CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., March 14, 2013 --Newegg Inc., the leading electronics-focused e-retailer in the United States, today announced an exclusive sponsorship of Complexity Gaming, a premier global professional gaming ("eSports") organization. This partnership makes Newegg the "Official E-retailer of Complexity Gaming" and bolsters Newegg's position as a leader in the burgeoning gaming industry.

Global eSports have quickly become one of the fastest growing segments in the video game industry with audience numbers rivaling those of top sporting and entertainment events. Newegg and Complexity Gaming will work together to support and promote eSports events this year.

"We're honored and thrilled to be working with Newegg," said Jason Bass, COO of Complexity Gaming. "Gamers already love the value Newegg offers its customers through its great product selection and compelling deals. With our consulting services and expertise in eSports, the Newegg brand will only become more synonymous with professional gaming and its large, loyal fan base."

Newegg and Complexity Gaming will be kicking off their partnership at PAX East 2013, which is being held in Boston, MA on March 22-24. Complexity World Champion Ryan “FilipinoChamp” Ramirez will be at the Newegg booth #818 to sign autographs and play against attendees for a chance to win prizes. It's one of the most dominate retailers in the US when it comes to Computer hardware and other accessories.

It seems to make sense that they sponsor coL. Creative SoundBlaster (another coL sponsor) was doing contests through Newegg recently.

Good luck to compLexity

Lol definitely nowhere close to amazon, amazon basically owns online shopping in many categories, while newegg is just computer hardware. Still huge though, #1 online hardware retailer prob.

This is really cool! You should try to get them to do an affiliate deal like Amazon does, where I can click through from complexitygaming.com to newegg, and a share of whatever is bought on that visit goes back to you

I know i'm going to buy a new computer soon, so i'd happily go through coL to do it

To add on this, Amazon is definitely bigger, but that's because Newegg specializes in computer hardware. As far as hardware goes, I don't know anybody at my college/on my CSL team who doesn't know of Newegg, and I would much rather shop at Newegg than Amazon if they sell it at Newegg. Prices there are often better (they have a ton of sales)

Not that this is related to the sponsorship, but unless you're the hardest AMD fan ever and don't mind sacrificing a ton of price/performance, you shouldn't buy an FX-8350 for gaming. The 130$ Intel i3 part performs pretty comparably for gaming.

(Unless you do heavily-threaded work that isn't gaming, but with a GTX 670 it seems you're a gamer )

Complexity needs players able to represent them better tho.

This seems pretty cool. Of all the companies who could possibly get a real return from e-sports sponsoring I think newegg might be one. Only issue is it's probably really hard for them to tell, guess a survey to customers on "how you found out about newegg" or something could give some insight.

Hella big news! Was wondering if Newegg would ever become a sponsor. Glad to see it happening, especially for an organization like Complexity. Congrats!
That's what she said.

You know, when a company sponsors a team usually the goal is for fans of the team to become "fans" of the company. In this case, however, as a happy customer of newegg I think I just become more of a fan of Complexity haha. Definitely seems like a good deal for both sides, I'll probably be a little more interested in Complexity now, and I have another good reason to buy things from newegg!

Canadians use NCIX.

I used to use Newegg for everything but I can usually get everything quicker from NCIX and I get to support a canadian company. Prices are comparable and they pricematch anyway.

Does this mean that Complexity is going to start pimping out Rosewill products (Newegg's house brand)?

I love Newegg, this is awesome. Complexity's roster is looking a little thin these days and I feel like they've been burned by the majority of their big pickups, most of them were great either before coming to Complexity and then didn't perform as well (Nada, Ganzi, Killer, Heart), got a lot better after (Goswser) or just didn't pan out (Naniwa, Destiny). Hopefully this new sponsorship will allow them to beef up their roster.

Not anymore. 8350 has largely caught up in multi-threaded games like Crysis 3. You should check out some benchmarks.

As a european, can somebody give me some numbers as how big newegg is? like as big/bigger than amazon right? I know from surfing the hardware forum that it is a very good place to shop in the US, but nothing else really...
E-Sports fighting i guess!

Lol definitely nowhere close to amazon, amazon basically owns online shopping in many categories, while newegg is just computer hardware. Still huge though, #1 online hardware retailer prob.

You mean New Egg is only #1 in online hardware right?
I'm sure that Amazon and other places are more famous for other things, but New Egg sells a lot of shit, not just computer hardware.

You can buy kitchenware on New Egg if you wanted. They have a lot! But Amazon has more shit like eBay does.

New Egg is huge. The best place to shop for anything electronic. Although I hear wires are cheaper elsewhere, you'll usually find the best prices for electronics on New Egg.

Congratz to coL. I was waiting for New Egg to join in on this, and was wondering who they would sponsor. Now we know ;D

What a great pickup, I'd love to see some other big computer/electronics companies start doing this.. Larger names also bring a vaster audience.

Honestly, Newegg is my goto site when purchasing equipment for my computer (barring peripherals like keyboards/mice which I want to touch first), so I am really excited to see them get behind one of the oldest names in esports.

Keep it up guys!

According to Newegg's own promotional material, they are the #2 e-tailer in the US behind only Amazon. And this is even though they sell only computer hardware as opposed to everything. However, this information is from a couple years ago so I'm not sure where they stand now.

Any ideas what to do next? I’m not trying to imply anything but it’s common that teams and organisations employ many volunteers. And while they big stars draw attention it would be nice to see more organisations reward their staff instead of contracting some star player/personality.
