Anaheim may be one of the "Korean Invasion MLG's"

it's funny that everyone had given up on MLG when they only failed to hold an SC2 tournament for one live event in four years

WCS is your show then. And if there is an open bracket, the Koreans will invade. Once they realized that real money was on the line, there is no stopping them.

Thy just wanted SC2 to die so they could be hipsters about it and claim to live a dead game.

depends on prize pool/perceived ease of money if they have to pay their way there, especially with many koreans in SPL now

Some good news from NA? Surely I must be hallucinating! I really like that they are making it an NA centric tournament, the scene needs a boost, and probably a kick in the ass as well.

Startale may send their whole roster considering they'll just be twiddling their thumbs over there. Unless of course they have zero money.

apart from life and curious, i don't see many of their players with a fighting chance to make enough money to pay for their flights

Pretty happy that MLG hasn't forgotten about SC2 community and this is the right direction to bring back it back to MLG events. Now I gotta take a trip to Anaheim and watch my first SC2 event.

We intend to use the feedback that you provide throughout this activity to help us design competition for February through May that will ultimately be used to qualify players into Pool Play at the MLG Championship in Anaheim. Full Championship details, including the size of the Open Bracket, are coming soon!

Maybe Hack as well. But yeah other than that... . Although Pet did just make Code A.

Oh and so did Panic. Not that they had hard brackets.

WCS is not, not really. MLG's used to be great to see what players were top dogs during that specific weekend. The WCS finals suffer from qualified players being just out of shape due to qualifying weeks before and performing badly and are out of balance due to equal invites for all regions.

And yes, I realize that if there's serious money on the line, Koreans will invade. But then we end up with an MLG like the first MLG's were, 4 US players seeded into pool play combined with 2 koreans who survived a gruelling open bracket and will enter 90% of the games as a clear favourite (pretty much vs every opponent with the exception of scarlett). It made pool play pretty uninteresting back then and will do again now. I have nothing against US only tournaments and I understand that there is a (rather limited) demand for them, all I'm saying is that they're not very interesting for me personally to watch.

Guys to be clear, this is a TEST run to gauge feedback from fans and players. With that data in hand we will work to design 5 months of SC2 activity that will lead into Anaheim and give us our pool play players for the Anaheim...you know the guys that will skip the giant fucking open bracket we're going to run.
