VODs on Youtube (eventually)

Europe holds! The often ironic battle cry rang true in Group C of WCS Europe as (Z)mouz.VortiX and (P)Mill.BabyKnight advanced to the Ro16 at the expense of Korean Terran (T)Mill.ForGG.

ForGG was pegged as the favorite to win the group, but instead went out in last place after losing two TvP series to BabyKnight and newcomer (P)XMG.Lilbow. Much like Maru in the previous night's GSL, ForGG paid the price for utilizing a ghostless style when he failed to break his opponents down in the mid-game.

Instead, the #1 spot in the group went to Spain's VortiX who won two close PvZ series against BabyKnight and Lilbow. Though VortiX conformed to the new standard of swarm host play in the late game, he showed some personal flair by playing roach heavy midgame compositions, even making good use of tunneling claws.

The second place spot would go to BabyKnight, who was able to take out ForGG and Lilbow. It very well could have been Lilbow taking the second place spot, as the French Protoss showed remarkably good play in his Premier League debut. However, a narrow 1-2 loss to BabyKnight in the final match means he'll have to wait until Challenger League for his next WCS match.

ForGG doesn't like Protoss. Might be because he has no idea what he is doing in the matchup. Grats to Vortix and Babyknight, both showing stable premier league level play again and again.

except polt nobody seems to have a grasp on the matchup. even maru looked toroughly unimpressive and uninspired against protoss in his code S match (to be fair he looked pretty unspectacular against the zergs in his group aswell.

I didn't see all the games today, but from what I saw of ForGG, he looked really rattled. He was playing quite poorly and definitely didn't deserve to win. Made some very questionable decisions and just didn't seem to have his head in the game.

Congrats to BK and Vortix for defending their EU turf!

Classic is a damn good protoss and with maru just wasn't playing his top game on that day.

He started off playing well vs babyknight, and their games was somewhat close, but then he just seemed to have been crippled.

Lilbow did play well for sure, but it wasn't a ForGG in the best condition for sure either.

Fun fact, Vortix and BabyKnight have faced off in 3 of 4 WCS EU seasons. 4 of 5 if you count the 2012 one as well. xD

To all the people who say fOrGG didn't play well. You're right, but he was not having an off day, considering he started with a really well played macro game against BabyKnight. Then Blink happened and he lost his composure (and understandably so....)

At least Vortix and BabyKnight are really good, can't complain about that, but it's still kinda sad... :/

Indeed, I think Lilbow played really well once he got over the first match (looked nervous there) vs Vortix, so no need to take anything away from him. He was close to beating BBK too. I'm sure he will make it to PL next season too!

...and dude, you have gotta see this caster, Vasa! Epic casting all the way through!

Okay looking at the 3 first groups being played in the Ro32, its interessting to notice its: 2 Protoss, 2 terrans and 2 Zergs
After all said and done, one and one still is ONE.

was watching the beginning of the show yesterday and never seen so much lag, downtime and computer issues in official matches.

Like in the vasacast storm video linked above. Are those stutters for real? Did everyone (incl players) get those? lol

Network spikes per minute, spikes, microstutters, technical difficulties and casters not having proper computers/lines seems to become more and more frequent -_- its not that hard to get a stable computer, upgrade your connection (or VPN/MOVE) and run the unit preloader before games

Well I didn't see the opening matchup vs BBK, but vs Lilbow - he seemed far too back in the upgrades.. like - doing some weird timing that Protoss defended perfectly well, and then ended up in a 1-1 vs 2-3 upgrades iirc.. Took forever to focus down each of those Zealots having a 2 armor bonus advantage on armor over bio dps.. It was like - Zealots lived for forever - each was able to charge up like 2-3 times before finally going down

Think Lilbow did a pretty damn good job at FB-ing every single medivac with the zillion Templars he had.. So later on 4gg's army couldn't be healed at all.

Was really crazy at one point when 4gg did muster a 55 supply deficit comeback - like from 70 vs 125 or sth like that made it be 95 vs 100.. But - at that point he had like a 40-50 supply bio all on red HP with no energy to get healed.. Then Templar archives went online back again with 2.5k gas in bank from Protoss..

I really like his Ghost-Less style with Hellbats, but the Templar numbers were far too high.. There could've been like 25 templars - 2 in each base, 1 in prism and about 13 with the army in total) for that ever get beaten with no Ghosts I feel

Lilbow's no scrub though - the last series vs BBK were really crazy and close.. The Stalker/Zealot vs Stalker/Zealot battles were damn awesome.. Really really close, so he's got some really good army control, but yah - ForGG really messed up TBH
Another world, another place, another universe, won the race.. :) ;) :P

Yea no kidding. If those stutters were also on the player's end then it's no surprise at all that ForGG lost the way he did.

It's hard enough microing against Storm even without lag.

Glad to see 2 foreigners move up, now with a maximum of 7 Koreans in the Ro16 groups we're bound to see a minimum of one foreigner get to the playoffs!

That is the reason why a lot of KR terrans try to defend blink with marine/marauders only. Tanks are decent for defending blink. But when the protoss transitions, the tanks are kind of dead weight. They just don't have any synergy with the bio ball when vs P.

Ya that's the main problem imo. I honestly think the widow mine buff vs shields will help a lot in this aspect, because first of all they will be able to 1 shot MSC, they won't just be used for defense they can be used offensively as well. And vs that heavy zealot composition with massive upgrades mines could really really help Terran's out for that. Not to mention if a mine gets a group of templars =O they will melt. But mostly vs the insane amounts of zealots vs the heavy marauder comps, since if you use marines, Storm just melts your army if you stim constantly. I'm looking forward to this buff, the MSC vision radius nerf as well. I would like to see just a tad bit more of a reduction though, 9 vision is still quite a lot and it's really just unnecessary because you can still scout with it thanks to recall and such, just puts it in danger more often and requires much more maintenance during battles.
