The Korean National Assembly has passed new ethics rules forbidding assembly members from holding positions in sports organizations. Among the 24 MP's who were informed they could not continue their positions was Mr. Jeon Byeong-Heon, the current chairman of KeSPA.
Mr. Jeon has enjoyed popular support during his reign, improving the image of KeSPA in the eyes of many Korean esports fans.
The National Assembly will be accepting appeals from the MPs who received the notices, and according to Yonhap, many are expected to protest.
Will it be likely that the current chair continue to play a large role in Kespa, even if he no longer holds a formal position? Who would a likely successor be?
Hopefully he'll be able to choose a worthy successor in the event he does end up needing to step down. I think KeSPA has been doing a good job recently given its circumstances.

Did you actually read the OP? I'm sure they can find a capable full-time candidate who doesn't have a conflict of interest. The decision's got nothing to do with gaming and affects as many as 24 different sports. You might as well say they're downgrading badminton or baseball hugely if their figureheads happen to be in government office.

ALL MPs with ANY position in ANY sport will be asked to step down from that sports position. Doesn't matter if it's Kespa, Football, Basketball or competitive horse fighting.
It sucks but won't be a big deal, I'm pretty sure he can still influence KeSPA without being chairman. It's not like he was forced down due to scandal or criminal charges or something. Common structure change is common.

Why do you think our logo`s a horsehead? Sadly most horsefighting elitists left after the BW scrubs flooded the place.
I support this regulation. Without it, we would never learn of the spectacular world of cometitive horse fighting (and that's about how much I care about it otherwise).
