Even during times of homogeneous metas (hellbat TvT), Mvp more than held his own, despite having a broken back, against the best of Kespa (vs INnoVation at his peak, notably). Not even close to true. Mvp was on his last Length of total career is irrelevant. Length of domination is. Take for example, Jordan (15 seasons) vs Kobe (20 and counting). Life has never dominated for long periods. He has always gone (insanely) hot and (stupidly) cold. You can't be the GOAT if you never truly dominate. Mvp is the GOAT. Anyone who argues otherwise is a fool. Regarding MVP's injuries, I don't think anyone really knows how much it affected him. It's not like we have access to his practice logs for each month and we can see a dip in ladder rank/hours invested in practice. All we see are the results. I believe his injuries were serious, but we can't be sure his dip in results wasn't also caused by his participation in WCS EU and the subsequent amount of time spent traveling (or even the disbandment of his team). The article on MVP for Greatest Players of All Time is a great piece of Sc2 history. What I don't agree with is the notion that he was on his way out because his macro mechanics had nearly completely deteriorated. How would this even be checked? You would need to have access to the replays from those games and check for cc/rax/fac/star production. If his macro was so poor, why take it to a split map mass battle cruiser situation vs Squirtle? One thing is for sure, in SC2 there aren't many players who made it far in the GSL by accident. From the qualifiers, through code a, it's a monstrous road with pitfalls everywhere. So while MVP might not have been at his strongest, Life's victory over him still counts for something in my eyes. In terms of Length of domination, Life and MVP for the most part played in different eras. I believe today there are actually way more talented players so it's harder to stay dominate for as long. At the end of the day, I concede that with 5 Korean titles over Life's 4 I would still give the GOAT title to MVP, but not for long. All those kind of discussions will be far more interesting when some dust will have settle down on LotV. Having a GOAT is what makes sports interesting. SC2 has a very short life span compared to traditional sports. Nobody knows how long LOTV will last. Even if all goes well and it lasts another 5 years, surely the expansion will come along and people will move to that. So then, if you compare SC2 to basketball (a sport which people started playing professionally around 1900), you can be for damn sure they had a GOAT by 1950. We don't need to decide on 1 player forever. The GOAT can change over time.

Yes and no, in the doc rise of the king you can see how severe his issues were. http://watch.stateofplaydoc.com/
