There's no sense in denying that SC2 is not as big/popular as it was in the 2010/2011 days, and it'll probably not increase drastically until the next expansion is release but just because it's not as popular as it once was does not mean it's doing badly. It's consistently in the top 3 for streamed games on twitch each month and it's numbers are very consistent compared to those other 'casual' games you mentioned (just look at how much hearthstone has fluctuated in it's short time on Twitch). Also the comparisons to LoL continue to be ridiculous since LoL is so massively popular right now and is a distant first to even its closest rival, Dota 2. It's like comparing American football to tennis "Monday night football pulls in more views than the French Open final, tennis is dying".

That's not really the point though. The point is that the scale of the comparison is completely different. Even though tennis is much smaller than American football, it's still big enough to sustain itself.

That's news!
Bomber and MC on team epic with some of the SouL free agents? Or MC to a KeSPA team?
|
Prediction : ST shuts down, RED BULL opens new team with MC, Bomber, Life.
|
sucks. MC will prolly hafta take a paycut for any team to take him on. Remember he was signed when sponsors money was rolling into sc2. 2 years later i truly doubt he can get the same deal.

Tennis have long history behind it to sustain itself due to its positive image. Video games that end up being called as esports eventually turns into fads because of player's unability to support themselves in the 30s just by playing video games due to lack of funding. Because of this reason, the industry is EXTREMELY fragile to be in and VERY generational such as CS, Quake, BW, WC3 laying the road (although to my elder's knowledge, there were arcade tournaments before) for new games such as DotA2, LoL, and WoT. Physical sports have never been "replaced" by a generation of games. Until a game becomes timeless and irreplaceable, an esport industry will always age to the point of death in a professional sense.

I dont mean to bring the BW is the best esport up but I don't know if you follow the BW scene but the players on Afreeca are bringing it back along with the help of sonic.

EG.MC, EG.BOMBER, they will have a korean of each race. 100% confirmed

Liquid could use some non-Zerg players.. =P

I dont think any team will pick him up, which has been the trend lately.

Already has a new team according to his twitter, but can't announce yet:

My mind is blow away by this statement. The dude deserves his salary/benefits. He did finish in 2nd place in WCS Europe two times in a row. We are not talking about Nestea here

Yeah just saw that. Excited to see his new team.
Such a man of the people :D

maybe EG - would fit well for them at least.. maybe Acer - need a toss and why not join Inno+MMA for some fun, making a very strong team and more success :-)
