The world needs more heroes like him, not some make-believe all talk and no action personas, but people who actually try to make a difference. Rest in peace John.

TB produced so much content on SC2 alone, I followed it only partially. There were some stories how he and Genna cared about Axiom, for example gifting Ipads to the players. Oh how nice. But it still was like this was a given. TB was there and he demonstrated a different way. It felt normal. I remember his last Blizzcon appearance (on stream.) Visibly weakened, I still believed he would survive. He had only a couple of month to live. I remember his public message, a kind of this public part of his testament. Still thought, ah it is surely not that bad. Then the news came.

I think people forget there was a sizeable skeptic group about this guy mostly known for WoW when he first entered the scene, we have many qualities as a community but a tendency to elitism is one of our worst. I think it’s testament to his passion and actions that the idea of TB not being a respected pillar of the community seems laughable. He is remembered most fondly for his ability to entertain, that few have. Perhaps he should equally be lauded for his ability to treat his charges decently, an ability open to many but exercised by too few in this industry.

At a time when a lot of household names vanished overnight with no explanations as the game's popularity faltered, TotalBiscuit stayed, endured, persevered, and he remained a pillar of the community from his humble beginning to the bitter end. John once famously said on a twitch stream back in 2014 "SC2 will live even if I have to support the entire scene with my erect penis". 6 years later, John may be gone but StarCraft 2 is alive and well, in a big part thanks to him. TotalBiscuit, may your legacy live forever.
