Super was a brick wall in game one, but Maru found better results by constantly sniping Super's colossi in game two. Thors were the story of the final game as Maru moved into a thor/siege tank composition that won a basetrade to give Maru the series.
Dark's early ling/bane attack in game one set him up for a lethal nydus attack to take an advantage against Curious. The rest of the match went better for Gatekeeper. He won a pair of roach vs roach games, the first going up to four bases, the other a quick bopping, riding early leads to victory in both.
The winners' match was over in a flash. Maru's hellbat push met no resistance in game one, while early banshee harass put Maru far enough ahead so that his follow up bio push easily took down Curious' meager ling/bane/queen army. This made Maru the first to advance out of Group C.
Dark bounced back from his loss with a vengeance. Super had no answer to his ling/bane/hydra style in game one and was caught off guard by a roach/ling attack on Proxima Station. There was a glimmer of hope when an archon drop killed 15 drones, but Dark's follow up attack with ravagers set up a rematch with Curious.
Dark seized the advantage in game one of the losers' match with a feigned muta switch. Curious tried for hydras as well as tunneling claws, but neither held off Dark’s larger roach army. Game two ended swiftly as banelings broke down Curious' defenses. Dark's ling flood sealed the deal and made him the second player to escape the group.
Maru and Dark advance to the round of 16.
