Life vs aLive, I always wanted to see more of that. Zest vs San is basically "Thanks for coming San, try again next year". Maru somehow always gets Protoss players. ByuL vs Shine is ludicrous. sOs vs Solar is Solar's best chance to get into the tournament. TY vs Trap is pretty hype, as are Rogue vs Heart and Dear vs soO.
And like every season, Global Seeds get outrageous opponents.

It's just ridiculous, how from every possible opponent, sOs was able to get his worst kryptonite. And soO couldn't get other Protoss either, holy shit.
Anyway. Journey/soO/Maru/Rogue/Shine/sOs/Zest/HyuN/Trap/Bogus/Rain/aLive. 7P5T4Z SSL.

The Global Seeds always get really difficult opponents and they always have some weird dream scenario matches in there too (e.g. INno vs ByuL or Flash vs Life in previous Challengers).

Solar is actually quite weak at the moment (in terms of momentum). Sure his one win in proleague did come from sOs himself, but it was against a botched immortal all-in that lacked the flare and decisiveness of PartinG.
In the Bo.5 scenario, taking in recent match form, I don't actually see Solar having the upper hand.
oh, and Rip Toodming and Sora. Not Snute, because he knows roach-bane well enough to not get slaughtered 3 zip.

RIP seeds sucks for Sora too
pretty decent matchup for HyuN, he might advance

At any other time in Innovation's career, I'd probably have said Snute was absolutely screwed, but Innovation is looking way weaker than before. Of course, he's still way favored here, but it could be a lot worse for Snute.

Early game and early-midgame can be a bit of a vulnerable time for him against Zerg, and Snute, while known more for passive macro play, is certainly not loathe to mix things up. Furthermore, I think they're even in the very lategame, especially considering Zerg's slight advantage in the matchup at that stage of the game.

The battle of slumps.
Snute gonna take a plane trip to Korea and a bus trip in SSL studio!

The Chinese players had the worst luck: Jim vs Maru, MacSed vs Parting, TooDming vs Rain, all GSL/SSL champion caliber players

rip Innovation, not even gonna qualify for SSL

3 Jinair guys are playing just before the final no? Whilst only soO is playing before the final.

Just further confirmation that SKT is the best team in Korea atm

INnoVation vs snute will be the biggest stomp of the year

Does this mean that Snute's forfeiting his spot in WCS S3 challenger ?
|
Rain Finally advances to the SSL Main event LOL also RIP Sora, INnoVation, Solar, Heart, Journey, Dear, HyuN, TY, Life, Shine, San, aLive

does it say anything about the mappool?

WCS is, in terms of schedule, a tad bit slower than SSL, or in fact both Starleagues in Korea. Unless Snute goes full foreigner domination mode and makes it to the finals and wins, he'll have plenty of time for his challenger match.

Nah it's hard to argue for anyone but SKT when they've gone undefeated in PL (with two players undefeated as well) and have a two time consecutive SSL finalist as well as rhe reigning champion

The mayor of slump city title is at stake.
More seriously, I believe Snute can do it !

Well, if only SKT can translate those individual league results onto proleague playoffs...

I thought it's kinda logical actually for global seeds to face legit opponents and not get dream scenarios.

damn going to be out of town for the first week

Damn, Dear vs soO...Hoping for Dear to take it like that GSL back in 2013 and also Heart vs Rogue could be interesting considering Heart beat Curious to get there.
|
To see the positive side of things, at least Snute is facing slumping INno and not peaking INno. Even with that, it's going to be very hard ; but I believe Snute can do it. So GOGO SNUTE~~
|
Does anyone know if Toodming is even in Korea or if he's just traveling from china for his match? Because at least for Snute he'll be in Korea for 3-4 days before his SSL match (due to HSC) which doesn't bode well. I miss the times where there were foreigners a plenty living in Korea to get seeds to things

Don't worry Solar is like the worst player in korea right now

man if snute somehow beats inno (tough task because those SKT boys have crazy TvZ) i wonder what will happen to gumba. maybe inno becomes the absolute ruler of slump world.
|
|
Wow, this is pretty unfortunate for our foreign hopes. They play Innovation and Rain... :/
Good luck Snute!
Toodming i don't particularly care for.

i don't think snute will win and i don't think innovation will stomp him, i think it will be a very very boring and standard zvt where innovation slowly pushes until he wins
|
FUCK Dear vs soo
Also rip global seed.
|
RIP Sora and TooDming. Snute has a good chance to advance if INnoVation isn't in top form, which he hasn't been playing at his highest caliber as of late. TY vs. Trap will be interesting to see because they're both players on their respective teams that can come out in Proleague and have specific snipe builds prepared, as either a regular or an ace player.
MyuNgSiK, soO, Maru, Rogue, ByuL, Solar, Zest, Dark, TY, Snute, Rain, and aLive to advance.
|
i have faith in snute and so you should
|
Huge step forward for Snute, keep your chin up man and dont get intimidated at all by Inno, you GOT this!

well, the Season 2 RO8 dropouts and the players who qualified in 1st place play vs players who qualified in 2nd place. the PL top player, the wild card player and the global seeds play vs players who qualified in 1st place. as the number of PL invites and global seeds varied over the seasons theres no pattern like group a 1st place plays group b 2nd place from the qualifier or something like that. So regarding this sorcery is not completely off the table but its not overall random
|
The challenger format of 1v1, all or nothing, is stone trash.
|
I just hope Snute finally shows a ZvT style that isn't a self-handicap - he can't exactly afford it against Innovation.

Toodming vs Rain... I don't think I'll watch SSL that day
|
Dear vs. soO is a match I'm looking forward to (and secretly dreading cuz don't want either one to lose :/)
July 10th: WTF
Actually Rain vs. Toodming WTF
EDIT: MacSed said during his stream today that Chinese clubs were cancelling player trips to Korea because of the MERS outbreak. iG has cancelled travelling plans, and from what he knows, Zenith of Origin has done the same. So Toodming is probably gonna forfeit.
|
Oh god Sora you unlucky boy... I ll cheer for you anyways!
|
I wouldn't count on Innovation's slump, the fact he's playing a foreigner should give him plenty of motivation. Snute needs to play on code S level to advance
|
What if Innovation had some recent games of Snute to study? Like 60 zvts versus the best foreign terran? That would probably be neat to study
