Oh yea we lost. ur medusa is awful but so is bloodstone on axe. Compelling argument you made, here's some stuff that convinced me to take Bloodstone + Show Spoiler +Why would I make this a Core Item on Axe? - With three active abilities (two have 5-10 second cooldowns) this item lets you spam them as often as possible which is CRITICAL on Axe. - Still gives you 500 bonus health and 9 HP Regen PLUS more Regen the more charges you amass. - Reduces gold lost on death by 25 for each charge. When you do finally die from initiating it will not affect you hardly at all. - Reduces respawn time by 4 seconds per charge. If you're doing great on Axe you will get to respawn and get into the fight FASTER. Which means you'll be much more useful to your team. - When you are forced to initiate on the high ground... Should you die, your allies will gain the critical vision they need AND you will heal all your allies for 400 + 30 per charge. This often means the difference between raxing or just getting the tower. - If you initiate successfully, even if you die this item will make sure that you get XP for your troubles. - EXTREMELY easy to farm the components. This is probably one of the more important points. The most gold you'll have to save is 1200. - If you have Arcane Boots you can disassemble them and use the Energy Booster towards Soul Booster to save 1000 gold. - Did I mention the almost 80% Win Rate?
To me this item is the dark horse of Axe items. Nobody realizes its potential on Axe but IF ONLY THEY KNEW... (The Power of the Dark Side?)
One of the big reasons I mentioned above is the component cost. You're an Initiator. One of the few leather wearing, motorcycle riding tough guys that is supposed to be on the front lines. But what if you have 2600 gold? 3000 gold? Will you be as willing to initiate if you're really close to an item like Reaver? No, of course not. Those kinds of situations rarely emerge when you only need to save 1200 gold.
You make good points regarding the bloodstone build. I'll try it next time I play axe :D

Sigh. Just had a Random Draft game where we had the following lineup: Magnus, Naga Siren, Zeus, Ogre Magi, Lone Druid (me). We where up against a Slark, Tinker, Meepo, Death Prophet and Clockwerk. To me it seemed that with Magnus, Naga and Zeus we had some great teamfight potential, along with the stuns from Ogre Magi and the damage from Lone Druid. LD and Ogre can also really push some towers with Bloodlust on the bear.
So what happens? We win the early game but then proceed to never ever teamfight or push towers. Ever. I keep asking them to group up and push a tower, go for teamfights etc. Instead people keep going solo in lane and get picked of by Slark. One by one people die, tp to help alone, die again etc. etc. etc. In the end the Slark goes 19-1 before a single teamfight happened. The one teamfight we had we easily won, but when they raxed us people went in 1 by 1 again... Not once did I see a Naga ulti into RP + mass damage. I mean, when you see a Slark snowball like mad, why do people insist on going alone in a lane? I really like playing Lone Druid but in games like this I feel so weak, especially because I could never fight the Slark 1 on 1.

WHY DO THE DOTA GODS HATE ME?
Just had that happen last game, got the most Brazillian Luna, (Venezuelan, as he would tell me in the closest thing to an English sentence). After demanding mid, never stopped bitching to our ES (who was doing a very good job mind you) about the wards he could barely afford/had time and space to place them. Then every death he would get barraged with Vuvuzelan pings (no shame) while I recommended we just mute him. I managed to win because my new philosophy of "no more playing support except mid Rubick until High bracket" allowed me to go all SVEN BABY, but damn that guy was annoying.
"English" "US Servers" my ass. Screw tolerance, these are my video games we're talking about.

I used to think this shit was good too, until I realized you can just get way more utility from other items. The point of axe is not to cast 10+ spells in a fight, if you have to do that your team is fucking you over. You can own just fine with blink VG and even phase, you get 1 good blink+ call and maybe ult off and take the fight. And it costs a lot less too.
If you're like me and hate running out of mana just go force staff + urn. Gives you enough mana to get off a few extra spells while giving you way more utility than bloodstone. Bloodstone axe is shit

But it's so hard to tell someone to do something when they don't know why. It's like an impulse to not do it until i explain why, which of course ends up with someone being dead. It's bad enough when I watch her lane partner die because of her, let alone when it's a kill getting away from me or getting me killed. I try though because she enjoys it.
I've taught at least one person dota, and I was taught myself not to long ago. Its 100 times easier if you lane with them (especially since unless you're at a much higher level than myself dual 2-1-2 is the way to go). It can help people learn a lot about like, when to g on somebody , when to stay safe, who should be last hitting and such since they get to watch your example. Not to mention you will get to time to explain things to them since you're just sitting in lane with them for a decent amount. Lastly its fun bonding time, although I must say I've only done it with friends, never an SO.

