I didn't see a thread for this so i will just put this here.
Fenix has announced today through local strike that he is going to take a break from starcraft II and e-sports and he didn't specify when he will get back:
I cant believe it all started when i was 11 years old and was playing Brood War with the friends of my brother. To think that since that very moment my life would change and a passion to play and dream to be in Korea with the best players like Boxer, Yellow or Nada would grow on me.
In the time of my pro-gaming life i had to sacrifice a lot of things like my medicine studies and leaving my family behind, but as hard as it was i never gave up, never told myself that i couldn't do it and i never doubted of my skill.
I achieved my goals and lived in Korea for almost a year and won some international tournaments in USA en Europe.
But what happened after that? I decided to go back to my country and take a long vacation and in the meantime i found something new for me, a new passion: innovation
Since then, I used a lot of my time on that and my dreams turned into that, the world of innovation, entrepreneurship, start-up and so at this time I'm working on a way to start up and i'm looking to join one of the most prestigious universities of the USA like Standford, Harvard or the MIT.
As always, Fenix shows a lot of confidence on himself and he also has himself in a very good place among the best players of the world it looks:
A lot of people always ask me about why am I not in my best possible level of play? And i also have a discomfort and anger for being defeated by MID level players like jarrpi, túnico,MajOr, darkness, etc. (Editors note: yes, he actually said that and put the "mid" in caps). Yes, for me is very troublesome and shameful to lose against them, but sadly i couldn't play more than 4 or 5 games a week and exaggerating.
For that reason i decided to take a break from Starcraft and not to play any Online or Offline tournaments until I feel the urge to want to go back to the game this time for real. When will that happen? I don't really know, but I know I'll be back with a lot of strength and I will show my determination with facts.
[...] I will keep making videos to share my experience, tips and coaching that maybe can help you to reach the goals you have.
I'm not retiring and this is not a goodbye just a break from the e-sports scene.
See you soon guys!
EDIT: MajOr actually had something to say to Fenix, and it wasn't something nice as you would expect. He said it in Skype and a friend posted it to the thread but it has since been deleted by local strike or his friend himself. But basically he laughed, insulted Fenix, said that he wasn't in IM from a long time ago and that IM would say a thing about his break from statecraft because they don't even consider him and IM player since almost a year ago and he was the only one thinking he was still on IM.
But I'm looking for the real comment (a screenshot or maybe he posted it elsewhere) or looking to talk to his friend or MajOr himself to have the source for you guys.

Yeah...you can't just say that he has a response that will cause drama and then not translate it! Should have just said nothing about his response if you didn't want to!
Weird how he has this confidence and belief that he is such a great player, yet I don't even remember the last time he was relevant. He calls MajOr a "mid-tier" when he was on a Kespa team and is semi-relevant. Weird. Being on IM doesn't automatically make you a top-tier player.
Well the other reason i didn't post what MajOr said is because major said that in Skype when he was talking to a group of friend, and one of them posted it in the announcement, but I cant find it anymore, maybe he deleted it because major asked him or maybe even local strike deleted the comment, so i don't have it to translate it but basically he laughed, insulted Fenix, said that he wasn't in IM from a long time ago and that IM would say a thing about his break from statecraft because they don't even consider him and IM player since almost a year ago and he was the only one thinking he was still on IM.

I didn't even know this guy was still playing this game. Pretty rude to call out other players as mid level when you aren't relevant and havn't been in a really long time.
Ok thanks for the info but honestly, what is the point of posting skype chat logs / screenshots of MajOr and Fenix's arguments / exchanged words ? .... I mean really, this thread is about Fenix taking a break from SC2, not drama.

