lol. Nice accusation, I didn't said anything for Rain but this is so obvious even without insider info.
Here are a few propositions:
- Blizzard: region lock limits possibilities for korean players. - DH and IEM: they likely didn't want to have much SC2 in their events anymore, which was a big part of WCS changing. - Community in 2013: having strong voices arguing for a region lock likely had some influence in it being implemented. - North Korea: he has to do military service. - SKT1 contract: he could have played for other proleague teams if it wasn't for that. - SKT1: he could play for SKT1 again, except it appears there are frictions there. - Fantasy: he could have stayed in Kespa instead of going for the foreign tournaments. If you remember, the people who did what he did in 2013 were heavily criticized for taking the easy route (Pigbaby, Check2, people on TB's team, and so on). - LotV: he doesn't seem to enjoy tankivacs, which are pretty important in this game. - Results: he hasn't been very successful in SC2.
Out of all factors that may or may not have led to his retirement, does it surprise you that you focused on the one thing you were already critical against?
i remember your game where it came down to 1 banshee w/ cloak and a couple ingame seconds left before being out of energy, exposed, and slaughtered by a huge broodlord corruptor army. but it was enough for you to win and watching you sit in the booth gave a lot of us a sense of confidence in ourselves.

I fail to see how this has anything to do with WCS 2016. MMA could still play in Europe and Flash and Rain had already made up their minds.
There's still plenty of tournaments in Korea with Kespa Cup, SSL, GSL and Proleague.
Fantasy being unable to play in Proleague has nothing to do with Blizzard, rather he himself screwed up. It is not Blizzards job to tailor a tournament circuit to the needs of a few players who chose to breach a contract with a Korean team.
Gahh, this hurts. Was a huge fan of the 2014 SKT-exile group. Rain and Fanta are gone now, Parting and Soulkey are left but who knows how long they'll stay with the new WCS rules?
I mean, these players have to retire and move on at some point. We like to blame the WCS system, but chances are they'd be retiring soon anyway and the combination of a brand new game to grind and horrible WCS rules probably made the decision easy for them (not to disregard the other factors in Rain's decision).
Still sad, but let's be happy for what they accomplished and glad that they stayed with us as long as they did. All good things come to an end, and we were blessed with some pretty sweet times from these titans.

The biggest problem is that the last replacement was solar. Korea's bleeding heavily but it didn't concern at all the people designing wcs. The only healthy region looks to be Europe with some strong national scenes

Rain, Parting, Fantasy and Soulkey all 'broke their contracts' and left SKT too early which means they're banned from Proleague. At the time I think I read that there was some friction in the team between staff and the banned players which is why they decided to break their contracts.
Yes, they can only play for SKT, but apparently some shit went down which is why they left and why they are being punished for it, so I really doubt SKT would take them back. Did that article ever get translated? Would be really interested to read about the friction between oov and Rain/Parting/Fanta/Soulkey.
Fantasy, you were my favorite player and I rooted for you. I started rooting for SKT because of the creativity you brought in your very first osl run. I really cheered for you all the way through, down to this last blizzcon (just being at blizzcon shows you did succeed in sc2 and should be proud). Of course, I believe you were the best player at the end of bw (no one would even question this if jangbi didn't grab those osls :/)
