UPDATE: Groups have been added.
Dear Starcraft II and Hearthstone fans,
not even three months have passed since TaKeTV's last big tournament and yet again we open our home for some action. For the first time in the history of TaKeTV you will not only find Starcraft II players, but also the most famous Hearthstone players in our first Crossover Tournament! Yep, that's right: From March 7 - 9, eight Hearthstone players will meet in Krefeld where they will fight for the sizeable prize pool of $15,000! Of course our fellow Starcraft II players won't go away empty-handed either. We will have 16 players who will fight for the same prize pool at the same time! So you're asking yourself why we are doing this? NEEDforSEAT®, our partner for this tournament, will reveal something truly amazing right on the first day of the tournament! You can find all information about this on March 7 on our stream or on the website of NEEDforSEAT®! For everyone who wants to enjoy the weekend together with the players, we'll have a public screening in the Irish pub "Limericks" where all three days of the tournament will be shown on a big screen. Hopefully you do realize that you need to prepare for a weekend full of eSports action on TaKeTV! Don't miss out on this amazing experience!

OH damn Take is getting more and more awesome.
|
Great news! Maybe Artosis can double as HS player and SC2 caster?
|
Does for the same prize pool and the same time mean those 15k will be shared among all the players? Anyway, sounds like a fun tournament! Both games are interesting for me, so can't wait! Also curious about the Need for Seat announcement!
|
So amazing, TakeTV is getting better and better. ATC 3 and the next HSC and now this, I love you Dennis .
|
You can say whatever you want about about the casting style of TaKeTV but these guys are getting shit done.
Could be a nice drinking game: Drink a shot every time Naruto pronounces "Hearthstone" wrong

oh god LuCifer, its been so long.

Hm well all subs from TakeTV know about it since a week. I thought it would've been announced by now. I hope I didn't spoil it^^. But yeah it will begin in mid march and is sponsored by Acer, Intel, Roccat and NeedforSeat. I can't imagine it's still a secret.

The last Hearthstone tournament I saw was Blizzcon. Are Artosis and Trump dominating the scene now?
Is that creepy freak whom Artosis beat in the finals still around?

and I forgot anything else I read before.

What trend? There are open competitions like GSL, IEM and WCS to find the best players and there is TakeTV. It's way more relaxed and something different and I hope it stays this way.

I don't know how these two totally different games can fit together. They barely have anything in common (except for Blizzard, but even there two different developement teams). Why not SC2 and WoW? Or SC2 and Battlefield? Would be similiar... I hope most of the SC2 games get broadcasted, not really interested in card games.
Thanks anyway for the effort! Nice to see Stephano back in action! Looking forward to the SC2 tourney and him playing.

Lol wtf, he is studying now and just playing on the side. Take's place is really close for Stephano so we might see him there from time to time. He can go there have fun, win some money and doesn't lose too much time. No flights or preperation needed, if he loses whatever. Any player that doesn't even try for WCS is pretty much retired. But if he gets invited to something like this, why shouldn't he play if it's close and he has the time. You will always have a good time in Krefeld .
|
Awesome! too bad twitch is bad as hell here in south africa... <.<
|
Remember my words, because you heard it here firts... TBA will win this tournament 100%. Thank you.
|
It would have been very nice to see at least one open qualifier spot for the Hearthstone tournament. It seems like there is always this same group of players for these invite only events and they are all people who have somehow established their popularity through podcasts and streams or being friends with people who podcast or stream but not really through proving themselves in many open tournaments as far as I can tell.
Now I don't want to say that these players are not among the best but I am sure there must be others who are just as good but simply didn't have a chance to show themselves on the big stage yet because all the big stage events (Blizzcon, Fight Night and now this) have always been invite only so far and only inviting people who were already popular.
|
Sick tournament. I will definitely tune in.
|
Is stephano coming out of retirment now than?
|
hearthstone has the same prizemoney lol... yeah esport right...
|
|
Super sick! At first I thought the final player might be Taeja since they seem to like inviting former champions but now I figure it will be someone who is already in Europe. As for the HS tournament I like all those guys, but it seems like it's always the same group that gets picked when there are hundreds of players who are really good. I imagine if the game gets more events other players will get a chance since so far its just been basically Blizzcon and fight night.
EDIT: Golden is in Germany right now! Please invite Golden!!! :D

