As one of the most established players in professional Starcraft, Rain joins us after leaving SK Telecom T1 with the desire of attending more Western events. Rain’s personal trophy cabinet already boasts an OSL and a GSL trophy, and he plans to add more to it in 2015. Following the recent WCS changes, Rain will continue to reside in Korea, and will not be attempting to qualify for the WCS Premier League, but rest assured, you’ll be in for plenty of awesome games from our new Protoss in the IEM and Dreamhack circuits next year, as well as the Korean leagues!
If you want to learn more about Rain and read what our players have to say about their new mate check out the News on our Homepage!
Thanks alot for all the support we get from the Starcraft 2 community! Please make sure to check out our sponsors Logitech G, Bison Group, World of cd keys and Esports Clothing who are making everything we do possible!

Wow, big pickup. Congrats!

Wonder how much this will cost them. Rain probably had several suitors for a foreign team.

I think Zest pretty much has that title locked up right now. Rain is high in the running for second or third though.

Did not see that coming. Gratz!

I can honestly say I didn't see this coming. mYinsanity is becoming a true force within the scene.

Damn, nice pickup mYi. Good luck to Rain and mYi :D

Not Liquid Rain? The dream is dead.
|
wait, Rain won't be doing WCS 2015???
|
Huge news! Yay Rain!
This is really cool. mYi seems like such a good team.
|
|
Wait so he's not going to be playing in Code S? Just playing in IEM and DH?

He won't be doing the combined WCS EU/NA tournament (called in 2015 WCS Premier) which is another way of saying that he will still be competing in Korean tournaments.
Check up with the announced WCS 2015 changes for more information.

mYinsanity now, has to team up with some ProLeague team and then a I take this as a good thing...

See my post on page 1.
WCS Premier in 2015 = WCS EU/NA. WCS Korea is being split into two separate tournaments, GSL and KESPA Cup.

I think that means he'll play in Korean leagues and won't attempt to obtain a european visa in order to play in WCS Eu/NA
|
Gratz mYi
Hoep the best for Rain
|
|
Good job by mYi, they will be the real deal in teamleagues. Looking forward to see more of Rain in foreign tournaments too.

so mYi the best foreign team now or what
|

Sick pick up, mYi definitely EU's strongest team right now. Can't wait to see him attend more foreign tournaments :D

That would be GSL and SpotTV Starleague. KeSPA Cup is seperate.

Not sure if any Korean other than Polt and Violet can play the foreign WCS.

What are you doing Rain, leaving the best team for this one?

Not sure either. Restrictions are pretty strict. But with the two leagues I'm pretty confident this will turn out OK for the Korean scene.

With such players like Sacrsi/Jjakji/Stardust/Rain they can compete in ProLeague. I suggest them to do an alliance with MVP or Prime their rosters are pitiful compare to theirs.

mYi's lineup is actually very solid now. Sacsri, jjakji, Stardust and Rain as ace ? I send that to Proleague without any hesitation.

I thought it wasn't going to Rain in Swiss? Good news though, and glad to hear that mYi still wants Korean players despite the WCS changes. Since he will stay in Korea I wonder if he will play PL as a mercenary too

Hm I don't think you can say that because of a single PvP that Rain won 2-1. I think they are both great and when they play form and luck will be the deciding factor.

To be honest Rain was usually better at Proleague, but recently Zest was better at almost everything. They're both good, who is better really depends on their shape as you said.

Nice. I was really hoping Liquid would have picked him up. He seems like he would have been a good fit. Liquid needs a new star player now that Taeja will be retiring soon. Maybe Soulkey is an option. He seems to be a good nature and a skilled player as well.

And if the other mYi Koreans can't play in WCS (which is likely), they'll have to play in Korea, shich probably means living in Korea too. That leads me to think mYi could partner up with a team like Prime/MVP, which could use players like Rain, Sacsri, jjakji and Stardust in their roster (and come on, SD-Flash in PL again plz)

I am so glad Rain found a team. For me it would be strange for liquid to pick up rain, drg or soulkey. In the past the seem to have picked up lesser know players with great potential. I can see them picking up players like journey or patience though.

Let's not pretend us TL regulars really know anything about e-sports economics though... I have a hard enough time wrapping my head around my personal money matters : /

Jjakji,Sacsri,StarDust,Ballon and now Rain.Wow u can compete in Proleague with that lineup :D

SKT will never be the same without him. Good with mYinsanity Rain!

Okey, im just only one that sees this weird. Company that isn't anyway related to esport is giving lot of money. And I know that sponsors doesn't always want visibility for their money but sometimes only to help keep up things they(owner/owners) like.
But that doesnt change fact that it is weird

mYi has quietly amassed a VERY strong team

In the case of mYi, I think you're looking for weird where there is none. Unlike teams like Eclypsia and Team whatever-the-fuck mYi has a good track record of stability and no history of controversy or drama. They didn't pick up Rain when they were the new kids on the block, they went with the small-time players that were allowed to grow on their roster. This sets them apart from a team like Invasion eSports that just happen to pick up players with no information available anywhere. Naturally, a healthy dose of scepticism is good but since we don't know anything about the state of mYi or their sponsors I think you should be asking them, not TL

You know very well, especially with the way mirrors work, that A beats B does not necessarily mean that A is a more solid player than B overall.

Classic is most definitely underrated. I'm glad he put up a great fight at Blizzcon because it's true his GSL victory at the pinnacle of Protoss domination followed by a swift elimination at the hands of Shine and EffOrt didn't serve his cause !

