My Progamer life has been finished after today match against YoDa. was kinda pathetic perform. i'm so sorry about it if your eyes has been broken but i don't have any regret and i'm so happy about i ran incredible period after i arrived Germany. it was pleasure to do progaming again after retire in last november.
also i would like to sorry you again that i made you confusing with retirement in 2013 nov. i heard i could join military in beginning of this year. so i retired, but it was incorrect and my join military date is correctly december 9. so i back to progamer. but sadly its real time to farewell to you guys. i ABSOLUTELY join military in Dec9. if South Korea and North Korea unification before it. (lol, kidding)
when i arrived Germany, i didn't expected that i hit 2times Ro4 in WCS and Runner-up in ESET Masters. but i did it and hit my best-time of my progaming life as well i did i thought i ever could. unfortunately didn't get any wins in 2014 but i think its enough for me (person's greed is infinity right? so its kinda how to get happiness :D)
as i said in last interview after WCS match, i would back to in eSports scene after finish military (2016-09-08) not as player, my currently dream is make my own big eSports festival like Dreamhack, IEM and others. (thats why i hosted tournaments in beginning of this year, first step! :D) so i would back to eSports and planning studying abroad in Germany. (interesting with hosting tournaments, and casting)
i was really happy to living in Germany, USA and i learned a lot from here. i was a guy who only know gaming without planning future, but i changed here to a guy who can see future. so i never regret to decided to play in outside of Korea! i was really happy to meet you guys and i was really honor to show my plays to you guys. thanks for like my games, and cheered for me i was almost cry when i got standing ovation even i lost YoDa 0-3 with bad perform. and got many good words, cheering during gaming life. i'm gonna keep it in my heart, and never forget love you guys ♥
its so embarrassing to say retire again, someone won't believe it. so i won't say retire again. i would like to say it's break from sc2 cause of military. who knows future?

Best of luck Golden! You really started to shine in the foreign scene but I remember you from a long time ago, as far back as GSL 2010 Open Season 3. And I remember you in the GSTL 2013 "Red vs. Blue" all-star game holding Seed's 2-base mothership/skytoss all-in.
My favorite Golden game though was just recent was his game on Overgrowth against Welmu in this last season RO16. Golden got far behind early but came back with amazing lategame play. If you haven't watched it you should, it's the first game at this link:

Thank you for giving us such exciting games. I remember the tournaments you put on and cast on stream and how fun your stream was along with epic successes in the pro scene when you won redbull. It's sad to see you go Golden, you were one of my favorite players, and I hope the future is great for you when you return to esports.

I was so pissed when you beat MMA down to the loser's match - and then I actually got to speak to you (you might remember the guy from the train station? when you were going back to Düsseldorf after WCS Group C). You're one hell of a fun guy and I absolutely regret not having watched more of your games and interviews and ..well. I hope your military service turns out to be as good as it can ever be and that you can return to esports and that all of your dreams will be fulfilled. Thanks for the fun!

Hi Golden, (Rifkin posting) back when you retired the first time I really didn't know you much as a player, you were a stranger to me. I didn't really know or care about you, but I'm really glad you came back because you easily became one of my favourite zergs to work with after you popped up in EU House. Whether it was playing in our showmatches, Go4Sc2's or just any other event, any time I saw Golden on the bracket I would know there would be some good games! (special shout out to the first time I saw you play vs Yoda in the WCS qualifiers - crazy how you had to play him again at the end of your WCS run!)
Even before that, with things like your APM League I remember laughing my ass off at the sound effects and animations. Your English has improved so much since then haha
It is really sad to see you leave, but I'm happy I got the chance to know you & about you before you did. I wish you the best of luck in your future, no matter what you choose to do when you get out of military (JUST NOT LEAGUE OF LEGENDS* <3 ahaha ), and I know many fans of BaseTradeTV feel the same way.

I still remember reading the letter you wrote to SlayerS, and noticing you as a player when you played for team LighT. Back then, few people would have suspected that you would manage to qualify for WCS... and then you made top4 twice, just to be sure. There are so much memories I have. Beginning with your time at Startale and the Red Bull Tournaments, where you got 1st place and dont forget the 40/40 LOL :D (thats where I actually Heart the First time about you). It was also the nice duo (you and ST_Sound) which I extremely liked. You both work well together. It was so sad, when Sound retired, I think 1 year ago, and now you have to go as well Are you gonna be at the same military service department where Sound actually is?
But like you said "Who knows future?" right... I also wanna admit that sick move you did with the 4-person tournament to support HyuN, the "Help HyuN Tournament". It just shows what a nice guy you are Golden! Thank you very much for all you've done. You'll be remembered here, for sure!
Golden was the first (and one of the only two) starcraft pro I faced in a 1v1. I just wanted to say, sorry for 7 pooling. I was scared of your amazing skill. :D
Also, I was very impressed that you went hatchery first and managed to lose no workers to my 7 pool.

First, I saw SlayerS.Golden play--a Zerg! I watched as he became Golden.LighT--and later, Quantic.Golden.
But, more important to me, was meeting Jo Myeong-hwan. I was able to spend a few months in the Quantic house, where there was only one Zerg progamer--Golden himself. I had the priviledge to sit next to him, to watch him play, and to play with his keyboard next to mine every day... I learned what it meant to be a pro gamer, and the challenges he had to overcome.
The Golden that has come to be known in the international community following his success in WCS Europe this year is the same Golden that attended MLGs, IEMs, that has been training hard for years to make these results--I couldn't be happier to see him not only succeed, but be appreciated in the community.
While for some, his interview prior to winning the Redbull Training Grounds is the strongest memory (40/40!) they associate with him, I hope that sparked an interest in the player, and person, who was given the spotlight and had been FIGHTING in years prior and years proceeding.
While you never had huge success (until now), you were always on my radar. The letter to SlayerS is one of the nicest things to ever happen in SC2 imo. The tournament for Hyun was great as well.

Sure, taking a break from a game due to compulsory military service is not the same as losing passion and interest. But regardless, I think a lot of other pro-gamers should try to 'retire' with the same spirit as Golden had - humour, humility and hope. Most foreigner retirements just seem so abrupt, depressing and feels like a one-night-stand partner slipping out of the room before you wake up.
Doesn't matter if you've given up the game for good or temporarily. Doesn't matter if you were a top or moderate player. Say goodbye with a tear, say goodbye with a cheer.
