Hey guys it's me again. After we did the first LOTV edition a little bit early it's now time to have a proper power ranking. GSL and SSL concluded and proleague also played a lot of games already so it should be doable to determine the best 10 players of LOTV right now
What i want you to do:
Post your own power ranking in this thread, 10 players only, sorted by their current strength in LOTV. I will only count 'serious' lists, putting in Idra won't do it.
So how would it work?
It's pretty simple, just post your top 10 in this thread. I will go through every post and add the points up. The point distribution will be like that:
1. place = 10 points 2. place = 9 points 3. place = 8 points etc.
How much time do i have to post the list?
You will have ten days, which means i will count every list which is posted till May 13 (Time left to make a list: )
Feel free to discuss your rankings in this thread, if you have extra passion you also can write a short text for your favorite player and post it in here as well (it would be used for the final standings)
Reminder: You can change your list as often as you like, but i will only count the first list you posted in this thread (which means you should edit your post )

TY FIGHTINGGGGGGGGGG
I patiently await the Jin Air fan to come argue until both of your faces are blue
There's not really much to discuss imo, Maru simply hasn't shown enough games. PL alone isn't enough to claim "best of the world" titles. If only he was in one of the leagues...
Zest is best no?
Ofc. I won't even engage in a discussion about that.

1. Dark 2. Zest 3. Stats 4. TY 5. Maru 6. Dear 7. soO 8. Dream 9. herO 10. Rogue (players with more than 5 letters in their nicknames apparently suck )
As i said in the op, i won't count troll lists. While i think a little bit of fun is great i also think that the power ranking done by the community is a pretty neat concept and i don't want people to troll too much, it makes it harder for me and other people might simply jump on the bandwagon. Just saying.

Final lists in 10 days right? Plenty of time to troll .
4 to 7 are super close and could be in almost any order. I went with Trap for #10 but I think that spot is super ambiguous. Cross finals might shake it up a bit near the top.

how do you decide if a list is a troll list or not?
yes, time for me to finally back up my bias 1. Zest This is too obvious tbh
2. Maru he's good, he's very very good. I expect him to perform better next season. Also I thought his games vs Zest were closer than TY vs Zest
3. TY He's still very very good, especially in TvT. If he derps less often then he would have been above Maru (Zest still best)
4. Dark SSL Champion, very good, 'nuff said. Except for Zest, top 4 is pretty close imo.
5. Dear I thought that he was very good as well, but then Zest just rekt him so hard, I feel bad for him.
6. herO carrying CJ is not an easy task. He has kinda fall down a bit since his initial strong LotV start
7. Stats One of KT's 3 important pillars right now. Not quite as strong as TY or Zest but still definitely good enough to be in this list.
8. soO He's good, solid Zerg player on SKT, it seems like SKT is depending on him a lot these days
9. Cure Beaten Solar, soO AND herO to get to the Semi-Finals? He's very impressive for sure
10. ByuN I thought he would fade of after the early stages of LotV, but seems like I'm wrong. He's very good, qualified for both StarLeagues, he's worth the 10th spot here fr sure
1. Zest 2. Maru 3. Dark 4. TY 5. Stats 6. Dear 7. Cure 8. herO 9. soO 10. Solar
List becomes tough after the top 4. There's little to really go off of what with 2016 totally sucking for KR. Also, some might say Maru is too high what with posting no good starleague results and only having SPL. I give him the benefit of the doubt. Not only does he look more dominant than everyone except Zest, he has the history to back up that he's tried and true in bo3+ format. Also, Maru met his end at the hands of Zest in GSL and Soulkey/ByuL in SSL when the game was still being figured out. It's totally excusable.

