+ Show Spoiler + 3.
"Before the Starcraft 2 competition officially began, Slam annnounced that he would forfeit his position in the tournament (because in about 12 days he must enlist in his mandatory military service), and with that comes an adjustment to the tournament system. The first two players will be Vanilla (yoeFW) and Cheetos (Spider). Vanilla is a fully experienced Taiwanese Terran competitor capable of winning and winning and winning. Could he be thing thing of legends like what they say about the legends of the NBA? And on the other end of the bracket we will watch Fist play against his brother in arms Rex. But who of the two are stronger and can pull out the win?"
In Taiwan mandatory military service is also a part of life for all men of age, and each soldier is required to commit at least ten months of time to military service. If I'm not mistaken, Slam has just finished his university studies and this will help him get a good start on life.
As for his pro gaming career, I'm not too sure what his next step will be. Slam was a part of the original Gamma Bears, and remained the understudy to Sen for a long long time.

I dunno, but paying you for your efforts is the least the military could do since the service is mandatory...

They do get salaries and bonuses, plus home leave for two or three days once in a while.

It's not slavery ... This haha. Basically you are taking young men away from their regular day job, you can't just not pay them. What if they have a family to take care of?

Sounds like he's got options available after he leaves the military if he doesn't come back to SC2, which is good.
