Hi,

so I've had the 6gv2 for quite some time and in general am very satisfied, but lately it occasionally (like every 10th press on most keys) registers two or three key hits when I actually only made made one.
It's super annoying, even for writing since I constantly have to correct things.

So has anyone ever experienced that problem? What can cause this?
I use the PS/2 connector, but can't imagine that being the problem.

I've already checked the windows settings and reduced the repeat speed to the slowest setting, but that didn't help at all.

help

/edit
have already cleaned and deinstalled driver, but that didn't help.

I'm having the exact same problem. I have two steelseries 6gv2 and use them on 2 different computers and they've both started registering more keystrokes than I actually made. I had the keyboards for about 6 months without any problems at all.

I've tried booting with Ubuntu LiveCD to see if it was a problem with the Windows drivers, same problem there.

Sorry for necroing, but im having the exact same problem with my 6gv2 - All my key strokes register as 1-4 strokes which makes typing and playing Starcraft really challenging!

I have cleaned the switches as best I could, but it didn't help

Did any of you guys ever solve this?

odd. I wanted to say that the switches have gone bad but I can't imagine all the switches becoming like this all at once.

Could be a problem with the wiring/electronics.

If the keyboard is still under waranty (or even if it isn't) your best bet would be to contact Steel Series Support and see if they know of this issue and can either replace it, or get you something where you can return it if you bought it in the store for a new one.

Thanks guys

The keyboard was one I won from a competition, it was shipped out of NA instead of the danish Steelseries HQ for some reason and so I doubt it will be worth it for me to contact them about getting a new one, as the postage alone is about half of the cost of a new keyboard

A small workaround I found, was to play around with the Windows 7 Filter Keys settings - At least now I can type properly - However, playing Starcraft is an impossibility like this.

I googled this, and found quite alot of people with the same problem, but no fixes for it and nothing from Steelseries about it. Im shooting Steelseries an e-mail to hear them out, not getting my hopes up for a new keyboard though.

Will post their response in this thread.

Same problem, had to RMA it after 2 months or so and got a new one after 3 weeks. i am really sad finding out how common this is because I really like this keyboard but if it happens again and I guess I'm off to buy a Thermaltake keyboard

Same problem here with a 7gv2 and ikari, same problem at the same time right after the warranty (double clicks) not very happy given the cost...won't buy again for sure.
From what i see you can contact support only if you ordered it on the SS website, so no luck for me..gg

Steelseries has a lot of weird problems in their products, I own a 7g, Kinzu and Siberia v2 White. My 7g using the PS/2 to USB converter bugs my keyboard sometimes if I don't plug it correctly or slightly move/shake the plug off while I move my case. Also, my Kinzu used to double click on the right mouse button, it somehow fixed by itself...On my siberia, the mic sometimes doesn't work, I always have to unplug it and plug it back in(my wires can't possibly be damaged, because I'm using the jack from my 7G and the headset wires aren't laid on the floor).

Even so I still love their product!

I had this problem for a couple months, but fixed it after one day i just wanted to clean all keycaps, and most importantly, blasted helluva lot pressurized air into the key that was faultering. After that the problem completely stopped.

Just for the record, this is normal with any ps/2 device, they can't be hotplugged so any disconnection at all is likely to require a restart to work.

Maybe steelseries has some problems with debounce-filtering? :/ If they are using analog timings (rc) , then check if the capacitors work properly.

My experience with steelseries??
I bought a steelseries siberia v2 navi full headset and the mic isn't working after just 1 week, they shipped me a replacement and this is how it is:

I received the replacement item today and to say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I am devastated!!!!
Numerous of things:
1. It looks ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than the one I purchased.
2. The one I purchased is color yellow with Navi logo on each ear, this one is orange without any markings on each ear
3. It is dirty as HELL, mine looks more new!!!!!
4. It is SMALL!!!! wearing it in my head makes me hit the top most VERY UNCOMFORTABLE
5. Even the logo at the top is different
6. Biggest issue is "IT IS VERY VERY VERY QUIET!" The ear phones from my iphone sounds a lot BETTER, It seems like this ISN'T even the same product!!!!!
7. I does NOT look like a FULL HEADSET!!!! MEDIUM HEADSET???
8. I had to pay for taxes and shipping for this very ugly and very ugly sounding cheap looking product

hey i came here from a google search and wanted to let you guys know why this is happening.

the way cherry switches are made theres a built in buffer to stop multiple inputs from one keystroke they call it "key bounce" so they add a 5ms delay built into the keyboard. whats happening is your contacts on your keys are becoming worn and cause extra key bounces. the only fix is to replace that actual key module. also logitechs new mechanical key switch that just came out has taken account for this and added a secondary anti keybounce.

i know it sucks but i type so fast i hit a letter sometimes and i get 3 4 and sometimes 5 of that one letter showing up lol

hope i help someone down the road, - mike of mikeMARTIN.co

Not exactly true. First off it also commonly happens when you have debris in the switch, a bit of contact cleaner or compressed air will probably fix it. Though it can be from the contacts, cold solder joints or a faulty/damaged PCB can cause it as well. There's also software out there that can fix the problem that's easily found with a google search. But you should search for the term 'key chatter' if you want to find more about it since it's the far more common term for this.

Also to be clear there's nothing special about logitech's romer-g switch. This is all controlled through the firmware of the keyboard controller, if another company set a longer delay in their firmware (and some do) it would be the same result.
