Europe holds! The often ironic battle cry rang true in Group C of WCS Europe as (Z)mouz.VortiX and (P)Mill.BabyKnight advanced to the Ro16 at the expense of Korean Terran (T)Mill.ForGG.

ForGG was pegged as the favorite to win the group, but instead went out in last place after losing two TvP series to BabyKnight and newcomer (P)XMG.Lilbow. Much like Maru in the previous night's GSL, ForGG paid the price for utilizing a ghostless style when he failed to break his opponents down in the mid-game.

Instead, the #1 spot in the group went to Spain's VortiX who won two close PvZ series against BabyKnight and Lilbow. Though VortiX conformed to the new standard of swarm host play in the late game, he showed some personal flair by playing roach heavy midgame compositions, even making good use of tunneling claws.

The second place spot would go to BabyKnight, who was able to take out ForGG and Lilbow. It very well could have been Lilbow taking the second place spot, as the French Protoss showed remarkably good play in his Premier League debut. However, a narrow 1-2 loss to BabyKnight in the final match means he'll have to wait until Challenger League for his next WCS match.

Next game day:

ForGG doesn't like Protoss. Might be because he has no idea what he is doing in the matchup. Grats to Vortix and Babyknight, both showing stable premier league level play again and again.

except polt nobody seems to have a grasp on the matchup. even maru looked toroughly unimpressive and uninspired against protoss in his code S match (to be fair he looked pretty unspectacular against the zergs in his group aswell.

I didn't see all the games today, but from what I saw of ForGG, he looked really rattled. He was playing quite poorly and definitely didn't deserve to win. Made some very questionable decisions and just didn't seem to have his head in the game.

Congrats to BK and Vortix for defending their EU turf!

Classic is a damn good protoss and with maru just wasn't playing his top game on that day.
He barely qualified for the next round playing against hydra

was not expecting forgg to get knocked out 0-2... maybe when summer comes he'll rise again.

He started off playing well vs babyknight, and their games was somewhat close, but then he just seemed to have been crippled.

Lilbow did play well for sure, but it wasn't a ForGG in the best condition for sure either.

Did not see that coming but I am VERY happy with the results. Congratz too Babyknight & Vortix (:
WCS is like allowing Premier League football teams in the Korean football league... only, the other way around!
