I guess the main motivation is that it is nice for WCS America to be located in America somewhere.
Then maybe your Esports organisations should stop being poor? Ever though about that? If they were less poor, they wouldn't need dirty EuroSports money to come and save them.

While nice to see the scene grow, NA market seems to be ridiculously hard to stay in and turn a profit. I'd guess NASL wasn't even close to turning a profit, ever. MLG is very picky and does a ton of brand and game promotions and the little guys have very little overhead - BtS runs from a single house. RedBull only cares about brand recognition, which they have been doing very well. Riot throws money everywhere they go to clear the way. Maybe Blizzard + ESL ?
I hope it works out or at least that they have it setup so that failure doesn't endanger their EU branch.

Well, Kennigit just said they have been talking since August, so WCS AM may have sped up things, but it definitely wasn't the only reason.
i really like incontrol's game insights, love him as a host/desk analyst. as a main caster? ehhh... not so much. sometimes his passive aggressive inside joke-ish trolling humor can get old when i'm just trying to watch a game
