You would never form a sentence like "Idra has retired, and they will not be returning". You use "he", because it's specifically Idra. This applies even to the sentence "The player I am thinking of has retired, and they will not be returning". It's still a reference specific player, you would use "he" or "she" (or "he or she"). But in a sentence like "When a player retires, they might come back at some point", you would use "they". Here the reference is generic, since it's not a specific player you are talking about. It's impersonal, just like using the word "one", as in "One should not do X". It means something completely different than "He should not do X". Conclusion: It's must be a hint that it's vortix and lucifron

One does not equal two no matter how you want to twist the english language ![]()

He might just have omitted the information regarding the other. This is a logic puzzle, dammit. Actually, Kaelaris probably used "they" because HuK (incorrectly afaik) referred to the specific person in question as "they".

Europeans, learn this. the only people in this thread troubled with the use of "they" as gender-neutral pronoun refering to a single person have United States put as their country of residence so lol@you sucks that Vortix and Lucifron are leaving HotS but oh well, I hope TL can find good replacements
