Yesterday there was a thread on reddit by Fishstix regarding what time would be best for a GSL rebroadcast. http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/1819zs/if_twitch_were_to_run_a_rebroadcast_of_gsl/ Code S is as of now being rebroadcasted. I believe it started around 4pm EST. I don't know if this has been confirmed to be an ongoing thing as of yet. | ||

At least make it 5:30 PM PST or something when everyone in the US is off work. 8:30 PM isn't a bad time to watch GSL for East Coasters. | ||

And even if that's not the impetus, they're doing one of the things that NASL does, and which can be proven to increase their audience and exposure. Quibbles over the time there may be, but this is a very forward leaning and excellent decision from Mr. Chae and GomTV. Taking one more step to differentiate their product from their competitors. In like 240p, no less. I know it's been upped since, but that's what it was when I made my signature. So you were pretty much obligated to buy VODs if you wanted watch it at a reasonable time. So as a result of this unfair practice, I rarely watch GSL, and I'm sure it excludes a lot of other people from watching as well. Other tournaments like NASL and IPL have rebroadcasts, there's no excuse that GSL hasn't had one until now. I have no problem charging for VODs as long as a reasonable free option is available. But unfortunately, up until now that free option excluded a large chunk of the world, so it didn't exist for a lot of people. Again, it's unreasonable to ask people to stay up from 2AM-6AM for a daily tournament This move by them is a step in the right direction. | ||

There's also some charm in watching an actual broadcast over vods, regardless if it is a rebroadcast or not. Each form has its own advantages of course, a broadcast can be a little more interactive with having chat capabilities with other viewers and really easy to get into, while vods are are a little more out of the way and isolated but with more control for your own personalization. Vods also sometimes take a little while to get uploaded, and missing a first broadcast doesn't make subsequent broadcasts worthless either. Television stations will often repeat their programming after a while, and it's not like everyone who missed the first showing immediately gives up and finds it on the internet, some of the don't mind watching the second one a few hours later. Peoples preferences will vary. | ||

Because, you know, that is exactly the trade-off you are making by taking such a job - larger and guaranteed supply money for much less time flexibility. | ||

I think we can safely say they'll rebroadcast the finals too, although I have no clue about when it will be. And as said posters above O'Gaming is rebroadcasting/VOD'ing too, with higher video quality but lesser obs/cast quality (they're casting and observing at the same time and miss important stuff especially when funka is not there) + Show Spoiler + O'Gaming! you'd better put Funka in full obs mode and work your commentaries for these finals, being laid back is great, but these are the effing finals! Sacrebleu! | ||