how do you decide if a list is a troll list or not?
Most of the time it is quite obvious. Yours for example does include Idra At the end of the day you can do whatever you want, but clear trolling shouldn't be encouraged which is why i won't count lists which make zero sense (Idra doesn't even play) If you really want to include a lot of foreigners so be it i guess, i guess i won't count these lists as trolling even though it probably is most of the time
I don't think there needs to be much said. He is the most recent Starleague champion, and he won it in dominating fashion, plus his performances in SPL for his team have been incredible. You can almost always count on him to deliver a win.
While this is really close, I gave #1 to Zest simply because his championship is more recent. Maybe after the cross finals I will make a switch. Another point is that Zest has impressed in two matchups, while Dark seems to rely mostly on his ZvP (Just in the last month he lost to Dream, Maru Bomber, Solar and Losira). And he lost to Zest last time they met.
It's hard to argue with a 15-2 proleague record. And when he wins, he dominates.Maybe one could say that he hasn't done well in Indovidual leagues, but given that he was eliminated from the GSL by the champion himself, and from the SSL by Zergs, who were (as a race) beating everyone at the time, I think he deserves this.
Again, this is pretty hard to argue against. The GSL runner-up, he displayed amazing skills and tore through most of his opponents. The reason he is not #3 here is because he has a worse SPL record at 7-7, and he lost to all players listed above him.
If he loses, Samsung loses. As simple as that. It hasn't yet happened differently. Although sometimes even if he wins they still lose. His GSL run was amazing, he went undefeated in series until he met Zest in the semifinals, which is kind of unfortunate, like Maru earlier.
CJ is a one man team at the moment. It's called herO and the practice partners. He is literally carrying the whole team on his back. Let's hope ByuL can start performing better, or herO might crack. He did beat Dear twice in SPL, but Dear had a better individual league performance (not by much, but still)
Stats is weird. Even though he did great in SSL and is doing fine in SPL I always seem to kind of "not care" about him. I don't really know why. But he performed well enough to be here and to make me notice him. He is the SSL runner-up after all.
soO is, with Dark, the saving grace for SKT this round. while his individual league runs were not really what we expect of him (losing to Patience for example) he performs when it matters to his team, and is a rock for SKT. I hope he gets better results in starleagues next season.
Best TvZ in Korea atm? Probably. He beat soO and Solar like they were nothing. And then, murdered herO in a completely different matchup? Pretty damn impressive. Pitty he isn't fielded as much in Proleague. Could have been higher, I am sure.
1. Zest The most in-form PvT potentially ever, best PvP by a good amount, and although his PvZ looked very weak in KFC it's unknown whether that's just online weirdness or not. Still #1 by far.
2. Maru Looked very strong in TvT, beating TY. Hasn't struggled with any protosses except Zest. Crushed Dark, and has generally looked very good in TvZ. Despite not being to any starleagues, Maru's still my pick for #2.
3. TY TvT is very good but TvZ and TvP look sketchier. Overall less consistency than Maru, plus the head-to-head loss in TY's best matchup.
4. Dark SSL was such a weird event that it's hard to rate very highly, but his PL results since have been quite good with a couple exceptions. Disappointment in GSL stops him from being higher.
5. Dear Very strong GSL run, on-and-off in Proleague when it comes to form but still largely good. I think clearly the 2nd best protoss right now.
6. Stats SSL is a very weird event but Stats still showed up at it, plus his PL consistency.
7. Cure Amazing TvZ, plus decent TvP and TvT. Hard to rate, but he has less obvious flaws and more obvious strengths than I think people give him credit for.
8. soO Solid in GSL, solid in Proleague. Generally a mid-level player without many glaring flaws but without many big victories over huge players either.
9. herO I just feel as though herO's play has been particularly uninspired, especially against Cure. He's only really on here because of his PL performance (especially vs Dear) as his GSL was quite weak.
10. Ryung Holy shit Ryung's actually done really well in Proleague what the hell is it 2012 again
1. Zest - God mode. Top 2 PvP, figured out PvT, haven't seen much PvZ from him yet but it looks dangerous and wins when it counts.
2. Maru - still manhandling people with his trademark Maru skill. Awesome airmech TvZ style. Still innovating despite his dislike of building missile turrets.
3. TY - Demigod in the making, just keeps getting better and better. Starting to really bring confidence into his proleague matches.
4. Stats - underrated player, extremely consistent even when fielded regularly against the best players. Extremely well rounded, but lacks that star quality and killer instinct. PvP powerhouse.
5. Dear - Carrying Samsung, very clean and smart PvZ. Top 3 PvP. Really bringing that attention to detail that makes a champ back into his play.
6. herO - Carrying CJ, KSJ is his stomping grounds, starting to adapt his aggressive greedy style to LotV. PvP God. Still lacks confidence using the disruptor PvT.
7. INnoVation - TvZ machine, lacking the polish essential for his flawless macro style.
8. SoO - ZvZ machine, most reliable Zerg. Lacking that confidence and attacking flair at the moment, as shown in his PvZ vs. Zest on Lerilak where he could easily have won with a ling runby but wasn't paying attention. Needs some true attacking grit that can't be bought just by mixing a few sketchy all-ins into your play.
9. Dream - Still an amazing player who asn't quite found his LotV groove yet, particularly TvP, but we're seeing more of him. TvT beast.
10. ByuL - Strong zerg but inconsistent with moments of strength and weakness. Waiting for SK or KT to pick him up, imbue him with confidence and hone him into an unstoppable weapon.
Honorable mentions: Dark - overrated, stylistic ZvP sniper who's had a good run showing potential and moments of brilliance. Loses games he shouldn't TvZ and ZvZ, not a well rounded player. Championship is most definitely a one time thing until he truely breaks out.
Honestly if Soo absorbed Dark we might actually get a Zerg who could challenge for Top 3 in Life's absence.

