In a video blog iNcontroL has announced that starting 2017 he will no longer be under the EG brand. He also opened up about the future direction of the team explaining that the team is moving away from supporting 'talent' and back to its roots of supporting esports teams. He also confirmed that EG have moved away from SC2 citing that it no longer makes sense for the company to support the game. iNcontroL stressed that decision to part ways was mutual and is the best for both parties.
While not set in stone, he did discuss a number of his future plans. He has signed with the representation agency CSA in hopes of gaining future opportunities (other members of CSA include Seltzer, Smix, and Anna). He also plans to be a full time streamer in 2017 with most of his channels content being SC2 related. Other projects include a "weekly studio produced" show starting in January; likely to be co-hosted with DJWheat on the topic of comics, pop culture, video games and so on. He is also likely to continue to be involved with Role Play hosted by JP and commentate SHOUTcraft Kings in 2017.
This is one of those few things where I'm more optimistic than sad. EG has been winding out of SC2 for a long time now, it isn't a surprise, but it will be cool to see where incontrol goes from here. He's a great caster and community figure so I think he will do well.
Best of luck in the years to come, Geoff. Very excited about the prospect of new podcasts-- I still get the urge now and then to go back and listen to vintage SOTG episodes. One of the best things about this community is how we (fans) can relate to the content creators as old friends, even though we've never met.
Wow Incontrol pulling the old "I am going to stay in the starcraft scene" when he is turning his back on us. I hope you die eaten by a shark, after you just escape of your car you drove into the ocean because you got your eye burn by trying to watch an eclipse while driving.

Nope. iNcontrol was the last one. It's sad to see one of the last remaining big organizations fade out of StarCraft, especially considering how much history EG has had with the game. It was a great ride with them.

I think the era passed when Alex Garfield left... as for your question, does Suppy count? Him and HuK are the only active EG members left from what I can tell anyway, but that's probably only until the end of the year.

I have never heard of or seen a Halo tournament gaining any large attention in the past few years yet EG has a Halo team and not SC2... Doesn't make any sense to me yet here we are and I agree it's super sad to see
Thanks everyone I'm officially leaving EG after December so I still have time to enjoy the team until then. Like I said in the video too: totally still doing everything sc2 that I can!

Any plans on streaming those sick old ass games you've been flaunting on Twitter recently?

If you want to continue being a content creator, maybe bring back State of the Game? If there's a Patreon page for that, I would sign up.
Please this. I still, to this day, listen to the old episodes during my commutes to and from work when they pop up in my shuffle. I dream of SotG coming back!
EG has been non existent in sc2 for years. I'm surprised they let this drag on instead of just officially announcing that they had moved to other (more profitable) games.
This is good for Geoff as he's no longer tied to EG.
This is good for Geoff as he's no longer tied to EG.
That "tied to EG" part also includes a salary and probably travel expenses and accommodation and stuff like that though. And probably a pretty good one.
That said I'm pretty confident someone this entertaining (who also happens to be good at games unlike most streamers) and with his kinds of connections will continue to be successful even without EG's support. :D

Can you get back your TL Mod status back and start trolling/banning people?
Thats incontrol saying (in a very subtile way) that SC2 is a ded gaem. no hate against incontrol, he is a great guy and i think something has to change for SC2 in the future to prevail its death. Like attracting new teams and maybe advertise SC2 a bit more elsewhere. but i really dont know...

Yeah this was kinda going to happen with EG after finally released Jaedong even though he hasn't retired was logical to kill the sc2 division. The "rebrand" rumors and merging during Dota shuffle also kinda confirmed a redirection for EG.
Im sure Geoff be fine though, many jobs he can do inside our world of ESports, from casting to streaming to being a youtuber as well.
Good luck Geoff! You're one of the most respected and well-loved figures in the SC2 community. The game wouldn't be the same without you. Thanks for everything that you do!
So it was like EG: "Hey Geoff, we don't care about SC2 anymore, time to move on" iNcontroL: "Dude, I care about SC2, which is why I moved on a long time ago. I just kept the tag for old times sake and the free Monsters" EG: "Yeah, we're out of Monsters" iNcontroL: "Keep your tag then. I'm gonna make my own tag; with blackjack and hookers"
At this point, I didn't really care about EG anymore, because it seems they were gone for quite some time already. However, I'm really glad seeing iNcontroL stick around. IMO iNcontroL is among the most entertaining casters out there. Especially in an environment like HSC he's just brillant. :-P
edit: Question though: Why would you give up on StarCraft II and at the same time buy a CoD team? Isn't CoD at least as irrelevant as StarCraft II in eSports-terms?

Yeah. Very Sad. I was a big fan of EG some years in the past when the team played in proleague with TL. So much big names played under EG Banner : Stephano, Thorzain, Puma, JYP, Jaedong ...One of my favorite foreign team for sure. Personnaly, I put this new (Geoff leaves EG/ no more sc2 in EG) at the same level of the proleague end annoucement. Nowadays, hard to be a sc2 fan.
I sadly have less and less time for streamers these days, but iNcontrols has a special place in my esports heart and I will continue to check in on it from time to time. Best of luck Geoff!
Anyway, really sad to see him leave, became a 'fan' during the SotG podcast and really like his casting. Edit: Yay, Incontrol casting Shoutcraft Kings, that's going to be great.
Sad, I thought now that there are so many koreans available EG would buy a korean all-star team consisted of Zest, soO, INnoVation, Dark, TY and Stats and dominate the scene from now on. + Show Spoiler +
Good luck to both parties. Hard to picture them separate since its been a long journey through time together. I still miss the old EG house in Arizona days.
It's easy to be critical of Geoff (and EG, let's be honest, they were the evil empire) but only cause he puts himself out there in such an honest way. I'm glad he'll be sticking around even if not with EG. Enjoyed HSC last weekend. Events like that highlight why Starcraft needs Incontrol!
On November 24 2016 14:07 Darkness2k11 wrote: Incontrol almost made me die because I couldn't stop laughing watching HSC last weekend haha, hope all goes well for him!
Ikr he LITERALLY is one of the best in our scene :D
Thanks for sticking with SC2 and I'm excited to see more streaming stuff and commentating from you. Definitely one of the most entertaining personalities in the scene.