I think it's awesome that we get to see Stephano every now and then! He has a funny, bright personality and his play is almost legendary, it would be a great loss for sc2 if he simply disappeared from the scene. Would love a Grubby vs Stephano wc3 showmatch!
Go TLO! If you'll play like you did against Bomber, you're finally going to raise that thropy! :D

its a random ccg with poor polishing compared to other blizzard titles (graphic bugs yay), and no more than a daily grind with no social interactions except your friends from other blizzard games, its f2p tablet or mobilephone quality, and i dont see much candycrush tournaments...
i do not think it can establish itself as an esport (seeing the "competition" is limited to a dozen players worldwide at most for months now and the game in general has apart from deckbuilding not to much depth compared to Magic for example)
well ofc this is only my opinion! everyone can enjoy HS at their own leisure (or uninstall it when the point of daily grinding for legendaries kicks in)

It's only a grind if you don't enjoy the actual mechanics of a card game. Or if you're really really bad and can't make enough Gold from Arenas to keep going. :/

Why exactly should this functionality exist in a game that is decidedly 1v1 and nothing more? I mean it wouldn't hurt if it did, but to be honest it's far less relevant than it was in, say, SC2, where you actually might want to organize team games or fun nights with UMS but couldn't do that within the game itself.

A game in beta still has bugs (how extremely surprising and appalling), therefore its polish is crappy, even though it is visually and stylistically more impressive than literally every other big CCG/TCG out there. I'm sorry what?

it is poorly polished, and already only balancing OP cards or FOTM and not even looking back at unused cards shows that blizzards support for this game will be even sub d3 level (look at devblogs or the "activitiy" of blues in HSforums) I have played MTG for years and hearthstone is a pisspoor clone for lazy people not wanting to leave their desk riding on the sinking WoWfranchise. LoL has a giant crew and is reworking and tuning the entire game in an, for a starcraft fan, enviable manner, it actually proves my point that great support and continuous work helps a game grow a lot, something blizzard could definitely learn from currently.
a BW without the flaws of an aged game, masterfully reworked, might bomb sc2 out of existence, but as is, no chance i am afraid.

You implied that HS should not have an esports scene because it is objectively an inferior game to Magic.
I retorted that SC2 should not have an esports scene because it is objectively an inferior game to Brood War. Using the same logic. It has nothing to do with popularity, just game mechanics and design, and as a direct result skill potential.
But whatever, I see you're not a fan of critical thinking in general so I'm done arguing in this thread. Keep believing whatever you want to believe.

A game in beta still has bugs (how extremely surprising and appalling), therefore its polish is crappy, even though it is visually and stylistically more impressive than literally every other big CCG/TCG out there. I'm sorry what? There's several gamebreaking bugs that have been there for quite some months (minion switching, cards stacking, floating minions etc). Graphical glitches are everywhere. Magic Sprites keep disconnecting me during arena runs. They patch balance patches but not bug fixes. By far the worst quality I've seen from Blizzard. Still a very fun game nontheless and I like playing it.

Some people are quick to forget shit like Immortal warp-ins and various larva-related bugs, among others. I'd give them until release. If they don't clean this shit up before release, sure, I'll happily concede, but until then it's unreasonable to say "by far the worst quality" when WoL itself was plagued with just as bad if not worse issues, even for a short while after game launch.

Keep believing whatever you want to believe.
i said HS does not deserve the same prize pool, especially for half the amount of players, the rest is your wishful reading, i also greatly dislike your attitude that starts with "my good friend" and ends with unfounded insults against my capacities of thinking, well better keep it civil.

