hero.
Unfortunately, that's not something that can be fixed. That's how I see this at least.

Yeah I mean if I do something like decided to try out chen there really isn't any way for valve to deal with it.
Still I know that feel bro. It sucks.

The problem I have is when their entire team is 500+ wins when I'm at 150 or so on this account and I have a teammate playing his second game. Someone show me the algorithm that accounts for such bs.

what if they are all 500 wins vs 600 losses? What if they won only versus lower-skilled players and lost to higher skilled players? What if your 150-wins account won against a couple of higher leveled players? etc etc etc
matchmaking systems are slightly complicated + Show Spoiler [SC2 MMR formula for 1v1] + this is for 1v1, and even then it isn't 100% reliable considering there are silvers who fight diamonds etc

True, true, it has to account for factors I can't see, but from the surface, and from the results, it seems to be doing a poor job.

It fucking pisses me off when people single pull, even though they actually know how to stack and after I give them a detailed explanation of why its a bad idea to single pull. A lot of supports also just stand in the lane with me without achieving anything even though they could be pulling. Don't really get that, because even if they're the usual selfish arses you get in a pub, it still makes sense for them to pull.

WTF is it with people hijacking the courier less than 2min into the game to ship themselves a salve. Apparently this is way more important than for the mid to get his bottle. Maybe it was because the mid happened to buy the courier and the side lane player was displeased with this obvious show of arrogance.
|
My recent matches page is 2 wins and 11 losses. It's been a rough couple of days.

tell me if im in the wrong here?
random draft i have 2nd pick i pick QoP with intent of going mid obviously. guy with 4th grabs weaver and "calls mid" i say no i am QoP im going mid thanks. He says but you didnt call it. So we end up with a dual mid lane because fuck that.
didnt realize I had to call mid when I pick the clearest mid in the game in random draft?

I had to fight a with doctor no joke for 8 minutes over the courier. As mid pudge I was trying to get my bottle back and he kept stopping it. I had to sit at my tier 1 tower for 8 minutes spamming f until finally the rest of the team noticed and told him to fuck off. He then said "pudge is a faggot report for hogging courier" despite the entire team seeing that he was being a dick. Don't underestimate what people will do in this game.

That guy is just a clown. Don't know why you'd go mid weaver in the first place. I normally play mids and when I'm silenced it's terrible because I pick obvious mid heroes and someone else tries to call it in chat. I ignore and go mid anyways until they leave or feed.

Well some teams would get the hint that you're going mid if you a pick a QoP but it's much better to be safe than sorry and just write mid. I've had people randoming Invoker and after the game starts they state that they aren't going mid because they can't play the hero, happened more than once.
Although even if you write mid, they might still contest you because they are random people on the internet.

If you are entering the game with the mentality of I am going to go mid no matter what other people say or do then you damn better pick hero and call mid or feed asap in order to let other people adapt. Yes even if you pick qop imo.

Pubbers don't know shit about appropriate roles, if you want it call it. I played a game a couple of days ago. 4 of us pick early, we don't really have a mid, but last guy picks Kunnka. Cool, someone who can mid. We tell him to go mid. He goes top. Other carries already in lane don't volunteer, so it's me, Crystal Maiden, as mid........ against Pudge.
|
Always call your role, no matter how obvious it may seem. Jungle, Mid, Solo Suicide, call that shit.

well if anything some guy from merlini said commended me in the end (and it didnt sound like sarcasm) because i had to buy sentry myself to deal with the slark >_>
carrying and supporting almost every game nowadays. I think the quality of the games became shit once the summer holidays started.
