Oups, can this be move to blog?
Edit: it can be in general too, your call mod (but you better make the right choice )
|
I think this might be a nice discussion in SC2 General though!

Year of birth is the deciding factor, isn't it? That'd put alive in the same boat as the others aged 27, apart from Classic

The issue as most everyone is likely aware is that it's difficult for the korean SC2 scene to replace the players lost to military service.
That being said I suppose the easiest way to bring new blood into the korean SC2 scene is to send all the old blood off to the military and see what happens next.
|
KeeN said that he is doing his military service too. 2019 GSL season 3 was his last season I think.
|
GSL really won't be the same by 2021. Even 2020 just losing Classic, Keen and Gumiho is so huge.
|
I can't imagine a world without Stats, he has consistently been solid on all 3 MUs, which is very very rare for a protoss

The number of silvers and golds among the 27 year olds is crazy.

On the plus side if we get to 2022-23 one of Impact-Huricane-Bunny-Ragnarok-Trust-Patience or Creator should finally deliver on it's potential and win a GSL. That or Maru win every GSL until he's literally the only player left in the tournament.

It's depressing to think that many of the greatest korean players will leave us so soon. If we're lucky when they return SC3 will be on the horizon.
|
So that means all those 27 years old progamers will not be able to play next year? Or the year after next year?

Leenock and Keen are currently under the army; you forgot MC(July 1991), and LosirA was born in 1992.
All those 27 years old progamers will be at in Classic's shoes in 2020 at least(or worse, since Classic's birthday comes very late in the year).

This is good news. Hopefully after the elites of korean sc2 goes to military, the region lock will be abolished and korean scene will nurture with a lot of new talents.
