With the conclusion of Season 1 WCS EU, KR and NA, the details of WCS Season 1 Global Finals have just surfaced.

The finals will be divided into two parts and held at two different locations: group stage and earlier rounds of playoffs will be played at Yongsan e-Stadium on June 7th and 8th, the semifinals and Grand Final will be moved to the famous Jamsil Students' Indoor Gymnasium starting 3pm KST, June 9th.

The entire broadcast will be handled by OGN which will also run WCS Korea Season 2 under the Starleague brand, the English casters of WCS Season 1 Finals will be Erik "DoA" Lonnquist, Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles, Shaun "Apollo" Clark and Sean "Day[9]" Plott.

Map pool: Whirlwind, Bel'shir Vestige, Akilon Wastes, Star Station, Neo Planet S, Newkirk Precinct and Daybreak.

There'll be a GOMtv cast as well. It'll be the regular casters casting remotely in the same way that Monte and I have been casting WCS Korea on OGN. (for at least 5 people. Sometimes maybe even 10!) The entire WCS situation has been awkward for all the casters here. Trust me. It's all out of our control though. We're just casters. It's going to be a good weekend of games regardless.

I'm guessing there's some ridiculous political reason for not having any GOM casters there, how stupid.

My thoughts as well, I guess they will cast from GomTV studio with their own video feed just like what OGN is doing with WCS KR S1, imagine Gom's stream beating OGN's numbers on a second-hand video feed lol. Oh wait, OGN has DayPollo.

Really stupid to not use all the english casters in Korea + 1-2 popular ones from elsewhere.

I hope they promote this well and get Blizzard's help to get a nice crowd for the final day.

Montecristo also plays SC2 and as far as I know he plays it at a farily high level, masters KR if I remember correct. His proleague cast with DoA is in fact quite good.

well that's a little disappointing. the only caster on that list i like is Apollo.

also, do we know the exact format of this event yet? the OP mentions a group stage, which i honestly hadn't expected.

The original article didn't talk about the details but I believe it will be standard GSL style group into single elimination playoffs since it's a 16 man tournament.

Map pool is as usual, no fancy new ones. Whirlwind, Bel'shir Vestige, Akilon Wastes, Star Station, Neo Planet S, Newkirk Precinct and Daybreak.

Yeh, Wolf and Khaldor would've been great, but apart from that I like the caster selection

This. 2 of them have nothing to do with GSL, they dont know the players and they have no clue about the meta game in korea (i really like the strategy calling from Artosis). Doa and Monti are more involved, they could do an ok job i guess.

At this point it is quite obvious that Tastosis and Wolfdor are the best casters for all matches including code S koreans. When considering metagame knowledge, Artosis should be a given for the final matches. He makes me think he knows how the game is gonna be played out and why the players build what.
