Nothing really, just a nice feeling to know you've equalized your losses or gone ahead. There are some people who also believe that the high/very high brackets start from 50% win rate..although I dont think this is true, I've seen people making threads, saying they got to very high with a 30% win rate.

The worse you play, the more likely you are to get an item. Which makes sense, since if you lose (badly) you're less likely to keep playing - one way to prevent that is to give you a rare item so you'd keep playing.

The bad players that get good items stick out in your memory, the good players that get good items dont.

And you're right, it sticks out because they're bad, but I'm fairly sure its completely random (which, for me, means never anything useful).

Random a carry, team picks 3 more carries and a windrunner. Then they say "meh we lost 4 carries" and don't even try. Next game, I pick a nice happy support and my PL goes Diffusal first (OK), then upgrades it immediately (WTF?), then starts building a vlads. Fortunately I save us from the indignity of a vlad's PL, but when his 60 minute farm is Diffusal 2 and Manta (at least he bought tranquils?) game was hard (aka we lost). Every game yesterday was some dumb variation on that. The 15-minute midas invoker. The MoM sniper (first item). I also lost to TheEmulator yesterday but I blame that game on my friend the lifestealer who wouldn't come farm the lane... ![]()

And then, they will do it again. edit: And then, they will blame you for not ganking. And then, you will find yourself driving down the road at 2am just to push that guy down the nearest flight of stairs.
