Battle Grounds returns with three big StarCraft events in Detroit, Atlanta and Washington D.C. Battle Grounds is back and better than ever.
Red Bull eSports is launching a full tour of professional StarCraft II events that will hit three different historic cities. The tour begins with Red Bull Battle Grounds events in Atlanta and Detroit, followed by the Battle Grounds Grand Finals at our nation’s capital Washington D.C. from September 20th – 21st.
WCS Points
This year, Battle Grounds packs even more punch because it’s linked to Blizzard's WCS, meaning that competitors at Red Bull Battle Grounds 2014 events will battle not only for prestige and prize money, but WCS points used to determine who will compete in the WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon 2014.
Open Format Qualifying
Coming off last November’s Red Bull Battle Grounds championship in New York City, won in thrilling fashion by Won "PartinG" Lee Sak, this year’s circuit rewrites the Red Bull Battle Grounds playbook, introducing open format registration for the Atlanta and Detroit events. Up-and-coming hopefuls will have their shot to compete alongside the pros, and earn their spot in the ultimate showdown in DC this September. The first event kicks off in Atlanta, Georgia from July 11th – 13th, with online registration for the event opening in the summer. The tour continues with a stop in Motor City, USA – Detroit, Michigan –from August 22nd – 24th. Grand Finals
The five top players from the Battle Grounds event series will join one wild card qualifier and the top two finishers from 2013, PartinG and sOs, for the Grand Final in Washington, DC on September 20th – 21st. Every moment of the three city tour will be live streamed so that fans around the world can tune-in.
Details surrounding registration and formats for Red Bull Battle Grounds Atlanta and Red Bull Battle Grounds Detroit, as well as how to attend live and watch the stream of the events will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Damn, I wish they were coming back to New York. I'd loved to have gone to one. That's still pretty good. Hopefully some combo of Day[9], MrBitter, Rotti and potential Ret/DeMusliM will be casting. I'd love to see Bitterdam back in action.

Detroittttttt!!!!!!! :D Should be good, will be interesting to see what Mr Bitter will bring as he is the top dog in this organization now right?
Oh wow Red Bull messed up, 13th July 2014 is the FIFA World Cup Final!!!!!! Oh gosh. 12th Being 3rd and 4th place day too. Might lose a few viewers around that time for the Atlanta tour.

NY has IEM.
IEM only goes to NY every other year I think. And it's just not the same =(
Also Comic Con is pretty absurdly expensive just to go see IEM. I loved Comic Con the time I went, but it's a bit pricey to just go see a tourney.

Had they announced Season 10 already? Anyway, Battlegrounds are sick, glad to see them back again.

D: Moved to St. Petersburg, had hoped we'd get another event at Full Sail in Orlando. Oh well, I'll remember Battlegrounds NYC fondly. Such a great event.

:DD Unlucky.
My point is that i.e. Detroit never ever had any prestigious tournament and I think it's nice idea to spread events across many cities.
I guess they picked detroit cause it's cheap? Sick to see some events in Atlanta and D.C. again. The last events I can remember there were MLG's in like 05 or 06. Great to see that Redbull keeps investing in SC2 and eSports, a lifestyle brand like that is one of the best sponsors we could ask for.

Really wanted to see them back in Orlando this year, last summer was awesome when they were at FullSail. Still awesome to see more content from them though! Much love <3

really sucks though because I've been hoping for sc2 in Atlanta for a while :/ Missed my chance to go to MLG Orlando when some people I knew went a few years back

July 13th is also Evo 2014 finals, for those of you who follow fighting games.
Guess I have 3 things to watch on the same day, probably at the same time.

HAHAHA this is HILARIOUS and searing critical commentary that i hope is the impetus for change!! THIS is why i read the forums! RED BULL what are you THINKING? DETROIT!?!? come to Oakland instead!!

I will be watching safely at home for that one.
I will be attending the DC one for sure and maybe the atlanta one
You're right, Detroit is literally a war zone and there is nowhere in the city that is safe from the bloodbath.
If this is sarcasm you screwed up by saying things that are actually true
"I read somewhere that Detroit is a violent city so naturally I am going to take that to the extreme and assume that if you step foot inside the city limits you are going to die". Seriously what an idiotic thing to say.
I'm glad they are going to new cities. Gives new people a better chance of going to the events. Too bad Philadelphia got beat out by D.C., Altanta, and Detroit but hopefully next year!

Have you lived in Detroit? Have you seen a 911 call take 2 and a half hours to be answered? Have you seen someone get beaten to death in front of your apartment? How about you go and live there for a few months and see the decaying ruins of civilization that is Detroit Michigan.

I've been there and yes it is a bad city. But here's the thing: that will not affect this eSports event which I am sure is going to be located somewhere that isn't going to be a problem. 2k per 100k residents are affected by a violent crime annually and while that is horrifically higher than the national average, it doesn't mean we are going to be reading the headline, "8 SC2 players and 4 casters die trying to hold eSports event in Detroit".
Also I live in North Philadelphia and I am often in Camden (right across the river) so I know a little about violent cities.

Omg. So I guess there will be mostly watching hardcore fans from the US, where soccer is not that known.
Other than that: Great news! Very happy to see RB so involved with SC2.

I used to live right near Detroit. I've been in the city on numerous occasions. Unless some sixth sense shit is going on I made it out every time with my life. You clearly have stereotyped Detroit and refuse to accept that all cities have crime and poverty. The event will go off without a hitch
Everybody in this thread must be confusing Detroit with Flint. Downtown Flint is one of the biggest hells on earth, Detroit isn't that bad.
Detroit is only about 3 hours away from me...I might actually have to go to that.
I also wonder if Red Bull is going to do another map contest, I mean...Hab Stat was born thanks to Red Bull! Would be awesome to see another great map because Red Bull has the balls to try these things out! :D
