MLG failed imitating the GSL 2 years ago and will now fail again trying to immitate WCS America.
What?
MLG typically did very well with the SC2 events and I personally loved the Arenas as well. What hurt them was Blizzard pushing WCS which didn't work as a business model for MLG and failed for the NASL guys too and is now on its third company.
Its a tournament with good players on a weekend. Its definitely not the most interesting field, but a lot of that has to do with a lack of quality players to invite rather than a lack on the tournaments part. Its not like there are a ton of non Koreans that actually are as good as the Koreans now days. The days of Idra, Huk, Naniwa, or Stephano are gone, but Snute and Scarlett are doing alright.

Leenock in an open MLG bracket? Well I guess that is that then.

Binski, Ostojiy, KawaiiRice and Tilea are also in the open bracket.
Hendralisk and Ostojiy will play in CSL finals on Saturday as well.
