I already hate the GSL seed into top 16. Rich gets richer.

They should have just done it based on GSL points rather than placement in the last season. Most recent GSL season's performance makes more sense than points given that there's several Masters, but points carry throughout the year. Doing well in the first GSL of the year shouldn't be relevant to qualifying for the second or third Masters.

Yeah this complaint - if at all - would apply to every region, not just Korea. But really the season finals are showdowns of the top finishing players of every division - aka a "rich get richer" invitational. That is very much the point.

If you smoothed out prize curves even further, would selective players like Dark and Maru participate in MORE events, or would they just retire? What's the breaking point for equity where that happens?

It's not different to any other such tournament that people qualify for. Top performers of a year qualified for BlizzCon, now Katowice. Top performers of one season get the extra opportunity to compete against top performers of other regions for additional money and points. They don't have those thrown at them, they have to perform to earn the opportunity. Really not correct to call it an invitational given that it's based on performance in a season that serves as a qualifier. So yes, the rich get richer, but they have to earn the extra chance. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

First of all, the announcement is insanely late, secondly, there is no mention of it being broadcasted anywhere, and thirdly, youtube already set up the reminder for the first GSL group on Saturday but NOT the one for these games, which are tomorrow... sounds like it will be casted tho.

ESL admins have chosen broadcasters, but it's not public who they are yet. They said in Discord that they just sent out the invitations to folks a few hours ago. This will be broadcast, but we don't know by whom or where yet.

Having a couple of playoff matches like this feels a bit akward, maybe a better system can be made in the future (eight players from Korea?). But it definitely seems the best way to do it for now - much better to have actual matches decide rather than have some inevitably-arbitrary administrative decision decide.

![]() I would've preferred a 4 player group instead of a single elimination bracket, kinda crazy that Maru and Dark can't both qualify together Really cool to have more global events though ![]()

Wasn't there a huge lag issue (for broadcaster) if a caster is from EU and it's being played on KR?