That's true - unless Acer picks up some new talent or MMA can retain his form from this weekend AND we see the Zergs step up, it will be exceedingly difficult for Acer to defend that title.

Oh dear - ATC is so critical for the scene. Because it is the only premier teamleague outside of Korea, I feel that it is just so important.
Teamleagues help teams maintain cohesion and exposure, and allows new players an easier opportunity to gain exposure.
Think of some of the most accomplished players in SC2 - MMA, DRG, Taeja, Life. All of these players really started off as teamleague stars before becoming champions.

But these are Korean players you are talking about and it is the Korean scene you are referring to. Sadly, teamleagues play a very minor role in the western scene. I mean, just look at how much ATC had to distort its schedule to play all the games. :-/

I'd still argue that ATC helps "foreign" teams, even if these teams are comprised of Koreans. It allows foreign teams a chance to gain exposure on a weekly basis. Plus we have seen some foreign players do well in the ATC. Dayshi has excelled in both ATC 2 and 3, and I think his performance here has been the biggest contributing factor to his fame. Bunny and Snute also have benefited IMO from playing in the league.

Stats and herO are kind of close, only reason I would rate Stats above him is because herO tends to choke often. And yes of course Rain, come on.. it's freakin' Rain.
Edit: I'm still hyped about Stats since his GSL run, if he didn't ran into pre-finals soOjwa, who knows.

I'd sneak sOs in #3 but otherwise I'd agree. Haven't seen Parting in a long time so I can't comment on his condition.

No apparently he's sticking around for another year.

I'll miss Rain in Proleague. Hope he enjoys playing for Myi

mYi continue their slow domination of foreign Starcraft. Basically the new EG.
Wish Acer had nabbed him though. They could use a strong Protoss. :/

Luck is a part of Protoss's strength :^)
I think Scarlett and another Acer Zerg would approve of this comment.

I think Zest pretty much has that title locked up right now. Rain is high in the running for second or third though. Zest, herO and maybe Classic are probably the best. Rain is great also, but I would need to see him against those three before I decide he is "one of the best protoss".
Rain is a great pickup though.
Good luck to both parties!

I love on the MYi annoucnment page interview... what are your goals? With a different environment, its about time i won code s and the foreign tournaments, as well as wcs global finals. i love it.. just win it all. i mean seriously win it all.
|
i talked to pengwin last hearthstone cup at taketv and he was like a bit drunk saying "oh we will get a new player" etc stuff and i thought well maybe a good one ... a GOOD ONE ? ... oh my god ... what a ... omg epic
but what you mean with not attempting qualifiy for wcs ? not wcs eu/us or all ? isnt there a korean wcs/gsl ?
|
this is just unfair.. liquid`Rain sounds much better. mYi will play now with cheats in all their cups. Also all tournaments will be won by them. Does this mean that Rain will play WCS EU?
Still, really nice pickup for them, also happy that Rain can fulfill his dream in playing a foreign team. With their current korean roster.. jjakji who never really confirmed, he came to EU from RO8 GSL as a big contender for WCS EU, but so far he failed. Stardust is an opportunist from my point of view, he is a good player but would never rate him as one of the best from the world. Rain on the other hand.. even if he has no big results this year, is a superstar, one of the most solid player out there, definitely top5 protoss in the world. (I would still put Zest, herO maybe also Classic in front of him).
I also expect a big explosion from mYi academy.. or B team. They have a lot of really young and really talented players. I want to see them evolve and win. Basically, that is the part where I started to respected them and rate them as one of the best up and coming team, probably the only big foreign team who invest in young talents.

Acer definitely needs a new players after Innovation left.

Well first gratz for this pickup, but
"ATC/Teamleagues are critical for western scene?,????"
I though nobody except koreans actually give a **** since there is like one team league? and few teams. More eu/na players getting teamless and rather participate in solo leagues in my opinion. Since I like ATC majority of players were Koreans anyway. Since I checked something yesterday the cheaper way for ATC would be to host it in korea and TL Team could fly there ! Sadly.. nothing is really relevant for EU/NA scene since they gonna have "separate scene" in 2015. BUT... there will be finals and since best place to practice is Korea the finals will be just a simple disaster and dissapointment of showing how low (except few CHOSEN PPL) can compete against koreans and actually win

First i hoped they would get Parting. Then i hoped they would get Rain sad fan
mYi might be the strongest foreigner team. In fact, on paper, i would say that they ARE the strongest for now (maybe followed by Yoe Flash, then Liquid and Acer)

So sad that the combo Parting Liquid and Liquid Rain didn't come up On the other side - happy for mYi, insane pick, well played, mYi, well played! GL to both, the team and the player!

was hoping for liquid rain but this is not bad, congrats to both parties!
really hope to see mYi partner up with a kespa team for proleague now too

Damn it! I hoped TL would sign him

Lol at all this Rain overrating. I know he's good, but just cuz MYI picked him up doesn't mean they're winning everything. Remember Mouz.Dear or what joining foreign teams did to INnovation? Yeah.

Will Rain be streaming now he's got picked up?
Scary high level of play, it's great to get to see the S class Koreans play, some of the styles and games they show away from the stage are incredible

Taeja's good, but with Hero slumping these really no depth

Btw, plz someone pick up Soulkey. So saddening to see him without a team.

Myi will gain from this pick hugely!!~~ Stardust and Rain working together = insane PvP strength,,,Jjakji will learn a snap load too..
|
Insanity indeed. Rain is going to crush nerds all over the place.

OH MY GOD. This is a sick pickup as well. Glad that he continues to do KR
