LOL so funny blizzard believes "Chinese are so good at vote cheating", now let's see which group of people are better at vote cheating. Before blizzard could actually weigh votes based on IP address, this situation will only get worse.

Damn this will be a disappointing result if it sticks. I guess Elazer is higher ranked in circuit standings but Scarlett skipped an event and wasn't able to play in the first season of Challenger due to playing in GSL. A choice I highly respect her for. Her best result of the year at WESG also didn't award WCS points. Even if they are around the same level Scarlett definitely has a better chance of taking a series off a Korean. She is a more dangerous player with a lot more variety in her play.

To be fair if Scarlett skips a Challenger to go play GSL instead it's her decision and she has to take the consequences of not beeing seeded higher for this event. (and let's skip the whole Korean region lock discussion altogether).

This vote system is derailed so easy, I literally just have to open Twitch, donate 100€ to a famous streamer and ask him to link this thread in his channel and say "gogogo votebomb this guy in, it will be fun".

The GSL situation was a mess. When she chose GSL, she mentioned that it might be her last GSL ever and that was likely a factor in her choice. No one knew at the time that the lock would be removed immediately after.

not true, the official wcs rule book stated the rule (even that it only was for season 1) and that was released before gsl started

also scarlett got a lot of her wcs circuit points from the region locked wcs winter where in the na edition there were like 3 good players, while the eu edition was pretty stacked ...
and she also profits from the basically free wcs challenger points from season 2, i mean if she doesnt f-up extremly hard she should always get 140 points from that ... for the eu players thats quite different there they have a real competition for these points ...

not saying that the elazer vote thingy isn’t pretty sad and bad

The rule book did not state it was only for one season. Every indication at the time was that this was the new rule going forward. She wanted to play GSL one more time before focusing on WCS, but as it turns out that sacrifice wasn't really necessary.

And I find EU region lock complaints to be incredibly hypocritical considering how much EU has benefitted from KR being locked out.

To be honest, in a bigger picture this is quite good for Starcraft. Having more exposure of the game outside of the bubble of the community itself can bring more people to find an interest on it, even if you get 1~2 new players of all those votes only, it will be players that wouldn't be playing Starcraft otherwise.

Ideally all the players would have those kind of friendships and the competition would be on high standards. As much as Reynor joked, imagine if PewDiePie actually campaign for him? That would be great for the scene.

On the other hand, it surely will feel bitter for the players that have no such contacts.

people said that last year too (when kela got voted by the br. cs community) but almost none (if even any) of them watched the tournament or any other sc2 related stuff

Most of them surely didn't, but we can't precise to say none. Maybe there's a way to see the playerbase increase from Brazil from that day?

Plus, I meant more the exposure of the game than the event itself, people going like "Starcraft? What's that? Let me check." kind of.

Which would be far better accomplished with a big LoL or CS:GO player maybe doing a segment publicising the game, have their bro on talking about it, explain the game a bit maybe demo it for people and say ‘by the way I have this big tournament coming up please vote for me.

Or publicise the game in such a manner outside of any voting process altogether.

As it is it just feels personalities say ‘vote in this poll’ to their fanbase who duly oblige.

It’s just how any online vote tends to work nowadays, smaller communities can just get trounced by one big ‘influencer’, or a troll campaign can just completely derail something.

Modern social media has whatever catches hold grow exponentially bigger, way easier and faster than used to be the case, sometimes for good sometimes not.

to be fair, scarlett's got a ton of easy points by playing NA challengers and WCS winter NA, while elazer outperformed her at both WCS spring and WCS summer

The WCS rule book was not released until after GSL started. Do you not remember the whole mess of confusion that occurred with players making vague uncertain statements? It was only after the fact that Blizzard made the announcement.

We tested a rule change for players competing in Season 1 of GSL, restricting them from participating in Season 1 of WCS Challenger. Our goal was to limit the number of WCS Circuit players who would compete in the Korean tournament, but instead it caused all but one of the registered Circuit players to pull out of the GSL competition. That was not our intention, and we are rolling back this rule for Season 2 and 3, bringing the residency rules back to as they were in 2018.

They only decided to revert the rule after they realized almost no foreigners were playing.

Due to the GSL choice she has only gotten extra points by playing in Challenger once so far. WCS Winter NA wasn't really that easy. America is easy but WCS NA was pretty much all WCS players besides EU. Special and Neeb are both top 4 non-koreans and Time is right up in the top 8 range as well. WCS Summer their runs were extremely similar. They both got second in their groups. Elazer went out 0-3 to Heromarine and Scarlett went out 0-3 to Showtime. Elazer finished one round higher due to beating TLO. Scarlett didn't even play in WCS Spring so yeah I'd hope Elazer outperformed her there.

That's super clownish. As long as Reynor is in, it doesn't hurt that much(I hope Scarlett will focus to do well in Montreal and get to BlizzCon).

This is pretty low down and dirty. My opinion of Elazer (which wasn’t really strong either way) has gone down quite heavily in the last six hours. If you’re good enough people will vote for you. Results should matter.
