what a coincidence that first to reply is also Bulgarian. Thanks for the advice I am also leaning toward the XMG, but didn't know if they are reliable manufacturer. I thought that all QM 3rd gen Intel have Ivy Bridge. At least that what I saw here: + Show Spoiler +http://ark.intel.com/products/codename/29902/Ivy-Bridge

well all Homestory cups have been played on xmg notebooks so i guess they are reliable.

Quick question TL: Can anyone suggest a ~500W modular PSU which is under $100?
Thanks

There's a lot... Seasonic M12II, Rosewill Capstone-M, Antec HCG-M, Corsair TXM, PCP&C Silencer MK III, OCZ ZT, and so on..

they play on them because it is their main sponsor

Hello once again, I posted a bit earlier saying I needed a build and I've come up with something. I decided that I still want to try overclocking even though it's my first build. I'm pretty sure that I've put too much money into some items I could get away with saving more on. Currently the price is around 1050$. Is the power supply even good enough? The case seems a little weird too. Perhaps the video card is a bit unnecessary.
As you can see I am quite clueless. If you could please review this build and see if it would even work that would be great! Thanks!

A core i5 3570k is required for overclocking.
Heatsink is overkill for a novice... just get the $20 / $30 Coolermaster Hyper 212+ / EVO
A 7850 is all around better than a GTX 560 Ti.
Get a Caviar Blue or Green instead of Black since you're getting such a large sized SSD...
Get a Rosewill Capstone 450 instead of the Sparkle unit.

Thanks very much! Do you think an SSD of this size is even worthwhile? In your opinion is it even worth investing in one (I could save a lot of money by just dropping it)?
How well do you think this build could run SC II? Edit: Given your suggested changes of course.
|
Depends on what kind of programs you run, what kind of data needs to go on the SSD. For many people, it's probably better to save and get a 120-128GB drive unless you know you'll want more.
The build would do great with SC2; you only need to spend $140-150 on a graphics card for SC2, and there's not too much better for running games than an overclocked i5.

Would it be worth upgrading this system? Would I see an increase in performance?
i7 920 Nvidia gtx 275 12gb ram 5400 rpm 500gb hdd Haf 932 Evga x58m sli (and im not sure what psu)
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just built a computer, but there's a problem when I try to install windows. There is no available hard drive to install it on. However, the hard drive is recognized by the bios. It's a 6 gb/s hard drive, and I tried a different cable on both sata2 and sata3 ports on the motherboard. I have the PSU cable plugged to the hard drive also. What is wrong?? I even changed the sata mode selection from IDE (default) to AHCI. Still no recognized hard drive to install windows 7 on.

That's a really vague question. What are you doing with it, what do you plan to do with it?
First thing I'd upgrade personally would be the HDD, then the GPU. The CPU isn't worth it compared to those.

And just light gaming all around.

For 1080p on that CPU, you need a heavy OC, like 4Ghz to look good while playing SC2.
A 7200RPM 32MB cache HDD would make everything load faster, which is good, and a better GPU lets you put prettier stuff on screen to let you stream better looking stuff.
For 720p or lower, you might need a mild OC, but nothing particularly terrifying, and it kind of depends on your quality requirements.

You aren't going to stream 1080p with that though, not unless you run the game on a different machine and use a capture card. I have an i7 930 at 3.6 Ghz(HT on) and it's pretty much maxed out streaming 30fps 720p with 2 cores dedicated to sc2.

You can push 1080p if you hit 4.0 with HT enabled, I believe. But that's not a guaranteed OC on air for that chip.

I think it's possible to get a decent one, but I agree a good 720p is the better alternative.
Was just saying it is sort of possible.
I'd still do the HDD and GPU first, though.
