Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Maybe it is because LOTV just came out and they don't want to have a world final with Hots champions, still it is kind of sad. I hope they will be a season next year at least.

Edit : Ouff, never mind all seem good

The IEM World Championship finals usually attract over 100K viewers for the final match... What a bummer...

the announcement was yesterday evening : http://en.intelextrememasters.com/news/intel-extreme-masters-to-return-to-katowice-for-the-world-championship/

they announced CS & LOL but no SC2

but, according to Carmac & some other sources, there still might/will be SC2 at Katowice

The last time I read such a news, DreamHack demoted SC2 to a Side-event. Let's hope that's not the case here.
Since Carmac tweeted that no bad news is incoming, I'd just assume that the SC2 tournament will not be a WC-tournament, but rather a tournament with the best LotV players at the time. Which would make sense, imo.
... I just hope it's not gonna be an Archon tournament :/

Yes, but only for the grand finals. Reason for that is that they do the grand finals for all games sequentially and update the twitch channels for each game to follow the next game's grand final. Zest vs Trap final came after CS:GO finals, so we had 100K+ viewers for it. Though it was a PvP...

There were a bunch of people waiting for the LoL (?) finals that were scheduled to be around that time but the CS:GO finals took forever so the whole schedule got messed up. So then LoL people were watching Zest vs Trap.

My guess is because all the champions in Season X are from HotS while the Katowice event will definitely be playing on LotV, similar reason DH didn't have a grand final event at DH Winter because they know the game will be on LotV at that time.

Same thing happened in 2014 Grand finals, sOs vs herO, it gathered around 100K views during the blink all in era when both decimated Polt and Taeja.

Maybe Chill has indeed been secretly training LoTV, but it still seems rather unlikely for him to win the IEM WC

I don't plan on going anywhere, I'll still be following everything and making sarcastic comments everywhere. I just won't be as involved in managing any SC2 tournaments in the future.

For replays, Jin (my noble successor) is extremely proactive and efficient. I'll just need to teach him the methods for uploading/releasing and I'm sure he'll be up to the task as and when he needs to be. Have no fear!

I've seen CS:GO tournament streams hit 700,000 viewers. That's more than five times as much as SC2 during its peak two or three years ago. Granted, it is fun to watch!

the last two IEM WCs still got 150k viewer for sc2 but I doubt that a lotv tournament will get this much viewer so I'd understand their decision.

Same thing happened in 2014 Grand finals, sOs vs herO, it gathered around 100K views during the blink all in era when both decimated Polt and Taeja.

Decimated? I thought Polt put up a good fight
