Hi Guys,
you may know my written interviews with Nony and Zombiegrub.
This time I got the chance to do an audio interview with Nick "Tasteless" Plott.

Please be patient - it was my first interview of that kind. That is why it is also split in three parts. Its about 70 minutes in total.

Listening to it now, thank you very much for this! Man, I feel so bad for Tasteless with the wrist injury. Having same problems, and I know how shitty it can be when you love gaming, but have to learn to use mouse with your left hand lol
|
glad you are enjoying thanks! and yeah man that injury must be so annoying...
|
thx for posting the time stamps of each segment.
repetitive strain injuries are hell. hopefully, tasteless recovers from it. i had 2 years of hell battling medial epicondylitis and learned more about human body than i care to admit.
thx for posting. tasteless sounds so down-to-earth, relaxed, and natural. Hopefully this relieves people's paranoia that he secretly hates SC2 and is shilling for Blizz.
anyhow, great interview.
|
Great interview. Agreed with pretty much everything Tasteless said about BW and the upcoming remaster.
Someone should post this to /r/starcraft so more people see it.
|
Thanks for the interview. Always nice to have some more Tastosis content.
|
Thanks guys @JimmyJRaynor
Yeah I think that weird paranoia is way over the top if you hear him talking positive and passionate like that!
|
|
Great questions and some really insightful answers by Mr. Plott. I really liked the answer he gave regarding the "dead game" toxicity going around. Thanks for the interview!
|
Thanks for posting - really good interview.
What's that really annoying noise that keeps happening?

[Insert obligatory Sc2 ded game joke]
Fun interview and well done on the timestamps. I feel you missed an opportunity by not asking the man about what he feels about the design of the game instead of the balance, even though it was nice to hear him substantiate why his opinion on balance is what it is.
|
thx for the interview, I could listen to tasteless talking about SC for hours on end.
Good job setting this up!
|
Great interview, Tasteless is such a good sport, he's always trying to let you know if you're doing good, and trying never to sound disrespectful in any way.
|
Thank you for the interview! I'm happy this was posted because it was very entertaining!
The cat meows made it that much better. But I could listen to Tasteless for hours. I hope more interviews come in the future!
|
Pretty cool interview. I want to talk to Nick about philosophy one day....
|
Thank you guys
@Suchbalancemuchwow @andiCR
On a side note here: I was really nervous about this whole thing, thats why I basically stuck to my script to not loose track. But at this point in time I feel I missed out on a lot of opportunity, because Tasteless is such a good talker. You give him just some small entrance and he goes at it like a pro!
@Frudgey
totally forgot to ask the cats name, I bet its not DUDE! ;-D
@Farml3oy
me too! I read that he studied it, would love to find out more about it.

Seems like Tasteless is in denial about the death of sc2. Even with all the teams collapsing, sponsors leaving, and viewer counts going down, he still won't concede that sc2 is dying.
It's a shame, because he is a talented commentator and could do very well commentating other titles. There's really no point in clinging on to sc2 and hoping for a miracle resurgence. This is one of the few times that I really do wish Tasteless would lose his passion towards sc2, that way we can see him succeed with other titles.
Tasteless if you read this, don't take this the wrong way. I'm only concerned for your future, wishing you the best.

Awesome interview! I actually listened to the whole thing and was entertained the whole time and didn't want it to end. :D

Hi SuperFanBoy,
although it could be that I m feeding trolls here:
That is exactly what Tasteless was saying during the interview - countering your points.
He knows Blizzards Plans for SC2 (A Billion Dollar Company, world leader in gaming) he knows the viewerships of Afreecaa, so thats why is positive, not out of some sentiment or emotion. There are facts behind his position.
And even leaving Tasteless out of this: if you follow other Scenes, its amazing to see how stable SC2 still is. Remember: its not about the size, its about how you use it...

The point about Starcraft not needing to get back to top eSports popularity is a very good one. If the scene is stable, if people still enjoy playing and watching, then it's all good.

Cool interview, thanks Lambertus for getting up early to produce some content for the community.
Regarding the question around getting bored of watching the same thing over and over - I don't see how it's is any different from other spectator sports that haven't changed for a hundred years. Tennis and Football spectators don't complain either, no two matches are ever the same and the skill level is almost always improving! Those that love the game, whatever it may be, and keep watching get rewarded with understanding of the subtleties and nuances, not to mention as well as the story lines.
SC/SC2 has arguably more variety in many ways than other sports due to its 6 match-ups, each playing uniquely. I'll even take a punt and go so far as to assert that there are very few examples indeed of competitive games with SC's level of asymmetry that have also managed to achieve the level of balance that Blizzard have. Sure it's not perfect but it's pretty damn close given the challenge.

@AaBbCc
thanks I like your point with traditional sports. Once I had the chance to talk to a sports journalist, and he stated something similar. The longer you follow a sport, the more you change how you watch and enjoy it. Its keeps evolving.

Nice interview, enjoyed it alot!
|
Thank you
PS: Any mods could maybe give this a place on "Community News"? That would be so nice!
