I randomed Earthshaker and then the rest of my team picked Ursa, NP, Lone Druid, and Doom. Ursa, NP, and LD all started out in the jungle and fought over who should have it. After arguing NP and Ursa eventually went safe and offlane respectively and LD stayed in jungle. LD had the entire jungle to himself now without any harassment. By the time I was level 7 as Earthshaker (position 5 due to team comp) LD was only level 2 and had gone back to heal FOUR FREAKING TIMES. Now LD might not be the absolute EASIEST hero to jungle but IME if you do it right its not that hard and you shouldnt need to go heal EVER. FOUR TRIPS TO FOUNTAIN AND HE IS LEVEL 2 FREE JUNGLE! I'm scared at where I will be calibrated, I can't believe the autism here.

One of the primary things that bothers me about Dota's current MMR system is the fact that it's easy to fuck yourself in calibration. I started calibration way too early (Dota2 was my first moba) and it dropped me into 1500s when I was done. If I had recalibrated *immediately afterward* I probably would have seeded at least 1k higher. If I calibrated now I'd probably seed significantly higher than my current MMR. It shouldn't be easier to smurf than to climb the ladder.

Allies tell me they are below 4k (3,5k a few games ago). I am not climbing fast, probably hurt a lot that I abandoned in the first few games that has smurf detection enabled. I think if I got an account at 1500 I would need ~45 games to climb 1000 rating. A smurf takes around 160 games to get rated. So I could probably climb to 4k in the same time as making a new account.

If you can win 40 times in 45 games you should probably be 3k above where you started, not 1k. If you can do that three more times...obviously you are still massively underrated. And this is missing the whole context of why I bring this up: a great deal of this thread is dedicated to people ruining your games. I have a strong winning record in every play mode but no I cannot pull off a 90% winrate over hundreds of games.

I've got one smurf I play with some friends classily named bigdick420 that boasts an astounding 21.43% win rate, yet has both of its SF games placed in "very high skill" according to dotabuff. I made this smurf because I wanted to mess around with some buddies that are awful at dota, except somewhere in one of my games Dota's matchmaking went "HEY WAIT A MINUTE THIS GUYS AN ASSHOLE" and decided that that account was ~3.5k or whatever "very high" classifies as, even though the account had won a grand total of three games.

This sounds a lot like the detection system is working.

A vast majority of the time I wasn't tryharding in any capacity - see how the three wins aren't just me obliterating everything, but the whole team stomping? And the losses - I'm managing 114 CS on an antimage in 44 minutes. This isn't because I'm trying really hard. So yes, it is working, because I am a ~4k player playing on a new account. But no, it isn't working, because nothing I had done on that account indicated that I was playing at a "very high" level (because I intentionally was not!), and was playing with people who very likely are not even 2k, yet when we queued together it would still match us in "very high" sometimes. You'll note that aside from a game a couple days ago, the last games on that account were 3 months before that. That's because I stopped playing with my friends, because even on a brand new account that I'm not trying on somehow gets its MMR inflated to the point where my friends aren't good enough to do anything but feed, and I'm not willing to, and probably not capable of carrying them. It isn't QQ because I don't get to stomp noobs, it's QQ because I'm not allowed to play with them.

As much as I have resented running into smurfs as I learned the game I do sympathize with this. That said you went 16/3/16 on your "third" game, playing Dazzle. Not all of your games were stomps but more than one in the first ten clearly demonstrated you were not a new player. 17/3/24 on Lion, 8th game? Obvious smurf.

Not all of your games were stomps but more than one in the first ten clearly demonstrated you were not a new player. 17/3/24 on Lion, 8th game? Obvious smurf. My friends, who were literally playing their first not-vs-bots games ever, were OD 12 - 6 - 14 WK 4 - 6 -14 Ogre 6 - 4 - 24 That's the dazzle game. Both opponents that have visible profiles on dotabuff show games only in normal skill. Even if this says "The dazzle is smurfing!" it also says "So are his buddies!" and I don't think it uses a stomp in that bracket to jump MMR up two whole brackets. Lion game: I'm 17 - 3 - 24 Matt is 22 - 3 - 13 as his first time pudge. Greg is 8 - 7 - 14 as spirit breaker. Adam is 12 - 7 - 15 as night stalker. Allied Lich is 7 - 7 - 21, and only shows games in "normal" bracket through dotabuff. Again, yes I do get a solid KDA, but so do my allies, and these are literally within their first dozen games against human players. They literally ARE new players. If the matchmaking system is singling me out in these games as SUBSTANTIALLY better than my friends, I fail to see the metric it's using to determine such a thing. Everything after the Lion game is a loss. The lion game, though a win and a stomp, was at most in the high end of normal bracket, yet two games later is in "high" bracket, and the following game in "very high". It became increasingly impossible to play with my friends, not because we were consistently stomping and winning (In fact, the first six matches show a healthy L W L W L W) but because something in the "smurf detection" decided that I wasn't where I should be even though it shouldn't have been my play that was showing that.

Everytime I play with Russians I feel like minus 10 years of my life. if russian is on your team = he ignores you for 80 minute rpg farm game or pick a carry and feed and flame in russian. if russian is on opp team = scene, if win = hohoho im dendi xaxa aaxa, if losing = defend for 70 minutes refuse to leave game one of the few examples of lovely teammates. last week i was trying to stay up overnight to "fix my sleep", played for about 9 games, last 7 games was all MM solo Q on Europe, all russian teammates.. after that, I didn't play dota2 for a week till last night. ggnore /rant same think

Three games, three different heroes, three teams where someone is screwing up royally and I can't outcarry the fed opponents. This is just depressing...I don't even know what to do anymore. All three I picked SHOULD have been sure fire win heroes for me with above 70% winrates.

Why can't you be matched with people based on games played instead of this hopeless MMR system. because it wouldnt change a thing. i played with people who had more than 500 games with invoker and still didnt know what items they should buy in certain situations