this is probably the best way to express how good you think the game is. Actions speak louder than words.
SC2 and the people who made it are awesome. And so are the guys that support it by playing and streaming.
On November 25 2016 03:25 ninazerg wrote: iNcontrol not being EG is like Mondragon saying he isn't German anymore.
Haha... I feel that. Surprised EG isn't interested in using him as a face for their organization in a larger capacity, but then again maybe that's just not something Geoff would be interested in either.
Geoff if you're reading this, good luck with your transition! I'm sure you'll continue to be very successful
plz idra comeback! Quick while there a community! Man, this is too much bad news for me to deal in one week
User was warned for this post sorry TL couldnt resist this time, all my staple names going out of the game or dwindling, again, sad times i feel myself not playing the game everyday now which will be the first hiatus in near 20 years
That is sad but hopefully good news for further growth! Im happy for you and I really do wish you the best! Hopefully really cool stuff will come out of this!
There's others too but 80% of this highlight vid is Incontrol and 2GD.
Possibly my favourite SC2 vid to date.
OMG that was something! Why isn't SC2 like that anymore.
It very rarely was. That kind of commentary is reserved for HSC and Assembly. Basically only when Geoff and 2GD were together did it get like that
Only the ASUS ROG tournaments where the GD studio was involved, which I think was only like 2, at most 3 of them. Previous Assembly events were nothing like that and I think more recently their SC2 events downscaled quite a bit.
Maybe he should consider career outside of gaming. SC2 scene seems to be shrinking and is now pretty much niche in gaming as well.
He has had pretty good public appearances over the years for pretty big audiences, that might be helpful outside gaming. If his passion is public speaking and he has a college degree, maybe he could be on a lookout for example radio host jobs or some public representative (which he pretty much has been for EG for about 4-5 years now).
I mean, if he thinks he can make a living out of SC2 in long run, that's fine. Numbers don't look too good right now for that.
Incontrol is one of the funniest guys in the community. Although I'm just a lurker (since the beginning of SC2), it breaks my heart a little bit that SC2 is dying that slow death. So each one sticking to it is good news!
Incontrol could be a successful comedian. I regret not becoming one when people told me I should be after high school...now I'm so bad with jokes and can't keep a straight face. I wish I still have that poker face when telling jokes like Incontrol.

I am so, so excited that Geoff is going to be working to grow his own, personal brand. This is a new and exciting chapter for him and his fans . He has more than enough talent and charisma - I know he'll become a huge streamer in addition to his current presence as a caster, host, and personality.
This marks both an end and a beginning.
And I couldn't be happier to see him as a permanent fixture on RollPlay. Geoff and DJWheat have always been the heart of the RollPlay shows. Any time I see those two get together I get a huge smile plastered on my face.
A couple years back I thought incontrol was cringy and had terrible commentary. Fast forward to present day I think he is legitly funny. Hope to see more great work next year too!
All the best Geoff! I can still vividly remember the active forum poster {88}InControl in WGTour forum. Who would've thought this guy would make it so big back then.
Really happy to know what you've accomplished all these years and looking forward to hear from you again!
So I am myself taking a break from SC2 because of the new patch. Really dislike the way the game is moving but I wanted to give a big shoutout to Incontrol. You have done so much for the scene throughout the years. Streaming, casting, being part of EG, talkshows and being an overall fantastic community figure. So thanks for your passion and everything else that has made you such an important part of this community. Glad to see you are still gonna be part of the SCII scene.
I wish you all the best in the future whatever it might bring.
Good luck Geoff, I'm kinda disapointed because I kinda assumed after all this time, you were going to transition into some type of career at EG/Twitch/Amazon like I've seen some other EG people have done.
You're a smart, clever guy so I know you'll find your path.
You're top tier talent homey. I shared Gamestop's midnight opening of Starcraft 2 with you. SC2 has been a great run and I'm sure someone of your caliber will find success. Keep working hard. It will be rewarded!
good luck, geoff. i have not always been a fan but i have come to really appreciate you - both from your commentating and on the co-optional podcast. i think you will do very well in your new venture and look forward to continuing to follow you. :-)

Who moderates this site? Angela Merkel? Banning InControl's fan for a goofy/trolly farewell post... Is this a gaming website?
Is it possible InControl might appreciate this creative, joking paragraph more than a post that just says "Bye InControl!"?? There was nothing that was mean-spirited that was meant seriously in the post and if you think there was then you are mentally ill.
haven't been watching much SC2 since LotV released but I always find myself trying to tune in to events where Geoff is on the panel or commentating. One of the funniest guys in all of esports and absolutely my favorite SC2 player/personality. The guy is gonna keep kicking butt I'm sure :D

I'm glad I got to experience Incontrol's commentary and watch his playing. Honestly just a really great part of the community and I'm glad he's staying in it - even if EG is getting out of SC2.

about your quote. what if everyone hacked man? what would the next stage look like? players would learn to hack against other hackers, hacking the hacks. hacking would become commonplace, accepted, mainstream. the world would be a better place because hackers were excellent computer scientists and social scientists. but we don't do that and it isn't accepted because hacking is wrong.
