That's the commonly accepted answer, but afaik even if he had broke his contract, StarTale isn't a KeSPA team and thus the rule wouldn't have applied?

Life's rights were transferred from ST to KT, "legally", probably for a good chunk of money. Parting left SKT and joined another team who then joined proleague. If Yoe played a transfer fee to SKT I'm sure they could buy his rights and he could play for them.

I was under the impression his contract with StarTale simply expired and that he moved on to signing a contract with KT, no strings attached.

+ Show Spoiler + I was so sure that this game would be how Maru overcame his deficit, because at my diamond level, I would have been broken if I had to try to break Maru's 4th with all his pre split bio. It's great to see some BL action

If so I am guessing StarTale doesn't last beyond this season of SPL. Curious, aLive, Hack, Pet and Daisy is just not a team that's going to attract any big sponsors. More importantly it looks like they lost FileKuki, which was their primary sponsor?

Since both of them are no longer part of the team, I don't think RB sees the point of sponsoring a team without their original clients