I hella disagree with this btw. He's currently on a 7 season Code S streak (tied w/ Solar fur longest active streak) so the whole "fluke" tag loses traction w/ me there. A year ago after he dominated Maru a few times they said he was a ZvT sniper and that ZvP was his kryptonite so I think it's funny that he's called a ZvP sniper now. He finished second in two Kespa cups and 3rd at the IEM WC which seems to indicate he's capable of winning championships or at least contesting them besides this "one time thing".
Also if you look at aligulac he has winning records in all three matchups this year. By "loses games he shouldn't in ZvT and ZvZ" I guess you mean a couple of Bo1's in PL. He's lost to Maru (this shouldn't count against him btw), Bomber, and Reality in PL (I concede the losses to Reality/Bomber aren't great but they are Bo1's). He also lost to Dream in a Bo3 who is a monster in the matchup. That doesn't really scream bad ZvT to me tbh. In ZvZ he's only lost to Solar (Bo1 in PL and of course he beat Solar in a Bo7 in S2SL) and Losira (they traded series in GSL, Dark beating him 2-0 in the Ro32 and Losira beating him 2-1 in the Ro16). He's currently in the top 10 for wins in Proleague for the second straight year and he's been the most effective ace in PL this year (3-0). I could see not putting him top three for some reason but not top 10? Disrespect
1. Zest Obvious reasons. He's his own race in SC2 right now. 2. Maru Obvious reasons, sad for his slower start and bad luck in qualifications 3. Dark S2SL winner 4. TY He's good, like very good _____________ BIG GAP _____________ 5. Dear 6. herO 7. soO 8. Cure 9. Trap 10. sOs (I love him, you simply cannot have a list without sOs) 11. Jin Air Proxy Wings (well, since only first 10 positions are counted I can put on 11th a team, right? )

Did you just rate Ryung as the tenth best player in the world when he has a 3-4 (43%) in PL on the year and wasn't in either Starleague this season?
I am disappoint in you
Hey it's totally excusable he didn't make it into code S. He got matched up against DRGLing in Code A qualifiers. That's like Maru vs zest, no shame in losing there.

