Solar becomes the first SC2 player to join Splyce, quickly being picked up soon after leaving Samsung.
Splyce is a multigame organization with teams in CoD, CSGO, LoL, WoW, HS, OW, GoW and Smash Bros.

Solar moves fast. It took him all of 13 hours before finding a new team.
|
Well thats certainly unexpected. GLHF solar!

Never heard of this team before, hope they treat him well.

Especially since they are sponsored by Twitch! Can't seem to get the video to work for me.

would've loved if expert just picked up all the top tier koreans like dark solar stats zest in addition to byun and become the banjo team :D

I really liked their calendar. They had a lot of niche esports there, but apparently they discontinued that part of their website very recently. Oh well, can't be helped.

Really cool to see a team like Splyce picking up a SC2 player.
|
That's pretty cool actually. New team entering the scene!
And to anyone doubting Splyce, they're legit.

this looks pretty shady, hope they dont rip him off, like we have seen with for example MC and trig esports.

And they have sponsors like AMD, G-Fuel, Corsair and Viewsonic. Not some random shady ass team like we normally see enter the SC2 scene.

Hey folks. Owner of Splyce here. Apologies to those who may be worried we aren't legit. I will throw some background on us here:
In our first year we: 2nd in EULCS and made Worlds 1st in EU Call of Duty and 2nd in world championship Won Blizzcon in Warcraft Csgo team went to MLG Major in 2016 MacD (#15) and Nintendude (#25) in Smash Th3RaT (top 5 NA) in Hearthstone #1 Gears of War team in LATAM Top ten Overwatch team

Great pick with Solar!!! Wish you all the best of luck, will be cheering for your team now

Gratz to Splyce and Solar! Out of all the koreans he surely is the best fit for a western team
I really hope some other orgs which are into other esports will follow and get 1-2 korean players for their teams as well. Probably not worth it though :/

Thanks for bringin some good news to StarCraft II!
Solar is a really solid pickup as well. Best of luck to him!

Great pick. Congratz to both sides and best of luck!

Sounds awesome! Solar is probably one of the best picks a team could get entering the StarCraft scene! Do they have any tournament WCS information yet? Because that seems to be the interesting part in my eyes if we talk about koreans in 2017 :-/
|
splyce won blizzcon wow arena twice i believe as well.
|
He will be streaming on Twitch. We partner with a number of platforms for VOD content, including Dingit. (Video.splyce.gg for example is where most of our video archives are). And he does plan to stream quite frequently
|
Pickup soO aswell and you have perfect swarm duo :>
|
unexpected, i only know a little from that team but apparently they are lol based
edit : just saw the post above
|
I'm genuinely curious about what prompted Splyce to enter the SC2 scene, how they came into contact with Solar, and if they are interested in picking up any other talented and teamless Koreans. Either way, I'm glad Solar found a team!

GG to Splyce for entering the scene! Welcome!

A relatively new team, but as far as I know they treat their players well. Their most successful teams are in League where they got 2nd in the EU LCS and some console FPS games.
I did write for them for a bit as a freelancer.
They're a legit team unlike say Quantic.

I'm glad to see a team moving INTO SC2. That in itself is good news.

I'm glad there are still teams willing to expand into SC2, especially when they're legit ones.

They are a mainstay in LoL.
I appreciate them delving into SC2, and I don't think they are a shady teams.

I'd never heard of Splyce until now, but reading the comments above I'm really hyped! Congrats to Solar and to Splyce - it's great to hear of a new team entering SC2

I guess the influx of foreign teams is a positive thing, wish we had more Korean sponsors try their hand at running a team now that the big boys are gone.
|
Great! Very happy for Solar!! Hopefully the team does indeed continue to support him! Pretty young team it seems, but I guess the many branches is reassuring?
We should check that the teams in the other games actually are paid their salaries on time, have proper contracts and so on. I guess big warning signs to look out for are dodgy (or no!) contracts, money flowing through team owners pocket or personal account, and delayed payments? Others will be more knowledgeable than me on this.
No offense meant to you or your team lazerchicken, there are a just a lot of dodgy teams around trying to project an aura of success until it suddenly turns out they are deep deep into the red, and usually it's the players that take the hit. It's a bit sad all in all and we've been burned a fair few times in sc2, so some of us want to look out for our players by now. I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from.
That said, looking forward to the streaming!

sweet, that little bugger deserves a new team

never heard of them but this is cool

Awesome news, never heard of them but will cheer for them ^_^

Sweet. Let's hope some more teams will pick up the cream like Stats, Test, Dark etc..
|
Hope it works for him! GL!
|
How cool is that? Congrats Solar! Welcome Splyce!
|
Grats to Solar, good to know he has a team that will support him. He's a really cool guy and a good player, ideal combination marketing-wise, so probably a good pick-up for Splyce. Also excited to hear that Solar will stream on Twitch!
|
Great news! More teams to SC2!

Splyce ftw!
I guess... hope they last with sc2

According to Sports Interaction, Solar is going to face Dark and Hero in 20 minutes. Anyone know what they are playing in?

He won't cast today unfortunately

Right now we're just picking up Solar, though it's always possible in the future. We have been looking at the scene for about 6 months, but we didn't find a player we wanted until now. Solar was perfect for our org - great personality, incredible talent, and the ability to bring championships.

No offence taken, I get it - you want to make sure your favorite players are taken care of. The thing I'll point out to is this - all five LCS players came back and they could have gone many places (they made first and second team All EULCS in summer split, went to worlds, and had second in Europe) yet they chose to stay. Players don't stay when conditions are bad unless they have no other options. Our coach, won coach of the split in Summer, and he stayed as well. In Call of Duty, we were able to shape our roster in the way we wanted, because players wanted to come to Splyce. I know these are only words, but hopefully it shows you a bit of how players have enjoyed being at our org.
|
Well, best of luck to Solar then. I'd surely enjoy an interview with him on joining Splyce and his goals, maybe when 2017 WCS is announced. Just an idea, Mr. Lazerchickenzzz
|
I actually think this is very interesting. Splyce is a relatively large team, and they are actually investing in SC2 when it's in a very.... uncertain state. Having a "bigger" team like Splyce come in means the scene might be able to recover from the dissolution of Kespa teams.
|
