Lol, he's like the most boring player of all time so there was even a point where he was underrated for how solid he played. There was like one GSL where Artosis said he was good but that's about it. Nowadays I think he's a pretty bad-ish player and everyone knows it so he's neither hyped nor underrated... EG needs practice players, so any decent ones they can get is good for them. This is obviously not a "let's get all the superstarz!" move. He is an IPL champ and was the last player picked over and over again in GSL code s for quite a while. And raven rush t v t -_- But he never managed to do anything with his marines other than run them away...
He has very crisp micro, not sure why you would say that.

Alive I understand, but Oz? He didn't show anything since he left FXO. That's a weird pickup for a team that only wants results from koreans.

He didn't perform that well in Korea, but it wasn't as bad as you make it out to be. 1st: 2012 Ritmix Russian StarCraft II League Season 1st: 2012 MLG Spring Arena 2 Korea Qualifier 2nd: 2012 MLG vs Proleague Invitational 3rd: 2012 MLG Summer Arena 4-8th: Auction All Kill OSL
I think both Oz and Alive are good solid pickups for proleague!

Good pick up in my opinion, glad to see those players back in a team.
|
Holy... That's a lot of players...and good players moreover. Where do you get all this money EG ? Tell me your secret. Anyways those 2 are some of my favorite players so you better treat them well :>D

People in this thread don't seem to know how good Oz is...
|
Alive and Oz used to be near the top of their respective races, but have since fallen from grace. Neither of the two has done anything noteworthy in a long time. They could be okay fillers for Proleague, but I don't expect more than that.

What?! Whoa whoa whoa.... Alive is a much needed Terran addition for their proleague line-up.
Too many Zerg stream these days, can't wait to see Oz + Alive stream.

He should be a good sniper as well. For anyone who don't remember or missed how he picked Stephano apart (when he was at his prime) you should go watch this series: http://tv.majorleaguegaming.com/videos/91878-summer-arena-wbr3-stephano-vs-oz-game-1

I feel like they have that strive to do well and that's why they were picked up. And I think they are willing to undergo the new training regimen that they have set up there.

He was "that guy" no one in Korea could beat or wanted to play for a while. He clearly hasn't had shit for results akin to that (IPL is hardly GSL) but I was agreeing with you in that he doesn't deserve the hype he once had.

On-topic: even with Alive, if Taeja can't fully recover from his wrist injury, EG-TL will be light on Terrans. They need to pick up another one.
|
This is more like it, I expect their Proleague results to improve tenfold now. Such more depth of field with these guys on the team. Should be good to watch.

EG looks very strong right now, especially with that acquisition of aLive. That Terran is super.

EG-Liquid really making a "foreign" appearance in Proleague. Not rooting for them anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love korean players, but I always thought that EG-Liquid in Proleague would've been a step towards an internationalization of eSports, meaning that foreign talents could play and learn and improve in korea. But it looks like there is no foreigner with enough dedication to do that. Stephano goes for the easy money, skipping code S once more. And the great "foreign" roster? Byebye Thorzain, you had your proleague time. EGTL roster in proleague now:
Taeja, HerO, JYP, Oz, aLive, Jaedong, korean, korean, korean... my hype is gone.
Oh, and dear EG, you de-signed Puma. Now pull the consequences. Why is HuK still playing? I see no results (correct me if I am wrong). And when I watch his games, I don't get the point of why exactly he joined EG. Kudos to him for the HuK on IdrA rivalry, and not-so-big-kudos for him leaving TL for EG's money. But his times is over, he's delivering bad games, even compared to normal foreigners as Lucifron, HasuObs or Snute.

I was with you, I thought two foreign teams, especially with such resources could form a permanent 'base' that would actually ape the Korean practice structure, but be a bit more comfortable for foreigners to acclimitise to Korea, i.e not having them stay with a bunch of Koreans and the cultural/communication problems that might solve.
For whatever reason this hasn't happened yet. That said, if EGTL does start to perform up to standard, and integrates foreigners in the lineup over time it could have long-term positive results.
Plus, exposure to proper teamleagues I think will be good in the longterm, there aren't enough of them it seems to me.

Machine, HuK are no match in Proleague. Lol, you could send Minigun and he'd be doing better.
And concerning long-time-development in proleague: where is the long-termin progress if you don't get your foreign players to a better level, but rather buy in some more korean players? I don't believe that Oz and aLive are "training partners" only, as some guy stated before.

I guess PuMa earned much more then we all thought. =)
