I must say that this fills a much needed hole that us Terran stream fans were feeling. This man is ungodly in his talent, and I am happy to see him playing. A cut above.

To me his stint over Dota 2 seem...forced? He looks like he is having more fun in SC2, imo.

SeleCT was fine in the beginning when he switched over to DotA 2. He used to be a DotA player along with WC3 and Dawn of War. SeleCT didn't look like he was having fun when he was streaming near the end of his DotA 2 career.

I hope he tries LoL, I think he could go pro in LoL and he would be popular with 30k viewers on his stream.

LoL isn't easy. They have many more players trying to become pro.
Which means, the game is more competitive.

James just revealed this on the GD show, apparently QPad really liked Select and want to continue being involved with him despite his departure from the Dota 2 team.

Definitely a good decision by Select considering he was always a good player at SC2. WCS definitely helps and is a good incentive for him to return (now that he has more chances to win).

The best part of 1v1 game is that you can show your skills better and not be blamed by everything from keyboard warriors on the internet as much. I remember reading a few posts in the Dota 2 forums and seen a decent amount of insults and negativity towards him for some reason (of course it may be a minority I only read a few posts of a thread).

Bye bye please stay out of dota2 now.

See, these types of comments is what I don't get and is what is not giving me a good impression of the MOBA community. SC2 may have its haters but outside a few exceptions (and some situations, like foreigners getting seeds into GSL), the SC2 community treats its players well. Even players that gained a bit of infamy (like the Terran Rain) all were respected, especially when they left the scene (I remember reading the Rain retiring thread and nearly every single comment gave him respect and wished him fair well with almost no one hating on him).

Not a surprise really, he stated he left Qpad yesterday and he hadn't played Dota for three days. I guess the mindset required for MOBAs just doesn't fit the mindset of RTS gamers, as we have seen in CoCa, Puzzle and sC. Glad to see SeleCT return to the scene.

You realize he played DotA before SC2 right?

Yes, he played WC3 DotA before SC2 (when he retired from SC2, he also mentioned that he played Dota before SC2, and just wanted to return to the scene). He did decently in Dota before, so it's not like he wasn't used to it before.

I say it's not the case of mindset for MOBAs but the fact that being good at 1v1 games is more rewarding than being good at team games.

No matter how good you are, you are still limited because it's a team game (team coordination impacts the game way more than what individual skill can make up for in most cases).

And again, if you are a decent player in a game (enough to make it far in tournaments consistently) than you might as well stay playing the same game unless you don't enjoy it as much as another. Coca and Puzzle and sC all returned to SC2 (despite the huge break) as good players still (Coca and Puzzle owning the group stages and making it to the play offs at Dreamhack, despite only returning to HotS for like a month or 2) and sC owning it up in the GSTL a decent amount of times. Seems like Select is doing just as well too making it to

Dota2 and LoL aren't as easy as they seem huh SeleCT. ^-^

Again, he played Dota professionally before SC2, probably even before most are playing Dota right now. Plus, just because you don't succeed in the game, doesn't mean it's harder (especially if it's a team game where your individual skill doesn't have as much impact in the game as team coordination).

Did you actually watch him? He played DotA. He wasn't a pro in Dota2 prior to playing SC2. He found out that it's really hard to get in the groove of such an undertaking and he didn't do that well so let's stop repeating that crap over and over again. I never said Dota2/LoL were harder lmao. Don't put words in my mouth. I just said it was hard and save the team shit versus individual skill. He was one of the weakest links on their team. Shesh.

To be fair, your statement DID make you sound really arrogant and condescending. SeleCT is a great player. No reason to rub his nose in the fact that his DotA 2 career never took off. And I don't understand why you disregard the team play vs individual skill argument. It's perfectly valid, even if you don't believe it applies to SeleCT specifically. (I speak as a LoL/DotA/Sc2 player)

More on topic: This is great to hear, I hope he gets picked up by a good team soon!

I also speak as a Moba/SC2 player. That doesn't say a whole lot man. The truth of the matter is as much as we like the guy (because I do like the guy- proud supporter since his Dignitas days and showed plenty of support) he was easy to write off in Dota2. I saw him play countless times and he really did have a weak pool to chose from. I don't like stupid generalizations or oversimplifying matters but there is a lot missing when you guys try to sell that can of worms time and time again. I've picked it apart on more than one occasion and I don't intend on doing it again. There's a big gap & it's not going to get any easier.

It's not select's fault he didn't succeed in dota. Hard to find a good team that fits. Singsing was the downfall of that team. Just doesn't seem like a good team player that dude.

After fail in TI3 qualifiers Selects leaving qpads was just matter of time. He played badly (because he almost instantly was picked in pro team, with only a month-two of practice). And i think he switched to dota2 because : 1) he saw TI2 "wow easy money", 2) his sc2 was "not in best condition", and i think in isn't last of his transfers (LoL next maybe).