Those kinds of situations rarely emerge when you only need to save 1200 gold. Lol. Bloodstone seems like an easy build until you realize the separate components do almost nothing for you. A simple soul ring will solve most of your mana regen issues. If it doesn't then the solution should be to manage your mana better. Spending 5k gold on a superfluous regen item to compensate for the fact that you don't know how to use your spells wisely is really stupid if you're actually looking to improve. You're literally just saying "I suck so I'm gonna spend 5k on an item that masks how horrible I am at not being out of mana".
Just going for items like Tranquils, pipe, force staff, urn, eul's, bottle, shivas, drums, soul ring, vlads etc will give you enough regen while also offering way more utility to your team. Also most of the stuff you listed is just what bloodstone does and is not really particular to axe. By your reasoning bloodstone should also be core on magnus and centaur....

Person on my team (I kinda doubt he was playing for my team) rushes midas on a random luna against prophet, druid, and jugg. We see enemy rubick in our jungle and luna, instead of lucent beaming to begin the fight, runs in to get lifted. I was invis at storm. Proceeds to Q.Q.
FYI, lucent beam has a 6s cd with 800 range vs. rubick's at most 625 range.

First game, Naix went jungle and the two people at the long lane decided that Venge should lane against Phantom Assassin and Invoker. That game was horrible. The consolation I got was managing to steal the Aegis by swapping the PA out.
Second game I called safelane, not given. Enchantress goes jungle and Bounty Hunter gets killed bad by Kunkka and Slark. Nevermore loses mid to Invoker.
|
Why do pubs not know how to finish games? 2 lanes of rax down, 4/5 enemy heroes dead? Ahead 20 kills, no towers down for us. Let's rosh then go in the jungle instead of ending the fucking game. So frustrating.
|
Pub Ap and I first pick random nyx. Ask for mid. Dude on my team says lol no and picks pudge. Says I have a choice: leave mid or we lose. I tell him he is a dick for ruining our game. The enemy bane goes on a kill streak and consistently says LOL eveytime he kills someone. I'm talking 20-0 on BANE. Enchantress stays in jungle til fountain dies. Slark is obviously pissed for having no support and I'm left muted. To top this off I'm now playing the same fucking guy who picked pudge on the enemy team now who is pubstomping as spirit breaker. Time to find a new game.

Items like Bstone and Agha are situationally good (fun) on Axe. They are definitely not the optimal items for a standard axe but if you knew when to build a Bstone you can snowballing hard from there. Is all about the timing of getting the items and does your team need you to build certain items for them etc.

Man, I really wish there was some sort of basic intro to the characters you're playing. I just played a game as rubick where I got sent mid (and actually dominated puck surprisingly) but it didn't matter since our jakiro had no idea what he was doing. He was a nice guy, but he was just really baffled as to how his character worked, kept getting caught way out in front and killed. Anyway one thing leads to another and then PL is killing all your towers :/
As a side note, most of the support heroes should have their default item build changed. This guy was building an orchid and aghs because valve told him to but we had no wards and could really have used to some basic support items like mek or drums.
Edit: Hey BurningSera, love your guide to support. I think you meant to reply to somebody else

It should just remove everything except boots sticks bracer wand wards and courier. Then after like 15 minutes it opens up t2 boots/mek and things like that. So tired of seeing supports try to build like a carry. It's cool that you want cools, everyone does. Be cool and help the team though, nobody cares if you KS as long as they win.

I fucking hate myself (dire)
I go Warlock with Doom top. We play against a solo weaver. Mid is even. Bot is constantly QQing about playing against a trilane. A trilane which doesnt stack, so the wave is always at our tower.
I listen to those QQs. And go try help our bot-lane... Everything in my was screaming "It's fine, our 2 lane is getting decent xp/farm against their 3lane" "I can constantly pull save camp and get levels". NOPE. I go down before lv6 and we feed..... WHY AM I SO FUCKING STUPID AND DONT LISTEN TO MYSELF?

As are the supports. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Seems like more often than not I'm buying wards no matter what my role, because the supports refuse to.
What's even funnier is when I get berated for buying wards as a carry instead of items. Look support, you've had 30 minutes and we've been victims of numerous 5 man ganks. If you don't buy wards after all that, then you never will.
