<NUKED SHIT I WROTE>
]UPDATE I heard rumors the stream wasn't free. I freaked out. Apparently it's only the DirecTV Pay Per View stream (as an alternative way to see it if you don't have DirecTV). I am still confirming some information... but I was worried that the tournament feed was going to be pay and that would have been a huge disappointment.
Back to my cave until I find some concrete info ^_^

It's being reported that the stream this year will not be free... that it will cost $39.95 to watch it on the internet. I'm curious as to what the general SC fanbase thinks of this considering that A> I hadn't heard about it until today, and B> they've never NOT given free access to their streams. Here is what the tidbit on Kotaku said: Show nested quote +Finally, if you'd prefer to stream your BlizzCon coverage streamed through the internet's tubes, you can do that do. The cost is also $39.95 USD. Blizzard uberfans who opt for the Pay Per View version will have access to the online stream at no extra charge. You can find the whole thing here: http://kotaku.com/5241646/blizzcon-tickets-go-on-sale-may-16-event-to-be-streamed-onlineKinda the suck if it's true...
dj plz make a new announcement ~ it needs it's own thread ( plus add the Blizzcon official press release).

"Due to its popularity last year, the DIRECTV® BlizzCon Pay Per View event will return in 2009, available to existing DIRECTV customers for $39.95 USD. The event will again deliver a minimum of eight hours of live HD coverage from the show floor on each day of the convention, including exclusive interviews, demos, and more. In addition, gamers around the world who are unable to attend BlizzCon will for the first time be able to purchase the Pay Per View event as an Internet stream, also priced at $39.95 USD (pricing may vary by region). DIRECTV customers who order the televised event will receive this Internet stream at no extra charge, allowing them to watch in the format of their choice. Anyone who orders the event will also receive this year’s BlizzCon-exclusive World of Warcraft® in-game item -- to be revealed at a later date.
In addition, in the weeks ahead DIRECTV will offer a BlizzCon promotion for those interested in signing up for the DIRECTV television service. New subscribers through this promotion will receive the DIRECTV BlizzCon Pay Per View event, the Internet stream, and the BlizzCon 2009 World of Warcraft in-game item for the price of becoming a new DIRECTV customer. Again I didn't want to cause too much alarm because it's so unclear as to whether or not the "Tournament Feed" they've had in the past will still exist. My initial concern was because they didn't mention it, the only "internet stream" they would have is the DirecTV one. Which of course would probably mean less games and more cosplay. I honestly haven't heard much news other than some rumblings... and that's why this sort of took me by surprise.
I'm gonna try to get some more info.

Well last year the online stream was free but was only showing the tournaments. I believe the DirectTV pay-per-view shows you everything going on.

For those wondering about interenet stream:
"The entire Direct TV broadcast will be available for purchase and the internet stream will be available to those who are not Direct TV customers as well."

great its on a Saturday, hoarders can sit at home more easily. I hope they release a new WoW instance at the same day.
why are they telling us the date of second block of sales? Its like encouraging hoarders to get more? Second sale should be opt in to be raffling thru email, imo.