Depending on the player pool, his tier could vary a lot
What a ridiculous affirmation about him being a lot better than most of LA players, specially mentioning MajOr as a MID level player and himself talking about being HIGH tier lol
The worst part is that on the Local Strike article, you can't say anything bad about it, or your post is deleted, so you will not see how many people talked trash about Fenix, or the answer from MajOr quoted there from a friend of him.
I hope that guy never come back to SC2 scene on LA.
PD: The MajOr's answer was soooo damn good, I hope Phantom can find a good source and translate it

...Right?
Right, but the way Fenix left talking trash about MajOr is kinda awful, like saying "Yeah, I am so damn good but I am losing against crap players because I am busy on other things, so I leave"
Heres the thing guys, Fenix and MajOr both had a pretty extensive background in Foreign BW, so obviously there is going to be a little hostility between the two, and also maybe from the same region so there is a lot of competition between the two, I think a lot of people just appreciate the fact of knowing what is going on with Fenix, and rather leave the drama elsewhere because it is pointless, and regardless of what MajOr says or feels, he may be right but that isn't really the point of this thread.
Did anyone ever figure out how Fenix got on IM to begin with? Was it some kind of fluke because IM wanted to recruit a foreign player? I never understood what the deal with that was. IM never denied he was on the team but I don't recall they ever acknowledged it either. Did he even have an IM jersey?

He had a jersey, he stayed with them in Korea for some time in 2011.
Major laughs at him, but he's a middling terran with no achievements other than being on a kespa team for like 4-5 months with nothing to show for it lol.

I think it all started with him living a certain amount of time in the GOM house. He must've got hooked up with IM during that time.
The two players might not be the most relevant players in the foreign scene - though didn't Major put up some awesome performance in the ATC recently? - but I think they are still amongst the best Terran players on NA. Could be wrong though, I rarely follow the NA scene tbh.
edit: In fact, aligulac lists Major as the top NA Terran!

Good Luck joining a prestigious, top US university after playing games for years while tons of students study for years and still do not get in. I must of not read the memo that gaming translates to studies.
EDIT: Just kidding, he should not have any problem getting in.. I missed something in the OP

MajOr 4-killed mouz, which is one of the worst memories as a mouz-fan since the TL writers robbed mouz of the "best-foreign-team"-award in 2011, which should have belonged to them.
Atm. MajOr is better than Fenix, but historically Fenix has more achieved (winning IEM american championship, destroying oGs in GSTL). Them arguing about this should´nt make a drama, there are tons of conversations like this n twitter every month.

Don't worry, that award definitely goes to mouz this year. No other team has a foreign lineup as strong as them.
It's definitely inappropriate to bash other players like this. I guess the "mid" players may be happy that they forced Fenix into frustration and semi-retirement.

Yep. Same was true 2011 (with MaNa/T-Zain/Hasu/Morrow). And then they won all the teamleagues. And then the award did go to EG/TL. And then the TL-writers robbed MaNa of the best foreign toss award and gave it to Naniwa for making GSL ro8, while MaNa won ESWC and DH... TL writers are biased as shit against mouz.
The thing about is MajOr is that he said himself that he knows there are plenty of other players way better than him, so he doesn't go over there talking like if he is so great, but Fenix in his "retirement" marked himself as a Top player while naming "Mid" level on MajOr and others...
Anyway, neither on LA Fenix obtained a really decent fanbase, his few sponsors told him to rise the number or show results, he tried to couch for 30 U$S per hour and a minimum of 4 classes per month was the deal, so he could make some money, but it didn't work
So leaving because lack of results and sponsors, as well fans, is not something to go and trash talk like he was the best player on the world, neither on LA, neither on his own country already now.

Don't want to be nitpicking, but I don't think you know what "neither" means, or maybe I have been missing some hidden meaning?

His full name is Jian Carlo "Fenix" Morayra Alejo. He saw some success in the GSTL and early days of SC2, and was a prominent foreigner in the BW scene.
Funny to see this, in Copa America he was crying unbalanced game against a player, Darkness or something, next match we see a Terran player take out Darkness, and now he retires :S, too bad he is arrogant as usual
Retiring and shitting on other players that actually have some results is a no-no. i really wonder why someone like him receives little to no flak for behaving from the sc2 community while others do. sad story.

Hopefully he comes back and lives up to the IM name.
If you read the OP, it says Fenix is apparently the only person to think he was on IM. IM doesn't consider him one of their players.

Yeah, fair enough, but you can't really say that Major is at all on the same level as Scarlett or Naniwa or something. He's still mid-level compared to the pro scene in general.
