What I'd really like to see in SC2 is the ability to stop a replay at any point and start playing it like it's a game.
For example, if you are watching a 1v1 replay with a friend, you can pause the replay at 3:00 minutes, and click "enter game". Then you can start playing one of the players and your friend will player the opponent.
true, your friend will know what happened up until then, but i'd sure like this option to play out "what-if" scenarios. and also, being able to play games from within a replay position from some pro-gamers would be pretty tight.
any thoughts from other people??

That's an interesting idea, and at first glance it doesn't seem it would be terribly difficult to implement.

yes that would be so cool. Guess it's not going to happened

what? i don't understand what you are saying.

It would be pretty cool, and quite easy for blizzard to implement (I think) seeing as the game state is already there, and you just have to take over from what's happening already.

he said (para-phrasing ^ ^): though it is an awesome idea, his guess is that it won't happened

Technically it is possible.
There could give some time to bind units on your own before the game starts. (optional)

You should ask that the march question submission

It should be the same as loading a saved game, except under a different name right?

That would be a great tool for practicing. Someone should definitely ask blizzard about this, especially seeing how i don't think it would be that hard to implement.

wait, wasn't this done already?

Lol stop saying happened. ^^
It's: His guess is that it won't happen.

I had this idea 5 years ago, let me citate myself: "So a spark ran through my mind - if only there was such a tool that enables you to Save the .rep file at specific moment into the Save file, wouldn't it be great? Like Rep2Map tool, but Rep2Save, for example. For the training purposes and for fun of course. Then one can try that gosu things that we all have watched. Wouldn't you be temptated to try to lockdown 9-10 Battles for 1-2 sec? Or to blind 5-6 observers for the same time? Or to do "The Million Man March"? Or "Trial Of Tears"? Or to try to do any of the great comebacks, even against a comp? Yes, the computer won't react like a man, but anyway. Also different strategies can be tested and the results seen. Yeah, I know that in BW hiding your intensions is vital, and observe the opponent is crucial but ..."
Objections (pretty solid IMO): "Anyway, i like the idea but...i think a played game is a PLAYED game. I dont when people said "I could have won, if I had done that and that"...the point is, that you DIDNT do "that and that", because you were not skilled enough. If I did do perfect micro and macro and tactics...i "could also have won vs boxer or anyone". Nice to have the program anyawy I would say^^"
"But just think people could then download a replay, watch it to the last second, pause it and then save with thier names in there... noone would know unless the replay is well known +_+;;"

What? no I don't think so...

Yes, there exists such a thing for BroodWar.
Would be nice for SC2 though.

Sounds awesome, totally support it. :D

yes, someone made something to do this in broodwar, it might have been a chaos plugin at one ponit (not sure), but i'm pretty sure someone did this. i don't think they kept updating it for new patches though.

Yeah. The thread for it is here .
(sorry for being off-topic kinda)

I've had this idea before and I'm sure everyone else has had it too. I think even blizzard has had that idea. Definitely something to ask blizzard about.
