It's much more fluid than this. Jaedong is 30 years old and is expected to go to the army soon(he has for years, but it seems like he is not allowed to travel now), while Keen had to go being 25(he said he "messed up" with his request of delay).

As far as I understood, they can't delay their enlistment further than their 28th birthday and they are forbid to travel abroad when close enough to that date.
When exactly one begins his military service has to be arranged personally.

Thus said, there are for sure korean people on Team Liquid who way more informed than me on that topic.

Since it got bumped, may as well take a look back at this.

So Rogue and Trap should have retires come next Katowice, probably Cure too.

I totally understand why it’s a thing, in the wider scheme of things our wee scene doesn’t mean much, but it’s a shame to see so many of the players who made it great and we bonded over have to depart.

Any word on Trap/Rogue? Will they have to depart at some particular time, or will it be like Zest where it was known he was to depart but he managed to play the whole season in the end?

Trap / Rogue will be big losses especially, both players capable of pushing deep into tournaments / winning them if things break right. It has been said before but it is sad there isn't a burgeoning crop of young Korean stars to root for (go Percival!); however it does seem like a 2 year break is short enough that programers can still come back at compete, if not at quite the highest level.

soO's service should end soon, but I suspect he might return to Brood War instead of SC2. I know soO & InnoVation were seen "casually" playing in a couple of the ASL qualifiers before they went off for their service.