While I also disagree with putting Ryung in the top 10, this is a power rank for right now, and the Ryung of today is many times better than the Ryung of back then. He went 3-2 this round in PL, against soO, herO, sOs, BrAvO and Zest. If nothing else, he definitely is in good form right now.
This thread has a lot more weird placements people should make fun of.
1. Zest 2. Maru 3. TY 4. Dear 5. Stats 6. Dark 7. herO 8. soO 9. Cure 10.Trap
8, 9 and 10 are completely up in the air. I don't think there's enough recent data to properly rank from 7 onwards. Tempted to throw GumiHo or INno in there.
1. Zest 2. Dark 3. Maru 4. TY 5. Dear 6. Stats 7. herO 8. Cure 9. soO 10. Dream
So hard after Dear to rank them :/ Stats > Dear also possible depends how you look at it. Maru 3rd also questionable because we don't really get to see him other than bo1 but I believe he is very close there with top 4
1-4 Is pretty solid Imo Zest is leagues above terran players tho but Zest vs Dark could be interesting and I would see Dark taking it pretty solid.
7-10 was very hard to rank. herO hasn't been crushing the competition even looking pretty fragile at times same goes with Cure, but sometimes they show just incredible play. herO is carrying CJ pretty hard tho so props to him. Still believe in soO has fallen quite a bit from his prime still solid tho. Dream is so low but don't know where to put him :/
------------- God tier ------------- 1. Zest ------------- Tier 1 ------------- 2. Maru 3. Dark 4. TY ------------- Tier 2 ------------- 5. Dear 6. herO 7. Stats ------------- Tier 3 ------------- 8. Rogue 9. soO 10. Cure
Top 4 is pretty obvious. Zest is in god mode right now. Maru, Dark, TY probably will destroy anyone who is not Zest. Tier 2 includes crucial players of CJ, Samsung and 3rd KT pillar. All of them have really good PL and individual results. Tier 3 is hard to evalute but I'm gonna go with Rogue who is still performing really well and becoming ace caliber player, soO who is not playing a lot but has really good showings. 10th spot takes Cure for his really good run in GSL and monstrous TvZ. If he is gonna improve at such rate he might become THE 3rd Terran force in Korea. Honorable mentions: ByuN who is disappering and reappering all the time. Solar for great solo results but underwhelming PL form which even Stork started to notice and stopped fielding him Dream & Innovation for being solid SKT Terrans players who are still looking for their mojo back. Speaking of mojo - sOs who is in slump AGAIN but hopefully will regain his late-2015 form and will dismantle opponents brains as per usual
You can count Ryung as a protest vote if you want, because I don't really think any of the others deserve a top 10. Dream hasn't impressed me beyond his fairly good GSL Ro16, Trap seems very middle-of-the-road, Solar hasn't done much since failing out of both leagues, Classic's been off the radar for a while and has been pretty mixed since returning, sOs has failed to really stand out in my mind, Rogue's good games feel more gimmicky and less 'earned' than Ryung's good games, and INno's just pretty meh right now.
In the end you can argue for any of them off of results, but I've been very impressed by both Ryung vs soO and Ryung vs BrAvO- he's the funniest player in the in-my-eyes tie for 10, so he gets the points :p
I don't think Starleague qualifiers (and Ro32s, and debatably even Ro16s) have any affect on who's gonna win against who right now.
1. Dark SSL champ. I could be getting cute here, but not many slip ups for dark and I think he stands out as having the biggest influence in the meta game up to this point, with casters proclaiming that when zergs everywhere play protoss and go ling/bane, they are playing "dark-style".
2. Zest GSL champ. It's probably fair to forgive his Kung Fu Cup performance as hes looked nearly flawless outside of it, but a weakness vs z in his current condition is a reasonable suspicion. I'm separating zest and dark in the rankings by who I think would win in a bo7 if the two Starleague champs collided.
3. Maru Unofficial, undefeated champ of proleague round 2 so far. I may also be factoring in maru historically just being reallllly good.
4. Stats SSL runner up. Stats is solid everywhere and is fresh off a win against TY in the Kung Fu Cup.
5. TY GSL runner up, tvt beast.
6. Dear Honestly, I feel if he were on the other side of the GSL bracket then he would be ranked one spot higher.
7. Cure The top six to me have distinguished themselves and there are many contenders that could be shuffled around for the rest of the rankings.
8. SoO Solid overall and if a zvz standout exists, it would probably be soo.
9. Classic Favorite player bias. Getting more play and looking strong. Watch out folks, it's about that time for another starleague championship.

Putting Maru and Dark above both of them I can understand, but putting TY above Zest is just wrong lol

you can't put Maru on top of Zest either, he 3-0'd Maru out of GSL. Dark won SSL so only he can be on top of Zest, in which case head-to-head Zest is still favored against him in 2016 so Zest number 1, Dark 2, Maru 3, TY 4
