Every indication at the time was that this was the new rule going forward. She wanted to play GSL one more time before focusing on WCS, but as it turns out that sacrifice wasn't really necessary. And I find EU region lock complaints to be incredibly hypocritical considering how much EU has benefitted from KR being locked out.

Plus, I meant more the exposure of the game than the event itself, people going like "Starcraft? What's that? Let me check." kind of. Which would be far better accomplished with a big LoL or CS:GO player maybe doing a segment publicising the game, have their bro on talking about it, explain the game a bit maybe demo it for people and say ‘by the way I have this big tournament coming up please vote for me. Or publicise the game in such a manner outside of any voting process altogether. As it is it just feels personalities say ‘vote in this poll’ to their fanbase who duly oblige. It’s just how any online vote tends to work nowadays, smaller communities can just get trounced by one big ‘influencer’, or a troll campaign can just completely derail something. Modern social media has whatever catches hold grow exponentially bigger, way easier and faster than used to be the case, sometimes for good sometimes not.

I guess Elazer is higher ranked in circuit standings but Scarlett skipped an event and wasn't able to play in the first season of Challenger due to playing in GSL. A choice I highly respect her for. Her best result of the year at WESG also didn't award WCS points. Even if they are around the same level Scarlett definitely has a better chance of taking a series off a Korean. She is a more dangerous player with a lot more variety in her play. to be fair, scarlett's got a ton of easy points by playing NA challengers and WCS winter NA, while elazer outperformed her at both WCS spring and WCS summer

We tested a rule change for players competing in Season 1 of GSL, restricting them from participating in Season 1 of WCS Challenger. Our goal was to limit the number of WCS Circuit players who would compete in the Korean tournament, but instead it caused all but one of the registered Circuit players to pull out of the GSL competition. That was not our intention, and we are rolling back this rule for Season 2 and 3, bringing the residency rules back to as they were in 2018. They only decided to revert the rule after they realized almost no foreigners were playing.

WCS Winter NA wasn't really that easy. America is easy but WCS NA was pretty much all WCS players besides EU. Special and Neeb are both top 4 non-koreans and Time is right up in the top 8 range as well. WCS Summer their runs were extremely similar. They both got second in their groups. Elazer went out 0-3 to Heromarine and Scarlett went out 0-3 to Showtime. Elazer finished one round higher due to beating TLO. Scarlett didn't even play in WCS Spring so yeah I'd hope Elazer outperformed her there.
