Wasn't really sure where to post this, but google and the TL search function couldn't really answer my question definitively. This is my first post here so please be nice ^^
From what i could gather macro functions are illegal, and for good reason, but what I couldn't find is whether or not the nostromo is allowed at major tournaments. The general consensus of the internet was 'no' but there is never a source cited.
I lost my poor pinky in a sledding accident when i was a kid, and i bought a nostromo several years ago so i could play WoW more comfortably (yes i used to play WoW please don't hate me -__- ). Now i play SC2 and i think it's amazing that there is such a thing as progamers, but if i wanted to go try out the open bracket at MLG, for example, would i have to use a normal keyboard? I can't really hit shift, control, or alt on a normal keyboard comfortably, fast, or accurately with my ring finger (go ahead and try it out, lol).
TLDR Umm so basically what i'm trying to say is the nostromo for me is just a keyboard thats shaped different, i don't use it to cheat but i can't imagine playing without it. Is it allowed at tournaments? and if it's not can you link where you found that info out? Cause i looked every where.
Annnyways i read all the other threads, I don't want this to be a debate over how lazy i am or how i should use a real keyboard like a man, i also don;t want opinions on razer products or what ever. I just want answers that make sense.
Thanks! ^_____________^

Just going out on a lime here and say no, and thats because it like a keyboard and mouse in one which can have a major advantage if used right

I would say yes. Explain your disability, and I think that there is a good chance that you will be allowed to use the nostromo as long as you wipe it and restore it to defaults.
Provided you speak with event coordinator's beforehand and explain your situation, I think you'd be able to get approval. As long as each key/combo thereof only performs one action, you are within the lines.
I feel that given your situation that if you speak with a tournament organizer to explain, you would be given permission.
I'm fairly certain that, if there's no multikey bindings (they'll probably as you to prove it) there's no problem with using the thing! Hope your open bracket experience goes well and you play some great players!
Yea I would imagine they would make a special exception because of disability (idn if Mlg would let anybody use it). Just get in contact with the MLG staff and ask before hand... I feel like its a lil late though... can you still sign up for Orlando?
Should be fine as long as you have no macros. (ie two actions with one key-press)
Ii can't really chime in on the legality of the item, but I use my thumb for alt, ctrl, and sometimes even shift. It takes a while to get used to it, but I manage.
Yeah as long as you don't have macro's and sledding injury?
This got me thinking... when will we know eSports is legit? When we have paraprogamers competing in their own leagues? That'd be awesome. =D
You should try and contact MLG and ask them directly. The hard truth may be no. It's been known that at MLG captains from other teams will call out opponents if they see them using something that will instantly DQ them to protect their player from having to play.
So contact MLG as they would be the authority in that situation.

I think it would be fine, only if all keys are set to do only one action. It is basically the same of remapping keyboard or using custom hotkeys. If one button does only one thing I don't see a reason to not allow this.
I would think that it would be fine as long as there are no actual macro commands set to the keyboard as I think that they allow people to use Razer Blackwidows which also have options for macro commands on board.
I am pretty sure it is allowed. General guidelines are : Remapping of 1 key to 1 key or 1 button is allowed. Remapping multiple keys to 1 key or 1 button not allowed. So as long as you don't configure your nostromo to violate that guidelines it should be fine.
Still better to talk to MLG just in case though ( like you might need extra space in your table and what not)
