As my first mech keyboard, should I go for brown or blue switches? I don't game too often(20 games of starcraft a week) , but I do a significant amount of typing.

Everyone and their mother is going to tell you brown switches. They're the favored RTS switch. I, however, have blue switches, and like them just as much. If you're going on odds of likability, you'll probably want to go for brown.

The reason I completely disregard the "typing" element, is because there's less of an "importance" (unless you're a 100+ wpm secretary) on which switch you get. The mechanical "switch" part, at least in my opinion, is done for the gaming preferences.

I'm using the cheapest keyboard I could buy when I first built my computer five years ago. It still works perfectly, except for backspace getting stuck every once and a while. I don't understand why people think that the quality of keyboard matters at all.

The mouse is what counts.

i saw on elitekeyboard.com (something like this) yesterday, they received (finally) some Filco majestouch, with cherry mx blue / black
they'll get the one with cherry mx brown on october 31. so im gonna wait and order a filco majestouch with N-key rollover cherry mx brown
i know these keyboard sells so freackin fast, its pretty hard to find on net (none on ebay.com)
if i dont have the chnace to get one, i'll buy a cherrymx blue, kinda annoying sounds but, one of the best keyboard out there
topre switches are pretty badass too

I wouldn't call these reliable. I think I've purchased 6 or 7 of them. They just stop working so easily and I've never abused my equipment in a fit of rage. I wish I would have purchased a quality ~$100ish mechanical keyboard a long time ago. That will certainly be my next purchase...

I use a Saitek Eclipse for SC2. It gets the job done, but I wish the keys were a bit lower, sorta like how laptop keyboards are.

I play Brood War on a laptop, and I love the low keys on it <3

I was shoping for a keyboard to replace my cheap mitsumi keyboard that i totaly love, but keys are getting worn out and not as good now, so i tryed getting a decent keyboard for a decent price.. its really problematic

There was really no keyboard out there for 50,60$ that was really worth not getting a 10$ logitech kb and no 60,70$ kbs that was worth not getting Filco Majestouch for 120$.. so my solution was to get the Logitech K120 for 10$ really simple but feels KINDA nice, that will keep me waiting for the backorder on filco...

1. Corded
2. Cheap
3. Durable
4. Evenly spaced keys that you can easily feel over without looking

anything that feels comfortable and natural will be the best keyboard for you.

Mechanical keyboards really are the best. They aren't all that much more expensive than the shitty Razer/Steelseries GAMING GEAR membrane ones either.

Steelseries uses Cherry mechanical switches, moron. Yeah, that's right, the same switches Elitekeyboards use. Lumping Steelseries together with Razer and all the other rubbish is ridiculous.

Anyways, right now I'm using a Logitech K300. Pretty awful keyboard, but my old one went under a while back, so I got this one from a local store to hold me over until I can get a better one. I'm not sure what I'll go for yet, but the Steelseries ones are definitive candidates.