The money goes where the attention and interest is, how is that unfair?
If anything I could even argue Hearhstone deserves more by that metric, but that would be stretching it a bit and I'm sure some narrow-minded people with tunnel-vision would be quite upset if I did.

damn 50% hearthstone players cash out.

RotterdaM, DeMusliM, Grubby, Harstem, Stephano, Lucifer.. WC3 showmatches are soooo gonna happen.

Loads of liquid players here
|
Oooh, let's go Stephano vs. MC finals :D
|
Cool SC2 lineup! Looks like the skill range is pretty wide but they're all really good. Will try to catch this!
|
|
i think TBA is the best player in the tournament and will win.
|
Hahaha, yes!!! Stephano!
.... I hope he utilizes those newly buffed hydras, instead of those SH....

<3 Stephano <3 - show'em who's the real BOSS.
I would have loved to see MasSan in the HS team - got the feeling he'd have fit in the story just perfect.
Many thanks to our saviour of eSports: The Dennis - The Take - The Gehlen!

I wonder myself, if stephano would place high, maybe he gets motivated again, seeing that he can still do it ? :D
|
haha Stephano again <3 play always HSC
Of course I must wonder, If Stephano isn't the TBA player who is??

This. Sponsors will go where they can get the most bang for their buck. IMO, the Sc2 pool should be slightly larger, but if hearthstone pulls the same amount of viewers and is on for the same amount of hours, I can't complain.
I used to have that elitist attitude with Sc2 and LoL, thinking LoL takes very little skill. But then I realized a game doesn't have to require tons of skill to be enjoyable or an esport. Of course it helps, but just because a game requires more skill does not mean it will rake in more viewers.

Pls Lucifer vs Grubby Bo7 Warcraft3 Showmatch...!!
|
Haven't people learned from the sc2 vs lol debates that it makes no sense to dump on other games. Just enjoy the games that you like and forget about the rest.
|
Just wondering, shouldnt the prizepool for sc2 be more or something, considering there are more players in the sc2 tournament? Something like a 10k / 20k split for hearthstone / sc2 would have made more sense to me haha.
|
Reading down the whole list I was excited and then I saw LuCifer and that just put me over the top :D
2v2 WC3 showmatch! Grubby and LuCifer vs Rotterdam and Demuslim ! XD

This is an additional event by NeedforSeat. HSC by XMG will happen as usual in June most likely, SSC is not replacing HSC! Take mentioned that they are aiming for the weekend before or after DH .
Nice groups, I really think Stephano will do better than at HSC.

LOL trump vs ekop, that's hilarious

Thanks for the groups! A nice racial balance both in each group and overall. Gotta say, I'm almost concerned for jjakji considering that his opponents did unexpectedly and really impressively well in their WCS groups, except Targa, but at least he took a map off of San the Man! Oh well, jjakji will dominate anyway!
Also liking the foreign terrans in here, only Happy's missing from the current European T powerhouses!

Might see my first Hearthstone tourney. Hope Artosis takes it again!
|
Oh god! They will have Lucifer and Grubby in here ?
There is a golden opportunity for an epic Warcraft 3 showmatch
|
Epic W3 match implies Stephano!
|
WC3 showmatch between Lucifer and Grubby please.

I hope you know that Stephano wasn't really relevant in wc3... It's like calling a match between JaeDong and Fuzer 'epic'.
On the other hand I would really like to see Grubby vs Lucifer!

if there's a war3 showmatch, it would have to be Grubby vs Lucifer. but with all the players there they could even make a war3 mini tournament :D

I don't speak russian, but for me it sounds like there will be wc3 showmatches between Grubby, DeMuslim, Stephano and Lucifer
if i can trust google translator :D

Woohoo we absolutely need more hype for this tournament
EPIC WC3 Showmatches..
Rooting for TLO and Demuslin at the SC2 Tourney..
Soo excited for the HS Tourney too.
Sick lineup and that atmosphere at Takes place.
Btw.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DENNIS

pretty impressive that drop defense by hyun but nice to see socke so offensive
|
|
too bad they didn't have the two tourneys running side by side on different streams instead of alternating between games. I'm not into hearthstone but would love to be watching SC2 constantly. Ah well, can't have everything. Thanks for the awesome tourney Take & NeedforSeat!
Gogo Snute & Hyun!! Shame they're in the same group but I don't see either getting knocked out after Snute beat DeMu.

hmm...taketv's channel is set to hearthstone now instead of sc2. i was wondering why sc2 had so few viewers despite the 18k watching seatstory cup.

