Just want to add a funning anecdote following Innovation's victory.
As Innovation took the final victory against Serral, there's a BGM at WESG. Just want to give a quick explanation to folks here as this is a culture-specific meme/joke.
The BGM is a fan-made song called "Lightening Innovation" (my own translation), originally created by a Chinese SC2 fan during Innovation's down time last year. The music came from a Chinese pop back to the 1990s, and the lyric is simply funny as a review of Innovation's career and an encouragement to Innovation to get a champion again.
So when WESG played it as the background music as Innovation heading to the trophy. You can image the dramatic effect of it among the Chinese SC2 Community.
Here is the full version of the song played at WESG, which has English-subtitle (not perfect, but comprehensible). There is a button at the bottom of the player to turn off those on-screen comments.

"White Gate" is 白门楼, the place where the real Lv Bu died.
When Inno loses, Chinese fans say that he died at the White Gate. After he lost repeatedly, people started saying/memeing that 白门楼上挂满了吕布的尸体, meaning "White Gate is packed full of Lv Bu's bodies." It grew to the point where Inno's haters were called 白门楼建设集团, the "White Gate Construction Company."

OK. Challenge taken. Here's a brief explanation of the "White Gate" meme in Chinese SC2 culture.
Xiaose from SCboy is known for his "jinx mouth". His favourite players tend to loose in "mysterious ways" during tournaments. Innovation is, unfortunately, his favourite Terran player. Xiaose also popularized the nickname "Lv Bu" for Innovation among the Chinese SC2 community.
"Lv Bu", the mighty warrior in "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" had two pivotal moments in his life. The "battle at Tiger's Trap" (Tiger Cage Pass), in which he got a landslide victory, and then "White Gate", where he got ambushed and lost his life.
So when Xiaose casted Innovation's game, fans were pondering whether his curse would lead to another "white gate". Of course as we know, at this year's WESG, despite being casted by Xiaose and F91, Innovation still got the final victory, and escaped the fate of "white gate".

but what about Tiger Cage Pass
I was just translating things based on my intuition. Have edited my original explanation. The "Tiger's Trap" there is "Tiger Cage Pass", in which LV BU was able to end a duel against the collective efforts of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei. In particular, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were also extremely strong warriors in The Romance of Three Kingdoms. Guan Yu, in later Chinese folk legends was regarded as the "God of Warriors", and in fact, Chinese SC2 community refers ByuN as "Guan Yu/God of Warriors".
So Innovation's victory this time is definitely the moment of "Tiger Cage Pass". And we will see, whether in GSL later he can do it again by surviving from three Protoss players

Wax coming in with the proper translations
What do they call it in Korean?
Don't know, there must be some memes there as well. In the Chinese SC2 Community, the most popular players are always the ones with memorable memes. Innovation and Soo are arguably the most popular players in China, Innovation for being a robotic "Lv Bu", and Soo for his legendary "Soocond" career.
BTW: the warrior associated with Soo in "The Romance of the Three Kingdom" is Dian Wei, someone with enormous power, and very aggressive fighting style, but could be tricked by cunning strategies. A perfect description of Soo's game style.

Edit: Ohhh Back Ground Music, right
Got it. I did not realize that BGM may not be a very common abbreviation. Hope you laugh at the video~
tbh I think Baimen is a better name than so-called White Gate. When you translate a Chinese name into English, you can just use pinyin. For example,Beijing means North Capital in Chinese, but we never say "North Capital" in English.

There's no one rule determining how things are translated! For example "Romance of the three kingdoms" just sounds better than "Sanguo Yanyi," and memes also just follow what is funnier/sounds better. Similar to how for Korean memes "Kong" is used instead of just "nut/soybean." Gotta let the community decide

Can we appreciate that SC2 player have almost all got across their awkward teen puberty years and that we now have this group of good looking boys and girls?
Also it's great that we seems to have a lot more contact between the chinese and english scene in the last few months (at least on ours end)
Thanks for sharing, it always nice to see how passionate and awesome the Chinese Starcraft community is and I love getting these glimpses into it. The song made me laugh and that live video where the fans are singing is awesome!

My apologies for bumping this. I only just stumbled across it now. As it was referenced in an article posted yesterday I figure there's a good chance others will want to discuss it.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that it's beautiful, even if it is a bit of a meme. So epic!
