I didn't notice this article until April 2nd, and was quite confused until I realized when it was posted.

Good read!

Not even mentioning patchX is usually referred to nonames becoming competitive while X race starts to dominate tournaments, korean Zerg didn't reach a single final after April last year, only Reynor did at WCS Montreal; not exactly the overbearing performance one overpowered race should show, don't you think? Zerg was having even or slightly favourable matchups, yet Serral won every tournament he entered while the others failed to even win one.

You're forgetting that in 2018 a tier 3 non-Korean pro finally won a premiere tournament off the back of a match up that was Wings of Liberty level imbalanced in favor of Zerg. The match up was somewhat fixed after that but was still Zerg favored for pretty much all of 2018.

Calling Scarlett tier 3 is actually disrespectful in my opinion; in any of case, that happened months before Serral started dominating globally, it's not even the same patch.

@Xainon: you realize you're getting trolled, right?

NinjaNight is most likely trolling but the joke was becoming persistent so it made me doubt; others in this thread, however, are dead serious so I felt a proper answer was needed.

While Rodya's temp ban should be over in less than one week, Dave4 was permabanned. It would have been fun to see his reaction to this article; moreover, he was right about HSC's Drunk Rank.

Haha, not exactly trolling. It was pure sarcasm =)

Is it really? How big are your tiers?

Depending on how finely you wanna divide tiers, I could see an argument for Tier 3. Like, tier 1 being only a champion or two, the guys that looked unstoppable. Tier 2 being the championship contenders, the ones that had a chance but missed, maybe 5-10 players. Then Scarlett would be tier 3.

My tiers are evidently larger than yours, I would call dominating players like Serral or Maru in 2018 S-tier, the élite tier 1, the solid outsiders tier 2; a tier 3 player should be a good one who really has few chanches to win a tournament, Scarlett won a IEM and just got a fourth place at WESG(not considering the results she had before LoTV), I think she's tier 2 at least.

Let's just say that I was very confused to see "Aprillipäivä" at the end not because it wasn't relevant to the article but because I though google had done its share of auto-translating again

That's what I was thinking.
Tier 1 - Champions (Serral, Neeb)
Tier 2 - Contenders (SpeCial, ShoWTimE, Lambo, Reynor, HeRoMaRinE etc.)
Tier 3 - Players I've heard of
Tier 4 - Who?

You have to make a top 4 more often than once every 2 years to be placed in my contender list.

You could probably split Tier 3 into playoff regulars and players I've heard of.

The split of the WCS Circuit into EU and Americas throws a giant wrench into that.

God help me, I have to add soO to my champions tier for Korea.

She was a solid tier 3 player prior to that win. She's definitely up in the Champion/Contender tier now, especially with the WCS America being only a few players deep.

I don’t know who Rodya is, but every player who has been “undeniably the best in the world” has suddenly started losing tournaments throughout the history of sc2. Serral is still young though, it’s possible he hasn’t reached his full potential yet.

Between 2004 and 2010 all TL did was copy and paste Fomos articles.