I sadly missed the wc3 showmatches. is there a vod somehwere?
|
This is so awesome. Put a bunch of really good players in some house, play some games and have them commentated by players that aren't doing anything atm. It's like a group of friends organising a tournament weekend, i am really enjoying this.
|
Anyone know what the differences between these maxnomic chairs and the DXracers are? Are they just rebranded or something?
*EDIT* Nevermind, think I answered my own question.

Wait wc3 ? I completely missed this going on? Vods ? Are they over?!?!?! I need the Details!

hearthstone is so boring to watch. i wish they would stop alternating and just have a dedicated stream for it.
|
|
I absolutely loved this event!
TaKe, I don't know how much you read these threads, but I watched almost the entire thing and loved every moment of it. Thank you for the great games, and thank you to all of the players!
|
Thanks TaKe a great tournament loved the hearthstone.
|
Thanks for the great event, Take and NeedforSeat!
|
not only hearthstone and sc2 but warcraft3 as well. That was almost to much for me to handle, thank you for the tournament Take and Need for Seat ! Can't wait till I can afford one. But its on schedule after a new computer.
|
I thought the SC games were great.
Having HS on it's own stream would make it easier for me and I'm guessing most SC fans who have no interest in HS. Undecided if I'd watch another one of these live. I had to wait and wonder when the SC content would be on.
|
Great event but I think seperate streams for Hearthstone and Starcraft would've have been much better.
Besides that. Bunny will win something soon! Woo! :D

Yep, in my opinions hearthstone wasnt the best idea for this tournemant. Next time make one stream with only Starcraft and the second stream with only Hearthstone or some other games.
Is it totally to Switch between the streams all the time.

Honestly i feel quite the opposite.
I personally like watching sc2 but not too much in a row. Hearthstone was always a nice change of pace. Also it is a great way to bring the communities together and maybe bring some people into the game. The WC3 showmatch was just a great idea because you could literally feel and share the fun they had doing it.
It was perfect for the "we do it for our fun and just added cameras" atmosphere of HSC/SSC´s.
|
Annoying with the shared streams. Good tournament though.
|
I felt like one game stream a, one game stream b would've been better. i tuned out since the schedule wasn't follow-able due to hearthstone bo7's, and i got kinda unlucky that hearthstone ran quite often.
|
Am I wrong in assuming that it would've been more logistically inefficient to keep changing to which stream the video feed goes when the game changes? i.e. let's say after an SC2 segment on the couch (main) is done, they have to then switch the video coming from the couch area (main) and its production to the HS stream and vice-versa?
"But MasterOfPuppets, why don't they just have a separate area for the two games? X Premier tournament does that all the time!"
Because you can't compare a tournament that rents a large venue to a tournament hosted inside an apartment. A very well refitted apartment, for event-hosting purposes, but an apartment nevertheless. So I'd assume separating the two tournaments in that fashion would have been rather hard logistically, without having one game take the spotlight all the time and the other feel tacked-on as a B-stream of sorts.
I know this is what a lot of insecure SC2 fans would like, but fortunately the TaKe crew has decided for the better to give both games equal exposure, equal attention, equal prize money and put equal amounts of effort in both, and I feel like they've done a phenomenal job of it, to be honest.
Would certainly watch similar events in the future from that standpoint, and the WC3 showmatches were just the icing on the cake. I just wish TaKe had more time to spare casting himself. :<

Is there any information about the raffle? Or was it just a scam?
