The matches will be at the " Nexon Gangnam studio ", so it won't be that little box that the SPOTV matches were in last season.

Also:

12:05 - Broadcasters: SPOTV Games, SPOTV2 will broadcast at the same time. Available in 8.5 million households with IPTV. SK B TV, LG U+, and OllehTV will broadcast (each telecom company's mobile channel). Also on NAver sports, Youtube, and TwitchTV.

Wow so it is on TV and will reach 8.5 million households.

Wow so it has the biggest prize pool in Proleague history.

Wow so it is being played in an E-sports Stadium and not a tiny box.

Wow 95% of this thread is still bitching and moaning about this reveal.

I'm not a huge fan of Proleague or broodwar of the past, so perhaps that's allowing me to look at this data and information and come to rational conclusions here. This should be good news to be most people, yet it seems like the majority of posters here are on the verge of slitting their wrists over this. No idea what's happening. Friday the 13th?

you probably watch Fairy ads in awe. Wow i can wash my house in 2 minutes. Come again when 8.5 millions turn out to be 8k~ish of twitch online and the esport stadium is yet another 20 seats place.

People who want to rage will rage. I just read the information (also known as facts) and repeated it. Information, not conjecture. Excuse me if by stating facts I may have accidentally deflated your rage-boner.

your "facts" are: the name of the place contains Stadium - time to cheer in joy. Basically you've come to say "you are all so negative i'm way cooler than you". I doubt you even know what proleague used to be 3-5 years ago.

Please stop with the "DAE Brood War nostalgia?!?!?!?".

Really glad that Proleague was announced, psyched to watch it and for fantasy Proleague.

Good point. Accept that sc2 was never, is not and will never be a true esport like SC:BW was and will never be again. The true successor to BW is now lol and maybe dota. Sc2 is jes a small niche games market comparable to western viewerships. Small shady event organisers posing as esports squeezing no-return money from players and sponsors alike.

Gone are the days of competing against tennis etc. Now sc2 competition is counterstrike and tonnes of other new games that pop up every month. Expectations of sc2 were way too inflated. On hindsight, it was obvious sc2 was jes a game like any other and no way it could ever succeed BW as the esports.

I dont know, Artosis and Tastless, otherwise known as Tastosis: The Casting Archon, always mention in their casts how big SC2 has gotten in Korea and how Korea is the Mecca of eSports. I think that those two, WHO LIVE IN KOREA, would know that Korea is embracing SC2 as the true bonjwa successor to SCBW. Moreover, they even were around when SC1 was "popular" in Korea -- so they of all people should know what it's like to see an eSports game grow into a huge success.

I don't think they are allowed to talk shit about SC2. It's their job. But we should keep being positive, maybe one day SC2 will be as big or bigger than BW was. Look at CSGO and Dota 2.

As someone who never really watched much Proleague in BW or SC2, the prizes strike me as very low. I am being told here that in comparison with other years of Proleague, they are not, but in comparison with individual tournaments, they are almost absurdly low - they are comparable to a standart Premium tournament, but it goes to the whole team and requires many month of participation. In the end, the amount of money paid out per player and time is almost irrelevant. The only reasonable reason to play in this is for the (both personal and sponsor) exposure. It will be great if it produces good games, but is it really sustainable in the current market?

On a different note: if Wolf gets a co-caster with whom they fit well, it may be a pretty nice cast.

They are veeeeeeery low, the people who are saying they aren't are trying not to sound like "starcraft is dying" but they are indeed quite low

The new maps look good but I can't believe they selected the ladder maps they did.

They should just use their own map pool completely. They're always miles more entertaining.

good thing is that they're probably gonna drop all the ladder crap that is currently in the map pool after a season. Which I hope is gonna be reasonably short as always.

Oh god do you people ever just shut up?

I hope not, it's great comedy.

It's like we're offending someone by being happy about this, "I'm not happy so you can't be either!"

Not at all. I posted that coz he posted enuff with BW nostalgia. That is the alternative to BW nostalgia. Rather than thinking of how much bigger it coulda been, we accept the fact that it never was, is not nor capable of achieving greater heights as it used to. If thats the thinking then yes, BW nostalgia is unwanted coz dreaming for more is jes a dream never to materialise.

Some of us however, truly believe in esport industry to be long lasting and truly self sustaining and no matter what, seek more towards that.

So in your twisted mind, what exactly are the difference between an esport and a "true" esport? Because there's no one definition I've seen that makes any reasonable sense.

Let me ask you this: Why is Korea so important? People always speak how massive BW was, but how big was it outside Korea? Why can't we be positive, seeing how much bigger the Starcraft franchise has become outside Korea? And yes Koreans are better at SC2, especially atm, but even then, can't we see the positive things, like how many relatively young Koreans get to see other parts of the world than just their own country? It may be a shame that SC2 didn't immediately become super big in Korea, but personally, I prefer it being somewhat popular world wide, than just popular in Korea.

Look at CSGO and Dota 2.

csgo isn't bigger than 1.6. Or do you mean bigger than css?

It's actually much bigger than 1.6 now in terms of concurrent player. Ever since they added weapon skin and crate drop the player has gone way up

lol i bet people that are complaining didn't like SC2 from the start.. what's your problem? Isn't BW alive and still kicking?

There is now a "PL" for BW and 1on1 leagues with your koreans gods of eSports.. just watch that and leave SC2 for the guys and players that embrace it!

I like PL and my biggest problem is that it misses the eSF teams.. i would rather have a joint league.. but they can't manage that!

Wow so it is on TV and will reach 8.5 million households.

Wow so it has the biggest prize pool in Proleague history.

Wow so it is being played in an E-sports Stadium and not a tiny box.

Keyword: now. Back then without 3 scene split 1.6 had way bigger numbers than that. It was a much more popular esport. Even CS in 2002 had 60-70k concurrent users. And it was way before it's prime.
My wrist really started to flare up. My colossi number started to pile up and with the last of my concentration I prepared for a win.
